DRDO is developing a shoulder-fired air defense (AD) missile that will outclass the US FIM-92 Stinger in many ways. DRDO’s shoulder-launched AD missile will be a scaled-down version of its VSHORADS (Very Short Range Air Defence Missile System) missile, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth stated in a written response to a query in the parliament.

Macchal Encounter: One soldier lost his life, while four others were injured as the Army foiled an attack by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Saturday. In the operation, a Pakistani terrorist was eliminated by the security forces.

The BAT team involved in the attack is suspected to have regular Pakistan Army troops including their SSG commandos who work closely with terrorist organisations

The Indian Navy on Monday said that a fire erupted onboard Indian Naval Ship Brahmaputra, causing the vessel to tilt heavily to its port side, with one junior sailor missing, for whom a search is currently underway.

According to a statement released by the Indian Navy, the incident at the INS Brahmaputra, a multi-role Frigate, occurred on the evening of 21 July, while the ship was undergoing refit at ND (Mbi), as reported.

The Indian Navy said: "A fire had broken out onboard the Indian Naval Ship Brahmaputra, a multi-role Frigate, on the evening of 21 Jul 24 while she was undergoing refit. The fire was brought under control by the ship’s crew with the assistance of firefighters from Naval Dockyard, Mumbai {ND (Mbi)} and other ships in the harbour, by the morning of 22 Jul 24. Further, follow-on actions including sanitisation checks for assessment of residual risk of fire were carried out."

In a major success for the Indian Air Force (IAF), the Sudarshan S-400 air defence missile system, in a military exercise, "shot down" 80 per cent of the "enemy" fighter aircraft package while forcing others to retreat.

The IAF carried out the exercise in a theatre where the force deployed one of its own fighter aircraft as ‘enemy aggressor planes’ in real life and were ‘tracked and targeted’ by the S-400 air defence system.
