UAE: Two fined Dh600,000 for employing 12 workers illegally
A UAE court has fined two individuals Dh600,000 for employing 12 workers illegally. The duo was arrested during inspections conducted in February. The 12 workers were fined Dh1,000 and deported from the country.
This came as the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) revealed it conducted 252 inspections last month to arrest residency law violators. Without specifying how many, the authority said several illegals were arrested as 4,771 establishments were inspected.

UAE: Posting high-resolution photos on social media could put you at risk
Social media penetration in the UAE is relatively high, as an average resident has more than one social media account, including Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and YouTube. Cybersecurity experts warn that cybercriminals are increasingly targeting Friday nights, knowing that security operations are not running at full capacity on that day.
"If you have two high-resolution images on social media, scammers can identify figure prints, and they can create digital identity or image to create a bank account or create an e-SIM," said Ashraf Koheil, regional sales director for Meta, Group-IB. "They could manipulate digital identity and date of birth and create a crypto account and use that account for money laundering and terror financing," he said. Koheil also added that students from financially sound backgrounds are often targeted.

A Dubai commercial court recently ruled against an Asian man who deceived a luxury retailer by selling fake fancy bracelets claiming to be high-end originals. The court ordered him to pay Dh90,000 in damages.
The scam happened last year, when the fraudster approached the retailer at its Naif branch, claiming to sell three premium-brand bracelets for a total of Dh125,000. Qasr Al Watan, UAE's presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi
Qasr Al Watan' Palace of the Nation' is the current meeting place for the UAE Cabinet and Federal Supreme Council β the highest constitutional authority in the UAE β where official state visits and global leaders are hosted. It is part of the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi and is located at the end of Corniche Road in the capital, past Emirates Palace Hotel.
The opening of Qasr Al Watan to the public is also in line with the UAE's ambition to become a knowledge-based economy as part of Vision 2021, which aims to make the UAE one of the world's best countries.
