FC Bayern München v GNK Dinamo - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD1 Photo by Marco Steinbrenner/DeFodi Images via Getty Images The Germany captain sounds like he’s ready to take on the role for Bayern, too. Bayern Munich was relentless in the home victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, finding the back of the net nine times. Harry Kane (4), Michael Olise (2), Raphaël Guerreiro, Leroy Sané, and Leon Goretzka all got in on the action.Joshua Kimmich didn’t score but did record two assists. This is an impressive achievement on its own, considering how deep Kimmich usually plays within the current offense.Kimmich has been the source of much controversy as he has been constantly linked to former coaches, especially Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and Hansi Flick at Barcelona. In his postgame interview with Maximilian Koch, Kimmich simply said, “It’s always nice when the club is behind you.”Kimmich went on to deflect the attention toward substitutes Sané and Goretzka. Kimmich said, “Both of them were rewarded with a goal straight away. It is important that we have a lot of guys who are excited.” Kimmich clearly has his sights set on gathering as many trophies as he can this season. His selfless leadership will continue to pay dividends as the matches start to stack up.Need to hear more about Bayern’s historic win? Holstein Kiel v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Marco Steinbrenner/DeFodi Images/DeFodi via Getty Images The Kool Aid has been drunken As all new things are, the new UEFA Champions League format is highly controversial. How much of the trepidation comes from the changes made that seem to benefit just the big clubs or the unfamiliarity of it all comes (or other reasons) comes down to the individual. For Bayern Munich’s board member for sport Max Eberl, it was the latter that truly concerned him. Speaking on Sport1’s Doppelpass, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, Eberl had this to say: “I’m excited, I was a bit torn, but I’ve been excited since the draw. It’s a different feeling, you’re playing against eight opponents - others are playing against completely different opponents. It’ll be exciting until the last matchday. In the past, the top two teams were usually decided after four games.”That is what it comes down to, in the end. Everybody wants a more unpredictable, exciting group phase (though how much this new format will be able to provide this is currently under scrutiny) but Bayern’s goal will be reaching the Champions League Finale Dahoam in Munich. Nothing else matters nearly as much.Looking for more discussion on Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga match vs. Werder Bremen? Holstein Kiel v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Stuart Franklin/Getty Images The Irish Guy might be on to something here… So, Bayern Munich just whacked Dinamo Zagreb (who were doing their best Hamburg SV impression) 9-2 on the first match of the revamped Champions League first phase. Records were surely broken during that massive win, and that’s what we have today.Touches of the ball with utter penetrationRecently, Jamal Musiala was dumped out of the Ballon d’Or shortlist to everyone’s surprise and dismay. For Musiala, he seems to have taken it personally because since then, he ran the show against Holstein Kiel as Bayern romped to a 1-6 away win. He has now carried that form into the Champions League and has joined former FC Barcelona stud Neymar in this stat:Only two players have had 10+ touches in the opposition box, created 7+ chances and provided multiple assists in a UCL game across the last nine seasons:Neymar vs. Celtic (2016) Jamal Musiala vs. Dinamo Zagreb (2024)– Squawka as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMiaNeed to hear more about Bayern’s historic win? Netherlands v Germany - UEFA Nations League 2024/25 League A Group A3 Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images It’s not over till it’s over. Bayern Munich has been pursuing Jonathan Tah for what seems like ages now, and this summer transfer window closed without any productive advances on either side. But Bayern will not be giving up. What could have been: Details regarding the transfer were revealed recently and we saw what Bayern Munich would have paid to finally get the German defender’s signature. The agreement, according to Sport Bild’s Christian Falk (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), included a €9 million salary plus €3 million in bonuses. The deal ultimately fell through since Bayer Leverkusen did not end up agreeing to the terms, and did not let their star defender go. However, Bayern Munich will not give up on their pursuit of Tah, as Max Eberl wants the defender on a free transfer next summer when his current contract will expire. What do you think? Is €12 million in salaries justifiable for Jonathan Tah? Or is Eberl chasing the wrong lead?Looking for more discussion on Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga match vs. Werder Bremen? FC Bayern München v GNK Dinamo - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD1 Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images Not all hope is lost, however, as Bayern Munich plans to face Werder Bremen. Neuer could be back tomorrow! According to a report form Bild journalist Heiko Niedderer, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer did not participate in team training this morning. Instead, Neuer worked out individually inside the training facility with hopes of returning to team practice on Friday: Info Manuel Neuer: He is not on the pitch, but is training individually inside. The plan is for him to be back on Friday. Neuer, of course, was removed from Bayern Munich’s Champions League match against Dinamo Zagreb due to an injury concern. With a Saturday game against Werder Bremen on the horizon, Neuer’s status — at least as of now — is uncertain. Should Neuer not be able to play, Sven Ulreich would get the starting nod. If all goes to plan, however, it seems as if Neuer is lining himself up to play on Saturday.Fans do not need to panic...yet. FC Bayern München v Sport-Club Freiburg - Bundesliga Photo by Christina Pahnke - sampics/Getty Images What a player, man. An absolute gem Bayern Munich took a huge gamble when they signed a lad named Mathys Tel who played less than five games for Stade Rennais the season before. Now, we all see what he can do, but isn’t getting a lot of minutes. The player himself knows why and wants to improve himself and his form so he can get his chance:Mathys Tel told @kicker he’s aware “that I didn’t play well in the first three games”, which is why he can completely understand why he wasn’t considered. Now he wants to repay as quickly as possible the trust that was placed in him through the contract extension until 2029 and present himself in better form again - just like in pre-season.– Georg Holzner from kicker as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMiaIt’s not often that a bench player with a lot of potential recognizes where he’s lacking and vows to fine tune his game.Looking for more discussion on Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga match vs. Werder Bremen? Netherlands v Germany - UEFA Nations League 2024/25 League A Group A3 Photo by Lars Baron/Getty Images Bayern’s attack will be absolute filth Bayern Munich have made it known that they are publicly courting Florian Wirtz. The Bayer Leverkusen star has previously indicated that he would like to move to a bigger club, despite a contract until 2027. This put Bayern on alert, and it looks like the Bavarians are planning to slide in another cheeky offer:2025 überlegt Bayern erneut einen Vorstoß bei Florian Wirtz zu wagen. Denn er hatte bereits vor Monaten angekündigt, trotz des Vertrags bis 2027 im kommenden Sommer den nächsten Schritt zu einem Weltklub machen zu wollen. Doch das könnte ordentlich teuer werden. [@SPORTBILD] pic.twitter.com/s9YrRuMTMD— FC Bayern News (@iMiaSanMia_GER) September 18, 2024In 2025, Bayern is considering making another move for Florian Wirtz. Months ago, he announced that he wanted to take the next step to a world-class club next summer, despite his contract running until 2027. But that could be very expensive. [@SPORTBILD]Bayern’s supporting cast behind Harry Kane is already impressive, with Jamal Musiala, Mathys Tel, Michael Olise, and others being any one of the three behind the striker. Throw in Wirtz in the middle, with Musiala and Olise flanking him. That’s just insane to think about. Musiala is already familiar with Wirtz, with both players pulling the strings in Germany’s win over Hungary. That serves as a glimpse of what both players can do when played with each other.Looking for more discussion on Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga match vs. Werder Bremen? Holstein Kiel v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Christina Pahnke - sampics/Getty Images These slight recurring niggles are becoming a cause for concern. Although Aleksandar Pavlović has risen to become one of Bayern Munich’s midfield staples, he is unfortunately battling against minor injuries throughout his professional career so far. When Bayern smashed Holstein Kiel 6-1, he remained on the bench and wasn’t even subbed on. What gives? The 20-year-old midfielder revealed that had a slight discomfort that stemmed from his most recent injury: “I was on the bench [against Kiel] because I had hamstring problems. That’s why I played zero minutes.” (Tz as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia)This isn’t the first time that injuries have prevented Pavlović from playing. He famously had to sit out the Euros in Germany because of his tonsilitis; he had made the final team selection by Julian Nagelsmann. With Sacha Boey picking up another serious injury at such a young age, the club will look to take care all their young players to the best of their abilities.Looking for more discussion on Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga match vs. Werder Bremen? Holstein Kiel v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Stuart Franklin/Getty Images Bayern Munich is gearing up to face Werder Bremen.... United to make play for Musiala? (PSG Talk)Manchester United is in the midst of an aggressive revamp, but