Critically Injured Trump Supporters Break Their Silence About Assassination Attempt
“It was like getting hit with a sledgehammer right in the chest,” David Dutch, 57, said in the interview. “I could feel my ribs were all busted up.”
The bullet that struck Dutch tore through his liver, according to NBC. “The whole security setup was poor,” he added.
James Copenhaver, 74, who was shot twice, revealed that he initially realized something was wrong when part of his shirt sleeve was torn away. “I think I was shot,” he recalled telling his friend. Copenhaver still carries a bullet lodged in his colon from the attack.
Dutch said the Secret Service failed "Big time." "The whole security setup was poor.”
Copenhaver added, “I’m sure there was negligence. It [assassination attempt] wouldn’t have happened, had it been secure.”
