VfB Stuttgart v AC Sparta Praha - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD2 Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images via Getty Images A tale that has become too familiar as of late. Julian Nagelsmann’s affinity for VfB Stuttgart players continues to grow. Reportedly, the German national team coach recently contacted Stuttgart’s Atakan Karazor to inquire his interest in playing for the senior national team. The Stuttgart midfielder, however, decided on Türkiye. This marks yet another recent talent to opt for Türkiye rather than playing for Die Mannschaft.Stuttgart's Atakan Karazor has decided to play for Türkiye even though he had recently been contacted by Julian Nagelsmann [@_dennisbayer, @berger_pj] pic.twitter.com/nvoUJspWjy— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) September 30, 2024At 27-years-old, Karazor could perhaps be at the peak of his career and is currently valued at 15 million euros. Karazor was one of the players to see a considerable rise in value after Stuttgart’s wonder season that saw them finish second in the Bundesliga.Born in Germany, Karazor has played in Germany his whole career but decided to opt for Türkiye. Although Karazor wouldn’t single-handedly propel Germany to tournament favorites but could certainly be a contributor. Germany may not be devastated from this loss, but a pattern is certainly emerging as several players have rejected the German national team despite long-time involvement.Türkiye is either an excellent recruiter or Germany has fell behind in attracting top talent to the national team. Paul Wanner, all eyes are on you now.

FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - Bundesliga Photo by Christina Pahnke - sampics/Getty Images Isn’t it nice to be able to discuss transfer targets again? Kabse hai intezaar, jazbaat-e-ranjish ka?After a fairly lengthy hiatus, we are back to discussing players that fit Bayern Munich again! If it wasn’t obvious, with how dissonant the Bayern squad and Thomas Tuchel’s systems were, it was impossible to identify singular players to target as what was really required to play Tuchelball was an entire squad overhaul. However, with Vincent Kompany now at the helm, the squad is functioning at a very high level in harmony with the system, and we can now once again look at individual profiles to help the squad reach a higher level. As used to be tradition for these sorts of articles, we will not be including players that have been linked with Bayern, purely looking at alternatives to those players. You should come south of the river, with the chains and the gold.Bart Verbruggen (Brighton & Hove Albion) Ajax v Brighton & Hove Albion - UEFA Europa League Photo by Jeroen van den Berg/Soccrates/Getty Images You call it aging, I call it surrender.Look, we all love Manuel Neuer here, but let’s be honest. The man is 38, and cannot have more than two or three years left in him at a top level. It seemed originally like Neuer was ready to let his career wind down after winning the treble in 2020, and Bayern secured the future of the goalkeeping position by signing Alexander Nübel for free. This is still the best possible solution the club could have found, as Nübel has for the last four years evolved into an extremely capable goalkeeper and perhaps the closest profile to Neuer in Europe. However, it has been four years since this signing, and Nübel is now 28, and while that isn’t ‘old’ by any means, especially for a goalkeeper, it would be better if Bayern looked to secure the long-term future of the position, and this is where Bart Verbruggen steps in.The 22-year-old shot-stopper is already the #1 for the Netherlands’ national team, and is part of a Brighton & Hove Albion team that look thoroughly impressive in the Premier League. Verbruggen has been touted as a top-tier prospect for a while, first garnering interest from high level clubs at RSC Anderlecht in Belgium, and for good reason. The Dutchman stands at 6’4” and is incredibly agile which of course makes him a menace for both shooters and crossers, but Verbruggen is also extremely capable in build-up. The kicker? Verbruggen has worked extensively with Vincent Kompany already, having been signed by Anderlecht under Kompany and developing into the player he is now under him. A chance to re-unite with the coach that took him to the European stage at Bayern Munich would likely be highly appealing.Verbruggen signed for Brighton just last year and has a contract running until 2028. If he was to be targeted next summer, he would probably cost around €30m, with Transfermarkt valuing him at €22m. Verbruggen earns just north of €2m per annum at Brighton, an upgrade on which should be no problem for Bayern, considering current deputy Sven Ulreich earns as much.Rodrigo Zalazar (SC Braga) SL Benfica v SC Braga - Portuguese Cup Photo by Pedro Loureiro/Eurasia Sport Images/Getty Images I don’t get the way you feel, and this ain’t a movie reel, and don’t be afraid to love and love again. In an earlier article, we posited that Bayern sign Sporting CP’s Pedro Gonçalves. However, ‘Pote’ is now not just an elite player in Portugal but one of the finest across Europe and would cost a pretty penny, playing to the high ceiling he was known to be capable of then. Bayern must now look at an alternative, and I believe Rodrigo Zalazar is the guy. One of the offensive systems Kompany has utilised this system uses Sacha Boey at right-back holding width with the right-winger inverting and playing as a hybrid no10 alongside Jamal Musiala, primarily in the right half-space.Rodrigo Zalazar possesses the perfect qualities to play this role, having played both…

