The Philippines accuses Chinese vessels of ramming their boats, boarding them, and seizing weapons. General Romeo Brawner reported that the Chinese coast guard personnel were armed with swords, spears, and knives.

This confrontation marks an escalation in the ongoing tension, as both sides attempt to enforce their claims on disputed reefs and outcrops. The clash occurred while the Philippine navy and coast guard were delivering supplies to Filipino troops stationed on the Second Thomas Shoal, a decrepit navy ship serving as a Filipino outpost.

Report- In a major boost to Aatmanirbharta in defence & minimise imports by Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), Department of Defence Production (DDP), Ministry of Defence has notified the fifth Positive Indigenisation List (PIL) consisting of 346 items. These include strategically-important Line Replacement Units/Systems/ Sub-systems/Assemblies/Sub-assemblies/Spares & Components and raw materials, with import substitution value worth Rs 1,048 crore. The items will only be procured from the Indian Industry after the timelines of indigenisation as indicated in the list .

Report- Defence PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd on saturday signed an agreement with Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei GmbH and Co. KG, a Germany-based shipping company, for the construction and delivery of four multi-purpose cargo vessels. This contract, valued at around $54 million, is set to be completed within 33 months.

Report: Ministry of Education has decided that the UGC-NET June 2024 Examination be cancelled on the basis of inputs from Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, prima-facie indicating that the integrity of the examination may have been compromised.

Fresh Examination shall be conducted, for which information shall be shared separately.

Matter being handed over to CBI for thorough investigation in the matter.
