Barca keeping close eye on Sané (Barca Universal)Bayern Munich star Leroy Sané is nearing the end of his contract, and while rumors have circulated that the club wants to extend his deal, several factors may complicate that decision. An expected salary reduction across the board, the emergence of Michael Olise, and Bayern’s anticipated pursuit of Florian Wirtz next summer could all influence how much the club is willing to invest in Sané’s salary to keep him. If Bayern Munich hesitates, FC Barcelona might be ready to step in. More importantly, Barça is always on the lookout for financially savvy deals, and as a free transfer, Sané becomes an even more attractive option for the Catalans:Barcelona are keeping a close watch on Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane as they explore potential signings for the upcoming summer transfer window, reports SPORT. The outlet mentions that with their financial situation yet to be determined, Barça’s sporting department is assessing opportunities, particularly for players whose contracts are nearing their end. One of the standout names is Sane, who has been on the club’s radar in the past, but a deal never came to fruition due to the high cost involved.Sane’s current contract with Bayern Munich is set to expire at the end of the season, and while he had previously aimed to extend his stay at the German club, his situation has shifted considerably. The arrival of Michael Olise at Bayern has seen Sane’s role reduced, with him spending more time on the bench. This has even affected his position with the German national team, as he is no longer a regular choice. Despite ongoing discussions with Bayern, the winger is unlikely to remain at the club if he does not secure a place as a regular starter. As a result, he could be available for free next summer. Adding to the complexity of the situation, Sané switched agents last summer. His previous representatives had a good relationship with Barcelona, and talks were held about a possible transfer two summers ago. Interestingly, Bayern’s €50 million asking price and Sane’s high wages made the move impossible at the time. These financial demands remain a significant obstacle, especially if Sané wishes to maintain his current salary, which could make a deal with Barcelona difficult.Set to turn 29 in January, Sane is still in a strong phase of his career. He is currently valued at €70 million and has been an integral part of Bayern Munich for four years since his €50 million move from Manchester City. Under Hansi Flick, Sane played a pivotal role in Bayern’s success, contributing to several title wins during Flick’s tenure. Barcelona are keen to add a dynamic winger to their squad for the next season. Although Nico Williams is seen as their top target, his transfer could prove too costly. Sane fits the profile of the kind of player Barça are looking for, offering the necessary flair and creativity on the wing. For now, the Catalan club remains fully informed of his situation and will continue to monitor developments.Gunners scoping Šeško, Vlahović (TBR Football via 90Min.com)Arsenal FC sent scouts to watch RB Leipzig and Juventus do battle in the Champions League as they have interest in both RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško and Juventus’ Dušan Vlahović: Arsenal scouts watched Juventus’ 3-2 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League, with strikers Dušan Vlahović and Benjamin Šeško both of interest to the Gunners.Olise, Müller, Kimmich recognized for Eintracht efforts (kicker via @iMiaSanMia) Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise was named to Bundesliga Team of the Week for kicker and WhoScored.com: Michael Olise in @kicker's Bundesliga Team of the Week pic.twitter.com/FAnXLaAFMw— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) October 6, 2024 Bundesliga Team of the Week pic.twitter.com/mqMg0lXWYZ— WhoScored.com (@WhoScored) October 7, 2024Meanwhile, Thomas Müller and Joshua…

