The image of mermaids in world painting
Mermaids - mysterious mystical creatures, which not once inspired poets and writers. At the same time, the Slavic mermaid is very different from Western representations. This is an unacquainted soul, a beautiful drowned woman, as in the work of Gogol.
The mermaid is usually depicted as a naked girl with a fish tail; however, she may have a pair of legs and a pair of tails, which, in turn, can be not only fish, but also dolphin or snake. She sings marvelous songs, and often also plays the harp.

Kristen Liu-Wong is modern naivety, it's black humor and a woman's essence that is not so sweet at all. A very popular artist today.
In bubble gum-colored and mint-tinged scenes, Kristen promotes the idea that femininity doesn't always mean polished and soft; it can be rough and sharp. Well, one would think that's not femininity then. But Liu-Wong doesn't see it that way.

Here is what Käthe herself says:
As my work is based on the Art Nouveau style and the seductive drawings of Egon Schiele, it is not surprising that my constant subject matter is women.
