Sad News:
Flash Flood in Sikkim: 23 Army Personnel Missing

Due to sudden cloud burst over Lhonak Lake in North Sikkim, a flash flood occurred in the Teesta River in Lachen valley. Some army establishments along the valley have been affected.

Release of water from the Chungthang dam led to a sudden increase in water level upto 15-20 feet high downstream.
This has led to Army vehicles parked at Bardang near Singtam getting affected. 23 personnel have been reported missing. Search operations are underway.

⚡ Project Kusha:

As confirmed by the IAF Chief, development is underway for new long-range surface-to-air missiles under Project Kusha. Here are some important facts about Project Kusha:

🔹 Project Kusha, formerly known as XRSAM or LRSAM.
🔹 This program aims to develop three surface-to-air missiles with a range of 150 to 400 km.
🔹 It will possess similar capabilities to the S-400 Air Defense System.
🔹 Project Kusha will complement the Russian S-400 and MRSAM air defense systems.
🔹 Initially, the IAF plans to acquire five units.

✨Indian security forces are set to acquire 12 autonomous weaponized boat swarms developed by Pune-based Sagar Defence Engineering to enhance surveillance along the Indian coast and Pangong Lake, where Indian and Chinese troops have been in a standoff since 2020.

These boats, named Mata Matangi, offer advanced features like dual cameras, radar tracking, a 12.7 mm SRCG gun, and remote control capabilities. They can operate continuously for 48 hours and utilize ISRO's NaVIC navigation system. The Indian Navy will retain ten boats while providing two for Indian Army operations. Additionally, 30 underwater drones and seven other drones have been ordered for various purposes.

BIG BREAKING : On October 5, 2023, an army Major stationed at a forward base near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, opened fire and threw grenades at his fellow soldiers, resulting in injuries to some of them. The incident involved the Indian Army's 48 Rashtriya Rifles unit and took place in the Thanamandi area.

Fortunately, there were no reported casualties. The Major responsible for this unusual incident was reportedly dealing with personal issues. He initially fired shots into the air before targeting some soldiers, and then proceeded to throw grenades, even targeting officers who rushed to the scene. This incident occurred in a region that had witnessed significant security challenges, with two major terror attacks earlier in the year.

Additionally, it comes six months after a fratricide attack that claimed the lives of four soldiers at an officers' mess in Bathinda military station, Punjab.

He also said our contract was for five S400 systems and three have been delivered. There is a hindrance in delivery due to Russia-Ukraine war and we are sure that in the next one year, we will be getting the remaining systems. We are also using the Indigenous Project Kusha for indigenous long-range air defence systems.