it is lacking that one central figure who can change the complexion of its attack. The Red Devils might have identified the player who can fill that void — Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala: Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala’s contract runs until 2026, and now top European clubs are interested in the 21-year-old. Furthermore, the latest developments regarding the two sides’ inability to come to terms are good news for rival clubs.CaughtOffside recently reported that Liverpool have ramped up their interest in Musiala, with Manchester City, Real Madrid, and PSG also monitoring his situation. Additionally, other reports suggest that Barcelona are eyeing Musiala as a potential signing for 2025.Over the weekend, the Sunday Express revealed that Musiala has turned down Bayern Munich’s latest contract offer. He is said to be seeking wages in the region of £300,000 a week, leaving his future at the club uncertain. The Mirror provided the latest details on this potential saga as their information reveals that Bayern Munich are struggling to convince Musiala to sign a new contract. As a result, it could catch the attention of both Manchester City and Manchester United.Haaland eyeing future away from City (El Nacional via 90Min.com)Erling Haaland might be planning to move from Manchester CIty. FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain appear to be possible destinations: Erling Haaland has made it clear he sees his future away from Manchester City and a bidding war is expected for his services next summer. Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are already working on deals, with the Norway international expected to be available for €120m (£101.3m).The perfect club for Haaland already exists — Bayern Munich. Let’s follow this plan: Bayern Munich can win a trophy or three this season (fulfilling Harry Kane’s destiny) and the Englishman can move back to England to chase Alan Shearer’s record. Haaland inks a deal for five-years to fill Kane’s boots in Bavaria and we all walk away happy! That would be great, wouldn’t it?Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show: Werder Bremen vs. Bayern Munich (Bavarian Football Works)Bayern Munich will hook up with Werder Bremen in a Bundesliga showdown this weekend, which will showcase the league leaders (Bayern) vs. a squad that has still not taken a loss this season (Werder Bremen).Let’s take a look at the breakdown for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show: A look at where each team is in the table and the recent form of each squad. What to look for with Werder Bremen, what Bayern Munich connections are there, and why this team is just good enough to maybe be a pain the butt. FC Bayern München v GNK Dinamo - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD1 Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images Eliminate the bad plays. Do more of the good plays. Brilliant! Vincent Kompany’s first Champions League match as a manager was an absolute banger as Bayern Munich dismantled Dinamo Zagreb, 9-2. But it came with some tense moments as Bayern seemingly threw away a 3-0 lead in the opening minutes of the second half by conceding twice. As a former player, Kompany’s composure is starting to trickle down to his players. Bayern scored six unanswered goals to close out the second half.In his postgame interview (via @iMiaSanMia), Kompany said, “In the end it’s about the 3 points, the 9 goals we scored and the fact we won. The energy was good, the players enjoyed themselves on the pitch. We conceded twice because we were a step too late as a team, but we showed a reaction and it was a good evening for us.”Specifically asked about the second half errors (via @iMiaSanMia), Kompany added, “We still need to work on that. But we stayed calm and immediately created 3 big chances (after conceding twice). The mentality was there.”Need to hear more about Bayern’s historic win? FC Bayern München v GNK Dinamo - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD1 Photo by Marco Steinbrenner/DeFodi Images via Getty Images Thanks, but off with ya Leon Goretzka, once a regular starter for Bayern Munich, has seen pretty much 0 minutes played for the club this season. The club has clearly communicated that he is open to moving somewhere else, but he won’t budge. Now it looks like the 29-year-old midfielder is starting to realize that the club meant it:During the talks with Max Eberl, Leon Goretzka insisted that he didn’t want to leave Bayern in the summer but that he would reassess his situation in January. If his situation and game time didn’t improve by then, Goretzka would consider a move away from Bayern, with the Premier League being an option. Manchester United were interested in Goretzka in the past, there was loose contact but no concrete negotiations – Sport Bild journo Christian Falk as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMiaOnce players return from injury, it will be much harder to try and break into the starting XI, let alone the first team. This is nearly similar to what Bastian Schweinsteiger experienced when he moved to—coincidentally—Man United.
