The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) cleared on Wednesday the much-anticipated procurement of Indigenous Pinaka multi barrel rocket-launcher weapons system. Two contracts worth approximately Rs 10,000 crore are expected to be signed by the end of March this year, before the financial year ends, sources in the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.

The approval paves the way for two major contracts worth Rs 6,050 crore to be awarded to the lowest bidder Solar Group, the Nagpur-based private sector ammunition-maker and another contract worth approximately Rs 4,000 crore to the Defence Public Sector Unit, Munitions India Ltd. Both these companies will make two variants of ammunition–area denial munition (ADM) and Pinaka MKI enhanced range, sources added.

These indigenously produced armored vehicles excel in mobility and protection and are already serving in UN peacekeeping operations.

President Droupadi Murmu approves Gallantry awards to 93 Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces personnel, including 11 posthumous, on the eve of 76th Republic Day.

These include two Kirti Chakras, including one posthumous; 14 Shaurya Chakras, including three posthumous; one Bar to Sena Medal (Gallantry); 66 Sena Medals, including seven posthumous; two Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry) and eight Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry).

President Droupadi Murmu also approves 305 defence decorations for the Armed Forces and other personnel.

These include 30 Param Vishisht Seva Medals; five Uttam Yudh Seva Medals; 57 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals; 10 Yudh Seva Medals; one Bar to Sena Medals (Devotion to Duty); 43 Sena Medals (Devotion to Duty); eight Nao Sena Medals (Devotion to Duty); 15 Vayu Sena Medals (Devotion to Duty); four Bar to Vishisht Seva Medal and 132 Vishisht Seva Medals.

Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is a Medium Weight category (all-up weight 25 Ton class), Multi-Role, Twin Engine 5th Generation Stealth Fighter Aircraft conceptualized and designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) for use of the Indian Air Force (IAF). AMCA is one of the most advanced 5th generation fighters and ADA is working on the development of key 5th generation technologies like AI-powered Electronic Pilot, Netcentric Warfare Systems, Integrated Vehicle Health Management and internal weapon Bay. The AI-powered Electronic Pilot comprises with Multi Sensor Data Fusion to enhance Situational Awareness, Pilot Decision Support System, Automatic Target Identification System, Combined Vision System for navigation in poor visibility, manned & unmanned teaming.

Report: On 05 Feb 2025, based on a specific intelligence input about move of terrorists, a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) was established by Security Forces.

One speeding suspicious civil truck was spotted. When challenged, the truck didn't stop despite repeated warnings instead accelerated further while crossing the check post. Alert troops pursued the vehicle for over 23 km. Shots were fired aiming on tyres to deflate which forced vehicle to halt at Sangrama Chowk. Consequent to detailed search, the injured driver was immediately evacuated to GMC Baramulla by Security Forces where he was declared dead.

The fully loaded truck has been sent to nearest police station. Detailed search of the truck in police custody is underway and investigation on antecedents of the suspect is in progress.

Terrorist movement was detected last night at the Line of Control in Poonch sector. Alert troops swiftly engaged the infiltrating terrorists, triggering an intense & heavy firefight. The operation continued through the night, leading to the neutralization of two terrorists.