Welcome to the FC Bayern Campus Round Up, where the matches of Bayern Munich’s U-17, U-19 and U-23s are recapped. However, the U-19s did not have a weekend game so instead the team’s UEFA Youth League match against Aston Villa will be recapped. Lineups are provided and the highlights to each match are hyperlinked on top of their respective result. Without further ado, here is the round up:Eintracht Bamberg 0-2 Bayern IIBayern lineup (with subs): Schmitt – Brückner, Dettoni, Scholl, Dell’Erba – Denk, Rüger – Demircan (90. Eckl), Ibrahimović (46. Unsöld), Irankunda (90. Kouam) – Wagner.Goals [opposition goals]: 0:1 Denk (10.), 0:2 Unsöld (60.).Unavailable players (*=with the U-19s for the UEFA Youth League) : Younes Aitamer, Javier Fernandez, Jonathan Asp Jensen, Vincent Manuba, Guido Della Rovere, Lennard Becker, Moritz Mosandl, Benjamin Ballis, Timo Kern, Steve Breitkreuz, Jonah Kusi-Asare*, Noel Aseko Nkili*, Adam Aznou*, Adin Ličina*Finally, the winless run ends as Bayern beat Eintracht Bamberg. The hosts had beat Bayern in the other fixture this year, coming out 2-1 winners back in May, so a win was hardly a guarantee coming into this match but it was never in question as, despite a horribly depleted squad, the Bavarians utterly dominated throughout. Combine this domination with Luca Denk’s early opener and it was a rather comfortably afternoon for Bayern. But what a goal it was from Denk. If you for some reason missed the last Bayern Campus Round Up (shame on you), he scored an utterly brilliant piledriver from around 35 yards just last week. And, somehow. he did it again this week. This time, he was closer to the goal but he had less time to shoot, took one touch to turn and produced an utterly gorgeous shot that was both powerful but also dipped ferociously, allowing it to sneak under the crossbar and find the top right corner. Another cause for celebration was the return of Arijon Ibrahimović. Injured in late July, it has taken over two months for the youngster to return to match fitness. Nevertheless, he was only fit enough for one half. Whether Ibrahimović will get his game time with the U-23s or if he will now gather playing time in the Bundesliga with the senior squad remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: Despite his total lack of sharpness, he demonstrated in this match that he is far too good for the Regionalliga. In case anyone needed a reminder of that fact. With this win, Bayern manage to stay in 5th. The distance between top of the table 1. FC Schweinfurt and the team remains 9 points, though the Bavarians keep their game in hand. Bayern II was set to face off against the league leaders, but the game would have happened during the international break and had to be postponed due to Bayern’s internationals. Instead, Bayern II’s next game will be against 2nd place FV Illertissen on Friday, October 18 at 12:00PM CST. It will give the young Bavarians the chance to stake the claim as Schweinfurt’s most serious competitors.Aston Villa 0-1 Bayern U-19Bayern lineup (with subs): Klanac - Aznou, Puljić, Mijatović, Dalpiaz - Santos - Scott (58. Ličina), Aseko (70. Binder), Nasrawe (58. Richter), Chávez (87. Schuhbauer) - Kusi-Asare (87. Codjo-Evora).Goal: 0:1 Kusi-Asare (64.)Unavailable players: Max Mergner, Iwinosa Uhuns, Sadiki ChemworDue to some awkward scheduling, the U-19s faced Aston Villa in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday and Bayern II faced Eintracht Bamberg on Thursday, the kind of scheduling that simply not allow any of the players to participate in both matches. And Bayern always prioritizes the Youth League. Therefore, multiple Bayern II players were chosen to be part of the U-19 squad instead of their regular team- though Nestory Irankunda was unexpectedly not part of this group. Fortunately, both of Bayern’s youth teams managed to win their games and this match proved…

Heidenheim followed up this exciting European Thursday with a lackluster Bundesliga Sunday against Leipzig. Wanner started this match, but could not really do much to keep the magic going from the midweek. After four total shots on Thursday, he was not able to record a single shot Sunday. Eintracht Frankfurt v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images Always pick the red team! The sixth matchday of the Bundesliga was filled with intrigue, especially regarding late goals. In a matchup between the top two teams in the table, Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt battled it out to a thrilling 3-3 draw, Holstein Kiel magically found a draw against Bayer Leverkusen, and Leipzig stayed undefeated to move into a tie with Bayern at the top of the table. The Bundesliga will take next weekend off due to the international break, but Saturday the 19th will showcase a few juicy matchups:Stuttgart at Bayern MunichEintracht Frankfurt at Bayer LeverkusenRB Leipzig at MainzAugsburg at FreiburgThis series will recap each team’s performance and rank the Bundesliga teams following each matchday. The ranking system is based on the quality of performances, opponents, and recent matches.1) Bayern MunichPrevious Ranking: 1Bundesliga Results: WWWWD + 