Aston Villa FC v FC Bayern München - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD2 Photo by Julian Finney - UEFA/UEFA via Getty Images Now that Musiala is injured, what will Kompany do? With one draw and one loss in the last two games, Vincent Kompany is suddenly feeling the pressure now. Bayern Munich is not a team that tolerates dropped points, and failure to win against Frankfurt will raise a lot of uncomfortable questions right before an international break. To make matters worse, Jamal Musiala is officially sidelined with a hip injury, and the team has no one who can take over his role as the main attacking midfielder. Well, there is this one guy, but he’s far too old, and hasn’t started a game since August. Surely Kompany couldn’t be that desperate? Team newsAside from Musiala, it’s mostly good news. Hiroki Ito is back training individually, though Sacha Boey and Josip Stanišić remain injured. Two-thirds of that trio could be back after the international break, but Kompany will have to deal with his absentees (for now). So, what kind of lineup do we expect? Well, assuming that Kompany continues to ignore You Know Who, we may see a continuation of the four-man attacking setup that started against Aston Villa. That means Harry Kane up top, with Michael Olise behind him, and Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry on the wings. Aleksandar Pavlović and Joshua Kimmich are likely to continue their stint in midfield, while Raphaël Guerreiro probably swaps in for Konrad Laimer at right-back. The rest of the XI remains unchanged — don’t expect Vincent Kompany to make major tactical alterations at this juncture. Assuming things stay as they have been, here’s a likely starting XI: Media Looking for a more in-depth preview of the game? Then check out our preview podcast! Aston Villa FC v FC Bayern München - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD2 Photo by James Gill - Danehouse/Getty Images Bayern Munich is set to face off against Eintracht Frankfurt… Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany is solely focused on walking into Eintracht Frankfurt’s stadium and leaving with three points on Sunday. “Playing in Frankfurt is always special. Their team is strong on the counter, with many young players and a lot of talent. The club and the team can still grow. But for us it’s also a normal game. We want to get our points and carry on in the Bundesliga,” Kompany said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I’m only thinking about the next game, which is Frankfurt. After every game, whether you win or lose, the next game is the only thing that counts. We can take a lot with us into the next game. That has to be the basis for success in the next game.”The Bavarians are a little banged up and added Jamal Musiala’s name to list of walking wounded this week. Will that mean more playing time for Leroy Sané and Thomas Müller?“It’s a real pity that Jamal isn’t available. We all know how good he is.But at the end of the day he’s a young player and we decided it was better for him to get rest and come back at 100%. Our priority is that he stays fit. We have 100% confidence in all our players, Leroy is one of them,” said Kompany. “Let’s wait until tomorrow. We have said many times how important Thomas is for this club. He’s very special. He showed that again with his goal against Freiburg. I always make decisions to win the game. It’s never a decision against a certain player, but a decision for another player. There’s always a story about a player who does not play.”Finally, Kompany was asked if his style of play was too “risky”, but the boss said he did not want to be defined by any one particular philosophy. “Play style is not a word I use often. The way we play is pragmatic for me - it’s not about style. When you lose, you have to get up and win the next game. That’s our goal for tomorrow. I don’t forget what we achieved in those games,” Kompany said.Looking for some thoughts on the big Bayern Munich match against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga? FC Bayern München Training Session And Press Conference - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD2 Photo by S. Mellar/FC Bayern via Getty Images While on the outside, the mood about Kompamy’s reign has changed awfully fast, the players were quick to get along with Kompany Every Bayern Munich fan knows just how stark the disappointment of the 2023/2024 season was due to, among other reasons, being the first trophy-less season since 2011/12. But as great as the disappointment was, the greater the determination is now to make things right. “Not winning a trophy has given us motivation, I would say so, of course,” Bayern winger Serge Gnabry said, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “Every time you fail in a kind of way, it gives you a little bit of an edge of more motivation. We want to win every game. We’re coming here to win the game. We have a great group together. We’re all pulling on the same string. Very hungry, very motivated.“[Kompany has taught me] to stay hungry. We’ve shown that at the moment. Our games are very consistent. We always keep pushing until the last minute to not let anything slip in the game or let loose. Always keep control of the game. For us attacking players, it’s good to have a lot of chances to score a lot of goals.”Gnabry and the other attackers have certainly held up their end of the bargain so far this season, delivering countless goals in thrilling victories and total performances. But good performances in the early months of the season do not win trophies (unless you count the Supercup) and it is important that this hunger and motivation sticks around for the crucial part of the season.

