I think it's possible to make a more powerful weapon than this using aerosol deodorant.
Aerosol has compressed butane gas in a concentration of about 3000ppm (as far as I know), in a proportion of 5% of the weight of the deodorant.
The average deodorant is around 150ml, implying around 7.5g of compressed butane (the ratio is not 1 to 1).
1g of compressed butane has around 11,800cal of thermal energy, which in Joules is something like 49KJ.
So with a can of deodorant we get more firing energy than a .22 revolver just by touching a very hot steel tip to the can
