Exhibit Man: How Art Sells Real People
In 2006, the former manager of a tattoo parlor in Zurich, Tim Steiner, became the canvas for a new work by Belgian artist Wim Delvoie. In 40 hours, which stretched over two years, Delvoie covered Steiner's entire back in tattoos. And then Tim was sold to the German collector Rick Reinking for 150,000 euros (a third of the money went to the tattoo bearer himself).
For now Tim belongs to himself, but after his death the owner of the art object will be able to remove his skin and place it in a frame.