SV Werder Bremen v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Stuart Franklin/Getty Images From wonderkid to leading man. After a pretty successful campaign on home turf in EURO 2024, the German men’s national team has a lot of experience and veteran leadership to replace.Die Mannschaft may turn to one of its youngest, brightest stars in Bayern Munich virtuoso Jamal Musiala.Already among the leading players on the field at the EUROs, Musiala is increasingly well equipped to lead the charge — and is facing inquiries over whether Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann is already looking to lean on him, despite his age. That will surely come — with time, though.“During the EUROs, I realized that I can take on more responsibility,” Musiala explained in an interview with Welt am Sonntag (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “But each of us has to take on that responsibility on the pitch. We help each other. The more experience I gain, the more I will grow into a leadership role.”Between Musiala, Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, and others, the future of the German men’s national team looks to be in good hands.Musiala, of course, will not be jumping into that leadership role during the upcoming international break, thanks to a hip ailment.

FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - Bundesliga Photo by M. Donato/FC Bayern via Getty Images Here we go again... Didi Hamann would best be described as a Bayern Munich hypercritic, or as today’s generation would put it, a hater. Coming off his nonsensical jab calling Jamal Musiala a solo performer earlier this season, Hamann’s latest target is star striker Harry Kane.Following Bayern’s loss away to Aston Villa in midweek, Hamann had this to say in his column for Sky Germany:Harry Kane also had a personally sobering evening in Birmingham - in addition to the defeat. I said after the European Championship in the summer that he still has to prove that he is worth the 100 million - even though he scored over 30 goals last year,” wrote Hamman on his. He wasn’t brought in to score a hat-trick against Darmstadt. He was brought in to score against Leverkusen and Aston Villa and to score in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. He hasn’t done that yet. But I remain skeptical about the star striker.Of course, Bayern hope that he finds form, because the discussions will come. And I think they are not that far away. If I am so dominant against Leverkusen and Villa, then I expect one of the best players in the business to create a goal-scoring opportunity out of nothing in 90 minutes and become a goal threat. That is not the impression at the moment.Hamann seems to love providing baseless criticism of world-class Bayern strikers and becoming the subject of a bashing by club officials: as notably seen in 2019 after his comments calling Lewandowski ‘a problem’ for Bayern. When asked about Hamann’s comments on Kane, Max Eberl provided a fitting response to the former constantly running his mouth about Bayern players this season. “Didi Hamann is like a tinnitus in the ear. It comes up every three days.” (via @iMiaSanMia)Kane hasn't been asked about the comments and it is unlikely he will respond, but he won’t need to thanks to Eberl shutting Hamman up once again. Seems like this will become a recurring theme this season — unless Hamann learns his place.

