Restricted earth fault protection (87N) :
For solidly grounded systems a restricted earth fault protection REFPDIF (87N) is often provided as a complement to the normal transformer differential function. The advantage with the restricted ground fault functions is the high sensitivity for internal earth faults in the transformer winding. Sensitivities of 2-8% can be achieved whereas the normal differential function will have sensitivities of 20-40%. The sensitivity for high impedance restricted ground fault function is mostly dependent on the current transformers magnetizing currents.
The connection of a restricted earth fault function is shown in Figure 50. It is connected across each directly or low impedance grounded transformer winding.

ROTOR EARTH FAULT 64R:
The function protects against earth faults the rotor circuit defined as the rotor winding and the DC circuit of the excitation system.
An independent signal with a low frequency (1-3Hz) square-wave voltage is injected into the rotor circuit by means of a separate injection unit 7XT71 and a series resistor 7XR6004. The voltage signal generates a current which is flowing through the complete circuit (coupled resistances of series resistor7XR6004 and rotor ground resistance).
The measuring of the current and voltage allows the detection of an earth fault

Generator differential 87G
The purpose of the generator differential protection is to detect phase faults in stator zone. The protection is sensitive, fast and absolutely discriminative.
In case of fault it is necessary the opening of the generator circuit و breaker and the fast de-excitation of the generator.
The protected zone is limited between the current transformers at both sides of the generator winding. The protection is not able to detect the earth faults on the stator winding

There is no connection between oil and air in conservator. when the transformer oil temperature increase, the oil value increase and the level of the oil in conservator will be goes up . in this mode the air inside the air cell will be go out from air line .
when the temperature of the oil decrease ( by decreasing the ambient temperature or load in transformer winding ) oil value will be decrease inside the conservator . in this mode the air will be go inside the air cell from air line and air dryer to fill conservator space .

according to the report an the current of the motor we checked the pump as below
1- rotor movement checked and it was ok
2- winding insulation resistance checked and it was ok
3-cable and motor winding resistance checked with ohm meter and all phases were ok
according to the blow check it seems that the cable and motor has no problem so we check the power line in the panel .
3- we open the wire of the motor from output terminal and check the volage. the voltage was not correct and after checking the circuit we find out 1 phase of the contactor had failed and it is the reason of over current in the motor
the contactor replaced and problem solved

Stator earth fault 100% 64S1 :
The function is used to detect an earth fault in the entire winding range of generator winding. The operating principle is based on the injection on the stator path of a 20 Hz square-wave voltage signal by means of a separate injection box and a band-pass filter. The measuring of the current and voltage injected by this frequency allows the detection of an earth fault.
As a supplement to the ground-resistance determination, another ground-current stage is available that processes the 50Hz current RMS value and thus considers all frequency components. It is used as a reserve stage and comprises approx. 80 % to 90 % of the protection range.

answer
we checked and fixed this problem as below:
- we energize the transformer and check the temperature of all connection first . in 250 A the temperature of all connection was 30 but in V1 connection it was 60 degree C
- the bolts was tight (95NM torque according to vendor table )
- as u see in the picture the above bolt has been more color change . so there is a loos connection there .
- as the bolt was tight we thought that the loos connection is inside of the resin isolation but when we opened the bolts to check the connection we see spark effects in bolt and washer ( above pic ) .
- we cleaned the copper bus and bolt and washer and connected it again . the problem solved and the temperature is normal now
- we should fill the cracks with silica to protect them from dust and humidity . The loose connection has caused the surrounding temperature to rise and the high temperature has caused cracks in the insulation.

as u can see in the picture the color of copper bus in V1 connection changed . and there is some crack in body of transformer. what is the problem and what should we do ?

Protective system :
Generator is designed to run at high load factor for a large number of years and permits certain incidence of abnormal working conditions.
The machine and its auxiliaries are supervised by monitoring devices to keep the incidence of abnormal working conditions down to a minimum.
Despite the monitoring, electrical and mechanical faults occur, and the generator must be provided with a relay protection system, which, in case of a fault, quickly initiates the necessary actions.
The protection scheme used for different types and sizes of generators varies between the countries and also between power companies within the same country. Hence, the protection system must be flexible to meet the different requirements.
The protective relays of the network outside the generator block will not detect the faults in the generator or will operate too slowly to prevent severe damage on the machine.

It is mechanically actuated. Whenever there will be a minor internal fault in the transformer such as an insulation fault between turns, break down of core of the transformer, core heating, the insulating transformer oil will be decomposed in different hydrocarbon gases, CO2 and CO.
The gases produced due to the decomposition of transformer insulating oil will accumulate in the upper part of the Buchholz container which causes a fall of the oil level in it.
