BSF says, "On 9th Aug 2024, Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force (BSF) successfully addressed a significant and different kind of challenge at the India-Bangladesh border in Coochbehar District, West Bengal. Approximately 1,000 individuals, reportedly Bangladeshi nationals, approached the international border, seeking refuge in India. Upon encountering this group, the BSF promptly approached its counterpart, the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB), to take these Bangladeshi nationals back, ensuring that the situation was managed without escalating tensions. The quick and decisive actions of the BSF, in coordination with India's civil administration, were crucial in maintaining order and resolving the issue."

ISIS terrorist Rizwan Ali arrested in Delhi with arms, ammunition ahead of Independence Day

The Delhi Police Special Cell has apprehended Rizwan Ali, a wanted terrorist with alleged links to the ISIS module, just days before the Independence Day celebrations in the national capital, an official said.

Rizwan was arrested on August 8, 2024, at around 11 pm near Ganga Baksh Marg, Delhi, based on secret information received by the police. One star pistol with a .30 bore, 3 live cartridges and 2 mobile phones were recovered from his possession. A case has been registered at PS Special Cell, Delhi.

A resident of Daryaganj in Delhi, Rizwan had a Rs 3 lakh bounty on his head, announced by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for his involvement in terror activities, Special Cell, Delhi Police said.

Indian Army column reached the landslide site at Chooralmala by 1200 hours. Using ropes, soldiers are being ferried across the river which is in spate to assist and carry out rescue efforts in Ward No 10 of Chooralmala.

The Pune-headquartered Southern Command of the Indian Army has mobilised its two rescue columns along with two Indian Air Force’s (IAF) helicopters from the Sulur Air Force Station in Coimbatore to be deployed in Kerala’s Wayanad district that was rattled by a massive landslide early on Tuesday.

The Army’s action comes based on Kerala government’s request for military help in landslide-hit areas of Meppadi, Mundakkai Town and Chooralmala that left at least 50 people killed and hundreds trapped.

Adverse weather conditions are dampening the rescue efforts as several houses, shops and vehicles are buried under the debris in Mundakkai. A bridge to the spot has been washed away, further complicating rescue efforts.

Report- DRDO has developed the Bullet Proof Jacket (BPJ) consisting of lightest Front Hard Armour Panel (FHAP). This jacket has been developed in two configuration viz. In-Conjunction-With (ICW) and Standalone with different areal density of FHAP. The Bullet Proof Jacket has been developed under DRDO project. The process to transfer the developed technology to Indian Industries has been initiated as per Transfer of Technology (ToT) Policy and procedure of DRDO for production.

Indian Air Force will have to wait longer for the first LCA MK-1A aircraft that was supposed to be delivered by March 31, 2024.

“The first LCA Mk-1A is likely to be delivered to the air force in November 2024,” said one of the officers who asked not to be named.

After missing the March 31 deadline, HAL hoped to deliver the first aircraft in July but again revised it to a later date in August.

Phase-I at AF Station Sulur (06-14 Aug 24) features Germany, France, Spain, and UK. Phase-II at AF Station Jodhpur (29 Aug-14 Sep 24) includes Australia, Bangladesh, Singapore, Greece, UAE and USA along with 18 Countries as observers.
