GS II Mains 2026 : Note 3 - 7, Topic : Amendments and Basic Structure
Hello,
While a question on amending powers was asked in 2025, the larger relevance of the topic can't be ignored.
There is a greater chance of a question to be based on Basic Structure than Amendments.
Also, 75 years to the 1st Constitutional Amendment and IXth Schedule, 45 Years to Waman Rao Case, and a recent speech by the CJI on Basic Structure and Democracy put the topics on the map.
While MCN 2.0 -Note 3 - 6 remain the same as last years MCN 6 - 9, MCN 2.0 Note 7 covers NEW analytical questions that can be asked.
Would be conducting live answer writing on these areas and more tomorrow onwards as a part BAWS Pro at 7 p.m.

GS II : Mains 2026 : Note 1 and 2
Hello,
Starting with GS II Concise Notes for Mains 2026 this week onwards .
This year, would be covering every single topic for Mains 2026 as per each line of the syllabus as well as thematically and not just the ones I think are important.
However, will tag the topics as high priority or low priority depending on a cross referencing contemporary developments, repetition frequency, evergreen significance.
In Note 1 and 2, have covered Historical Underpinnings including GoI Act 1935 (90 years approx) and Constituent Assembly (80 years since 1st sitting). Both are high priority this year since 1935 Act has been asked previously in 2016 in terms of impact on Federalism in India and exact anniversary year of Constituent Assembly.
Lectures on this to also be released on Youtube.
Would be taking up live answer writing sessions on GS II this week onwards as a part of BAWS Pro as well.

1. UPSC has not asked a core theory question on Separation of Powers since 2019. Recent devleopments such as such as an Ordinance increasing SC Strength, Anti Defection Issues, SC taking up suo moto criminal cases etc, the larger issue of Separation of Powers remains relevant.
2. Lately, more specific comparative constitutional questions are asked, have added newer notes due to US declaring National Emergency in Jan 2026, US SC upholding birthright citizenship and nullyfing specific tarrifs, 250 years of US Indepedence, recent resignation of UK PM, loss of confidence by French PM last year.