FC Bayern München v F.C. Copenhagen: Group A - UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Photo by Stefan Matzke - sampics/Getty Images Bayern Munich’s latest documentary following last season’s Champions League run is certainly intriguing — we watched it so you don’t have to, and here’s what we thought. Bayern Munich’s official club documentary following the team across the turbulent previous season was just made available to all fans on YouTube, previously only being available on FC Bayern TV Plus. Spanning 57 minutes, it is just short of a feature-length documentary. Don’t worry if you’re still on the fence about watching it — this review should help you decide. The documentary was touted to have exclusive, behind-the-scenes insight into the team and never-before-seen interviews with the players as they offered their thoughts on certain games. It delivered on that promise...to some extent. The cinematography was great, with new match clips from different angles. The interviews were filmed at different spots across the club facilities and made for an interesting variety of footage. It all came together fairly well with well-timed cuts and great editing. Visually, no complaints. There was even some new, club footage of the fans before the home leg of the Real Madrid tie.It did a great job of highlighting the season's lows and then contrasting them with the sudden, unexpected highs — showing the club and its players’ resilience in those tough moments. The storyline wrote itself, but the documentary focused on the right games without taking away from the viewing experience. It aims to strengthen further the Mia San Mia feeling within the viewer and does accomplish that quite well.Unfortunately, a lot of the player interviews seemed robotic (or rather, scripted) and rehearsed. It would have been more interesting to understand how the players felt in each moment rather than repetitive statements about the club’s size and fans’ expectations after each win/loss. The timeline of the interviews didn’t make complete sense either, because some statements were made in the present tense but seemed to have been filmed after the season. It felt slightly inorganic. There were still some very interesting tidbits from Alphonso Davies and Harry Kane in there. Thomas Müller’s statements were fresh and there was a revealing conversation between Leon Goretzka and Konrad Laimer about the midfield against Arsenal. As an additional note, the bulk of the interviews and commentary are in German, however, the club has provided accurately translated English subtitles on YouTube. Kane, Dier, and Davies did talk in English and it should still be a good viewing experience for non-German fans.Overall, it is an amazing piece of content that fans regardless of whether or not they support Bayern will surely enjoy watching. It is a look into the moments that can make or break a season through a renewed lens with great visuals and the players themselves talking through each moment.VERDICT: 8/10 — worth a watch!Watch the documentary here on YouTube:One can only hope that the current Champions League season offers the club another opportunity to make a documentary with a happier ending.Do watch the doc and tell us your thoughts in the comments below! If you have already watched it, tell us what you think!

FC Bayern München Travel To Birmingham Photo by S. Mellar/FC Bayern via Getty Images Bayern Munich faces off with Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday... Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl is not fretting the team’s consecutive winless matches against Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and Aston Villa in the Champions League. ”Both games, Leverkusen and Villa, were games that we would win if we played them more often. The results were not the reward for the work we did. You can’t lose that game against Villa. The only thing we can criticize against Villa was that we were at 95-96 percent. We all have to push ourselves to the absolute limit. We have to do the same in Frankfurt. The stakes are high there. We will face a similar intensity to the one we faced in Villa Park,” said Eberl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). The Bavarians will get the chance to find a way back on the winning track against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, but will have to do so without Jamal Musiala. While this one is not necessarily a “must win”, it is a “must have” three points if the Bavarians want to keep their distance over Die Adler and the other contenders in the Bundesliga table. Bayer 04 Leverkusen v Holstein Kiel - Bundesliga Photo by Joris Verwijst/BSR Agency/Getty Images Fiete Arp helped out his old club in a big way vs. Bayer Leverkusen... Holstein Kiel did it again! The (sometimes) giant killers, who knocked Bayern Munich from the 2020/21 DFB-Pokal, earned a 2-2 draw against reigning Bundesliga champion Bayer Leverkusen. And...Holstein Kiel did so with some help from an old friend — former Bayern Munich prospect Fiete Arp. In the 68th minute, Holstein Kiel’s Armin Gigović took advantage of some sloppy defending from Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong and drew a foul, which set the stage for Arp to have this moment in the sun. Arp calmly stepped to the spot and buried the penalty kick with a hard ground-ball to to left of Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Lukáš Hrádecký.Fiete gleicht vom Punkt aus!

