Hello friends i have a guestion. I know c# source code translates IL code then CLR translate IL code to the target machine code. And with this we are independent from operating systems.i wonder how this process works , imagine i wrote a c# application in windows and then turned it to windows exe file. In this scenario can i run that exe file in linux or mac os?? Or only IL code can be platform independent but not executible files such as exe.

Usually app is compiled into a DLL with IL. I believe the EXE is a windows-only bootstrap loader for running that IL