3-3 draw at Eintracht FrankfurtBayern drove at Frankfurt with full force for 90 minutes but the ricochet was just as painful. Kim Min-jae, Dayot Upamecano, and Michael Olise each scored a well placed goal. Ultimately, Bayern’s game plan didn’t adequately account for Frankfurt’s lightning counterattacks.2) Eintracht FrankfurtPrevious Ranking: 2Bundesliga Results: LWWWW + 3-3 draw vs Bayern MunichFrankfurt was more or less outplayed, but league leading scorer Omar Marmoush (8 goals) didn’t really care. Marmoush answered Bayern’s first goal almost immediately and then snuck out for another breakaway in stoppage time to earn a point. Frankfurt has to play Leverkusen in a couple weeks but Marmoush and Hugo Ekitike look unstoppable right now.3) RB LeipzigPrevious Ranking: 4Bundesliga Results: WWDDW + 1-0 win at HeidenheimAfter a heartbreaking loss to Juventus in the Champions League, Leipzig rebounded with a narrow victory on the road. Per usual, Loïs Openda played the role of “game changer” by beating the Heidenheim goalkeeper with an unlikely near post goal in the 59th minute. Péter Gulácsi and Leipzig’s brick wall defense produced the fourth clean sheet in the last six matches. Leipzig heads into the international break tied with Bayern at the top of the table.4) Bayer LeverkusenPrevious Ranking: 3Bundesliga Results: WLWWD + 2-2 draw vs Holstein KielLeverkusen’s Jekyll and Hyde personality was back on full display. Victor Boniface and Jonas Hofmann scored easy goals in the first eight minutes and Leverkusen was off to the races. Leverkusen fell into a lull and allowed the underdog to recover. Leverkusen is still in the top five but is lacking the magical touch that defined last year’s undefeated campaign.5) FreiburgPrevious Ranking: 7Bundesliga Results: WLWWL + 1-0 win at Werder BremenAfter the surprising loss last weekend, Freiburg played a more controlled match where both teams sat deep and took less chances. The strategy paid off when Ritsu Doan found the game’s only goal in the 75th minute. Goalkeeper Noah Atubolu made three big saves throughout the match to hold the clean sheet.6) Union BerlinPrevious Ranking: 10Bundesliga Results: DWDWL + 2-1 win vs Borussia DortmundUnion Berlin’s pressure overwhelmed a lethargic Dortmund team into two first half goals. Kevin Vogt placed a precision penalty kick in the 26th minute, and Yorbe Vertessen hit a loose ball from the top of the box for the game winner right before halftime. For a team that has been struggling to score, finding 14 shots against a top tier side is a healthy recipe for an upset. 7) StuttgartPrevious Ranking: 6Bundesliga Results: LDWWD + 1-1 draw vs HoffenheimWhen all hope was lost, Deniz Undav earned a penalty kick late in stoppage time and super sub Ermedin Demirović scored off his own rebound to steal a point. Stuttgart were the better team but gave away a goal right before halftime. Stuttgart continues to be a tough out for every opponent but needs to earn more wins and less draws if they want to play in the Champions League again next season.8) Borussia…

Eintracht Frankfurt v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by M. Donato/FC Bayern via Getty Images The injury gods are testing Bayern Munich... Bayern Munich stars Harry Kane and Dayot Upamecano both left the team’s 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt due to injuries. As of now, head coach Vincent Kompany cannot give an assessment on where things stand with both players. “It’s still too early to say what Harry has. We hope it’s nothing serious. The same goes for Upamecano. This week was a real test for our team to see how dominant we can be against such teams three times in a week. If there’s nothing serious, then it’s a good sign of what we can achieve this season. Of course, we have to have everyone fit. Hopefully it’s nothing serious,” Kompany said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). L’Equipe is reporting that Upamecano has already underwent an MRI (via @iMiaSanMia): Dayot Upamecano has undergone an MRI scan after he was subbed off against Frankfurt with a slight hamstring problem. The results, expected tonight, will determine whether Upamecano will join the French national team for the upcoming games. If there was a time for Bayern Munich’s players to get hurt, now is as good a time as any. Aston Villa FC v FC Bayern München - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD2 Photo by Jose Breton/Pics Action/NurPhoto via Getty Images Trust the process, Bayern fans. Over the past eight days, Bayern Munich has faced two Champions League opponents (Bayer Leverkusen and Aston Villa) and a rising Europa League squad (Eintracht Frankfurt). Bayern outplayed all three opponents but only earned two points across the three matches. While Bayern boss Vincent Kompany is a relatively young manager at 38-years-old, his vast playing experience is still serving as a guiding light.