Let's start off with the term "ghosting". 👻 According to The Urban Dictionary, ghosting is "When a person cuts off all communication with their friends or the person they're dating, with zero warning or notice before hand. You'll mostly see them avoiding friend's phone calls, social media, and avoiding them in public." The dating sense of ghosting might find its roots in the idiom get ghost, meaning “to leave immediately; to disappear,” which gained popularity in '90s hip-hop. Nowadays ghosting can occur in various forms, including professional connections.
