2025: The Year Bitcoin Breaks Its 4-Year Cycle of Growth and Decline
For over a decade, Bitcoin has traditionally followed a cyclical price pattern: four consecutive years of price growth followed by one year of decline, repeating the cycle. However, 2025 broke this pattern, closing in the negative zone with a 6.28% price loss.

Institutions Exit Crypto as ETFs See Billions in Outflows
While the market delivered mixed performance this year, Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs broadly tracked the same flow cycle.
Institutions allocated aggressively when the macro ooked clear and risk appetite was strong, helping fuel the rally and channel capital into payments and RWAs.
When macro turned uncertain, the bid faded and inflows flipped to outflows, showing institutional crypto exposure is still a broader risk-on trade tied to global financial conditions, not a steady long-term allocation.
In 2026, if macro stabilizes, the Fed moves into cuts, and regulation becomes clearer, flows into major assets should turn steadier and less headline-driven.

DeFi TVL Has Shifted From Activity to Balance-Sheet Infrastructure
The comparison highlights a structural shift in where DeFi TVL concentrates. In 2021, top protocols were diversified across DEXs, CDPs, and yield aggregators. By 2025, TVL is overwhelmingly concentrated in lending, liquid staking, and restaking protocols, signaling a move away from activity-driven primitives toward balance-sheet infrastructure, where capital can remain deployed passively for extended periods.
The dominance of Aave, Lido, and restaking protocols suggests TVL growth is driven less by user demand and more by capital efficiency and yield layering. Lending fits this structurally: overcollateralization, reusable collateral, and leverage loops mechanically inflate TVL. Restaking goes one step further by monetizing already-staked assets, adding incremental yield without requiring capital reallocation.

VC Valuation vs. Current Market Cap
During bull runs and narrative hype, VCs tend to overprice projects and assign aggressive valuations.
However, once sentiment fades or the narrative loses traction, most projects get a reality check and the market resets those euphoric numbers.
That’s why it's important to keep a cool head and weigh risk across multiple outcomes, before investing.

Only 12% of 2025 Token Sales Are Still Profitable
In 2025, 533 public token sales took place. Some managed to raise millions in seconds, but only 63 tokens are still trading above their sale price.
The biggest sale, PUMP, raised $600M. It delivered 2.19x at ATH, but now trades below the IDO price, with ROI around 0.48x.
Even though PUMP led the narrative and captured massive attention, the retroactive EV looks weak. The same applies to MON (current ROI 0.93x) and XPL (0.47x).
However, 58% of sales still delivered a solid 3–6x pop on decent size allocations right at the start of trading, but not in the long term.
The most profitable sale for investors in 2025 was MYX, with ATH ROI at 2103x, and it is still trading around 385x above the sale price today.
Overall, weak market conditions and shrinking attention spans turned token-sale investing into hard mode this year, pushing participants toward shorter holding periods and faster profit-taking.

• Dunamu - $10.3B
• Deribit - $2.9B
• Polymarket - $2B

Hyperliquid Holds Leadership Despite the FUD
As the perp DEX war continues, market participants are trying to evaluate and compare the leaders in this narrative.
Despite the recent FUD around Hyperliquid, it remains the more mature platform with stable metrics and no public user incentive programs.
Even though Lighter leads in daily perp volume, Hyperliquid has nearly 7x higher open interest and a much lower turnover.
That usually points to more position-driven, organic activity, while very high turnover can signal churn from airdrop farming or even wash-like volume.

Fundraising Rounds by Stage in 2025
As of year-to-date, 1,179 funding rounds have been completed by Web3 projects. Notably, undisclosed and strategic rounds together account for approximately half of all deals in 2025.
This trend suggests that capital is increasingly being deployed through strategic partnerships and private allocations, rather than early-stage or publicly disclosed rounds, reflecting a maturing market and a more selective approach from investors.

Lighter Airdrop Calculations
As Lighter prepares for LIT TGE, the onchain picture with some premarket data can already give a ground to some approx. evaluations.
Even without official tokenomics, current holder distribution, transfers, and market structure we can try to frame realistic airdrop scenarios and risk vectors.
Tokens Distributions and Points Conversion
Current holder distribution (on-chain):
• Total supply: 1,000,000,000 LIT
• 600,000,000 LIT (60%) – core wallet
• 250,000,000 LIT (25%) – secondary wallet, likely airdrop pool
• 150,000,000 LIT (15%) – separate allocation wallet
At this point, if we suggest that 25% of supply will be distributed as initial community airdrop, and say that around 9-12M points was already farmed, 1 point can realistically maps to ~20-28 LIT.
Rough Price Evaluation
In November 11, 2025, the protocol raised $68M at a $1.5B valuation, backed by Ribbit, Founders Fund, Haun, and Robinhood.
On top of that, pre-market trading already exists, clustering around $3–5 per LIT, implying a $3B-$5B FDV.
Putting this together:
• If LIT opens around $2.00 (~$2B FDV), then each point equates to roughly $40-55.
• If LIT opens around $3.50 (~$3.5B FDV), each point moves into the $70-95 range.
• If momentum pushes LIT toward $5.00 (~$5B FDV), each point implies $100-140 in gross value.
For additional reference, Polymarket participants are pricing Lighter’s FDV one day after launch as follows:
• >$1B FDV – 89% probability
• >$2B FDV – 86% probability
• >$3B FDV – 64% probability
• >$4B FDV – 36% probability
Conclusion
However, there is no exact information on cliff, vesting, and liquidity provision. This is just guessing and playing with numbers based on assymetric information.
The official checker will be announced by the Lighter team later. The allocation and price will depend on numerous factors.