“Let’s just stay calm,” Kompany told DAZN (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “It was a great performance from the team today. We had so many chances. We probably deserved more. We have to keep going more simply, go our own way and have faith that such performances will bring us the results in the end. I have a lot of hope. What this team is doing is not normal. I have enough experience. If we continue like this, we will win games again. We have to stay calm.”The Bayern faithful tend to overreact when the team doesn’t win every match by a 3-0 margin or better. In order to maintain the trust and support of the board and the fan base, Kompany will need to produce at least three wins to close out the month.Has Vincent Kompany been exposed? Why has Harry Kane stopped scoring? Does Manuel Neuer need a replacement? If you’re asking those questions, we discuss all that and more in the newest edition of our podcast! Eintracht Frankfurt v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by M. Donato/FC Bayern via Getty Images There’s really nothing to panic about. Bundesliga matchday 6 has come and gone, with Bayern Munich only managing a 3-3 draw against a high-flying Eintracht Frankfurt side. Coming off the back of a midweek defeat to Aston Villa in the Champions League and a draw to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, Bayern has gone three consecutive games without a win.Hoping to bounce out of their recent slump, the Bundesliga record champions approached the match in Frankfurt with an attacking mindset, sending a barrage of quality attempts toward the opposition goal. After Kim Min-jae's strike hit the back of the net on fifteen minutes, one would be forgiven for thinking that Bayern was on the road to an easy victory.Speaking to DAZN after the match (captured via @iMiaSanMia), Thomas Müller touched on Bayern’s promise in the early phases of the game, saying, “I thought the first 20 minutes were even better than on Wednesday [against Aston Villa]. In my opinion, we have to win this game. We would probably win 13 out of 15 such games and I think we showed a good way of playing. It was a pleasure to see how we tied down the opponent because we had a lot of chances to score.”Müller isn’t just coping with the result by sharing these thoughts, as the underlying data corroborates the narrative Müller is pushing. Bayern maintained possession 74% of the time and created 2.06 expected goals across 24 shots compared to Frankfurt’s 1.24 expected goals from six shots (FotMob). Not one to overlook a good performance, Müller complimented his opponents, highlighting their key performers, explaining, “Frankfurt had an outstanding goalkeeper at the back. Ekitiké [and] Marmoush put their chances away with no problems. Crisis? I’m very happy to be in a crisis where we haven’t won three games. The feeling is still outstanding, but the results were not what we wanted.”Despite a discrepancy between the expected result and the final score, Frankfurt deserved their point, and Bayern has to improve when it comes to defending counter-attacks. Frankfurt knew Bayern’s weaknesses, stuck to their game plan, and it worked.Under Vincent Kompany, Bayern play an exciting and in some cases volatile brand of football. Bayern might have “won” on expected goals, but looking at the number of big chances created, Bayern fashioned four to Frankfurt’s three (FotMob). When a team pushes so many players forward, is constantly on the front foot, there is a risk that these sort of opportunities arise. Even if Dayot Upamecano and Eric Dier could’ve, perhaps should’ve, done better against Frankfurt’s attackers, no center-back in world football won’t at some point look bad when constantly being put under such a large amount of difficult, high-pressure situations. Bayern may have dropped points here, but over the course of the season, this is a playstyle that (with some minor tweaks) will not only allow Bayern to regain its Bundesliga crown, but go far in the Champions League.Has Vincent Kompany been exposed? Why has Harry Kane stopped scoring? Does Manuel Neuer need a replacement? If you’re asking those questions, we discuss all that and more in the newest edition of our podcast! FC Bayern Munich