Real Madrid v FC Bayern München: Semi-final Second Leg - UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Photo by Pablo Morano/BSR Agency/Getty Images Kroos feels those in and around the club should not get too carried away with how they have started brightly. It took a spectacular effort from Aston Villa’s Jhon Durán, but there is now finally a proper blip in Vincent Kompany’s start to life as Bayern Munich manager. The 1-0 loss at Villa Park in the Champions League marks the first defeat of the season for the Rekordmeister across all competitions, following closely on the heels of a 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga just a few days earlier. Bayern arguably deserved all three points against Die Werkself, but the same cannot really be said of their performance in Birmingham — Unai Emery’s side were the deserved winners.Even so, there remains a positive atmosphere in the Bayern camp with how brightly Kompany’s tenure has begun, despite it being early days. A 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb, a 6-1 win over Holstein Kiel, and a 5-0 win over Werder Bremen have certainly helped boost spirits, but the trio of aforementioned sides are arguably less of a threat than this current Aston Villa team.Former Bayern and Germany midfielder Lothar Matthäus recently expressed his delight with Bayern’s season thus far and made a bold comparison to the Pep Guardiola-era Bayern teams of the past. He suggested this side might even be better than those Guardiola teams that won a plethora of silverware, excluding the Champions League. However, former Bayern midfielder Toni Kroos feels that comparison might be premature.“It’s still early in the season. It’s early October, and people are already going crazy again. Stop it. The season is four weeks old, and people are talking about Guardiola football and how everything looks better now, only to say at the end of October, after two bad games, that it looks like it did under… I don’t know, name someone. They’ve played three very good weeks, that’s correct. If they can do it against the strong teams, then I’d happily join in. But to say already it’s better than under Guardiola? You have to be careful,” Kroos recently explained on the podcast Einfach Mal Luppen (via @iMiaSanMia). Aston Villa FC v FC Bayern Munchen - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD2 Photo by James Baylis - AMA/Getty Images At face value, the recent Germany and Real Madrid retiree has a point. Against both Leverkusen and Villa, Bayern has a draw and a loss. These are the only stronger sides they have faced so far this season, without taking anything away from their other performances. You have to beat whoever is in front of you, and there are never any easy matches in any competition, whether it’s the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, or Champions League. Still, Kroos, who was deemed not worth the money by the Bayern front office at the time of his departure, is wary of anyone at the club getting too carried away. The opportunities for Bayern to get Kroos on the hype train are there. Both before and shortly after the October international break, they face matches against Eintracht Frankfurt, VfB Stuttgart, and FC Barcelona, offering one of the more challenging stretches of the season.Looking for some thoughts on the big Bayern Munich match against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga? FC Bayern München v AS Monaco - Pre-Season Friendly Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images via Getty Images Given that two of them are Austrian, I almost feel like this journey brings him closer to joining the Austrian national team Considering just how much of Bayern Munich’s current youth system relies on loans to develop players, it is remarkable that the club did not have a loan manager to organize them all and keep in touch until last year. When sporting director Christoph Freund was appointed, installing Richard Kitzbichler as loan manager was one of the very first things he did. Among other players, the Austrian kept in touch with Paul Wanner during his stint in the 2. Bundesliga at SV Elversberg. Now, he is joined by Eberl and Freund in giving Wanner attention as the 18-year-old makes waves in the Bundesliga with Heidenheim.Speaking to the official English Bundesliga website, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, Wanner confirmed this contact and said the following: “Richard Kitzbichler, Christoph Freund and Max Eberl are important and I speak to them a lot. All of them give me a good feeling and also tell me what I can improve and what I must improve, while also telling me what I already do well. They’re helping me on my journey.” There is actually a short video on the official Bayern website that captures the work of Kitzbichler, with Wanner making a brief cameo while checking in with his fellow Austrian for a brief (and honestly kind of awkward) video call. It may or may not require an FCBayernTV subscription, though.

Pre-Season Friendly1.FC Duren v FC Bayern Munchen Photo by ANP via Getty Images Bayern munich is likely eager to get Hiroki Ito back in the fold... Bayern Munich might not have to wait too much longer to get Hiroki Ito back on the squad.
