Edward Munch "Self-Portrait in Hell"
"Since birth - angels of fear, sorrow, death have stood beside me, followed me outside when I played, followed me in sunny spring, in lush summer. They stood beside me in the evenings when I closed my eyes - and threatened me with death, hell, and eternal punishment. And then it often happened, I would wake up at night, and gaze in wild fear into the darkness of the room: Am I in hell?"