Training Session Photo by S. Mellar/FC Bayern via Getty Images Would that be the best choice? Leroy Sané’s contract at Bayern Munich is set to expire in June of 2025, but the club wants to keep him in Munich at all costs, but is it for the right reasons?Sané has had inconsistent seasons at Bayern Munich for the last couple of years, and it is no secret that the club is constantly monitoring his situation. However, according to a new report (via Matteo Moretto, captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern wants to avoid letting him go, no matter what. Since the German international’s contract is set to expire next year, chances are that, if he leaves, he will be leaving on a free transfer. The club wants to avoid this at all costs, and renew his contract at the earliest. However, this has not stopped interested clubs from monitoring his situation, including FC Barcelona. Hansi Flick would love to add Sané to his recently successful squad, but the Rekordmeister do not want to let that happen. Is Bayern Munich intending to keep Sané to simply make a profit on him later? Or do they genuinely value his presence (on the bench, that is)? Let us know in the comments below!

Eintracht Frankfurt v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images Maybe he just needs some R&R this weekend. In Bayern Munich’s weekend clash with Eintracht Frankfurt, Harry Kane was largely a non-factor as the match resulted in a 3-3 draw. Kane only registered two shots, both off target, and was substituted off the pitch in the 72nd minute. After a hot start to the season, Kane is goalless in the last three matches. Albeit the competition was stiffer, his off the ball movement lacked confidence and the excessive number of minutes seem to be taken a toll on the 31-year old striker.Kane picked up a knock In the Frankfurt match, creating panic for both club and country. Luckily, he received a favorable prognosis from the England medical staff (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):Official Harry Kane medical update: The examination by the doctors of the English national team has shown that Harry Kane does not have a structural injury. The striker will therefore remain with the national team for the upcoming Nations League matches. It would be better for Kane to get some recovery time, but due to other injuries England will probably include him in the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Greece and Finland.Has Vincent Kompany been exposed? Eintracht Frankfurt v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images Bayern Munich played Eintracht Frankfurt to a 3-3 draw. Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany has mastered the art of communicating the positives when everyone else can see the team’s issues after a match. It is the polar opposite approach of his predecessor, Thomas Tuchel, who sometimes used the media as a weapon to shovel blame on to his players. “A fantastic performance from my team. Bayern lost here 5-1 last year, lost 5-1 another year. I think the expectation was big for the opposition team to be able to do something. But there wasn’t any of it today,” Kompany told ESPN (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Of course, we conceded three goals and that’s the story of the game. But if you look at the dominance we had in every game this season, we have four or five times the amount of chances of any team we face.”Statistically, Bayern Munich was “fantastic”, but for the third consecutive game, the end result did not yield three points. At some point, the Bavarians will have to put it all together against quality competition. Has Vincent Kompany been exposed? Why has Harry Kane stopped scoring? Does Manuel Neuer need a replacement? Eintracht Frankfurt v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images Bayern should have come away with full points, but Omar Marmoush had other ideas in mind... Bayern Munich were very close to coming way from Eintracht Frankfurt with three points and a hard-fought 3-2 win, but Omar Marmoush scored a stoppage time equalizer to send the Rekordmeister into the international break with a headache instead of jubilation. The Egyptian international was the star of the show for Frankfurt with his brace and assist, but Bayern dominated that match in virtually every department, but were once again left kicking themselves for giving up such easy goals on the counter attack. When all was said and done, Bayern had registered 13 shots on target to Frankfurt’s six, and it was the center-back pair of Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano that scored two of Bayern’s three goals, both with their feet — something that is a bit of a collector’s item. Michael Olise’s effort in the 53rd minute was worthy of being the winner for Vincent Kompany’s side, but it was not to be the case with Marmoush’s stoppage time goal sinking the dagger into Bayern’s side in what was almost a carbon copy of the first two goals the Eagles scored. After the match, Serge Gnabry, who was given a start by Kompany, described Bayern leaving Deutsche Bank Park with a bitter feeling. They did everything right on the attacking end of the pitch, and probably should have come away with full points, but giving up goals on the counter was once again their weak point.“Frankfurt didn’t have many chances, but they scored. We had the game under control. It’s bitter that we conceded a goal so late. At the end of the day, we have to go home with the win. That’s bitter for us, but that’s football. It didn’t look like anything was going to go wrong at the end. The two points we dropped hurt us, but we are playing good football and hopefully that will pay off in the long run,” he explained to DAZN Germany (via @iMiaSanMia). Eintracht Frankfurt v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images Gnabry’s sentiment matches that of Kompany’s, who after the match, said he felt his side’s performance, for large parts, against Frankfurt was “fantastic.” He made a point to remind Archie Rhind-Tutt during his post-match interview for ESPN+ that Bayern had dominated against both Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen despite not being able to get full points against either of them. There is clearly a work in progress and Bayern still go into the international break at the top of what is a very tight Bundesliga table in the European places. Has Vincent Kompany been exposed? Why has Harry Kane stopped scoring? Does Manuel Neuer need a replacement? If you’re asking those questions, we discuss all that and more in the newest edition of our podcast! FC Bayern München v GNK Dinamo - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD1 Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images After a rough week, Bayern is still top of the table. After a dominating start to the season, Bayern Munich came back to the earth by dropping points in three consecutive matches. Granted the level of competition was much higher than the previous month, Bayern is expected to earn three points every night.Eintracht Frankfurt has been a thorn in the side of Bayern over the past decade. On Sunday, Frankfurt stole a point with Omar Marmoush’s stoppage time goal.“We’re disappointed with the result, but the performance was really good,” Freund said after the match (via @iMiaSanMia). “We were extremely dominant in the first half. It was fun to watch the team. Despite that, we conceded three goals, which hurts. The performance was really good. The result was not what we wanted. Of course there are still things we want to improve, but in general the team is on a really good path.”If anything, it’s uplifting to hear Freund, Max Eberl, and Vincent Kompany echo the same sentiments regarding unity and a positive outlook to the season.Has Vincent Kompany been exposed? Why has Harry Kane stopped scoring? Does Manuel Neuer need a replacement? If you’re asking those questions, we discuss all that and more in the newest edition of our podcast! Eintracht Frankfurt v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images Bayern Munich coughed up points in this one. Die Folgen: Bayern’s X-X win over Eintracht (Bavarian Football Works)Bayern Munich was on a mission to dominate possession and win three points.Well...one out of two isn’t bad, right? The Bavarians prevailed in nearly every important statistical category, except the one kept track of on the scoreboard, which showed the game at 3-3 when the final whistle was blown. It was that kind of day (again) for Bayern Munich. Let’s take a look at some quick hitters on the match: As always, let’s take a look at the starting XI:How the visitors will start off https://t.co/MdeZUhZQ8K— Eintracht Frankfurt (@eintracht_us) October 6, 2024This was pretty much as expected with the exception of Thomas Müller getting the nod. In a situation that likely came down between Müller, Leroy Sané, and Kingsley Coman, it was Müller who Kompany looked to after a couple of weeks of not getting a look. Everything else was on-point with that many thought would happen (Raphaël Guerreiro in for Konrad Laimer, Michael Olise keeping his starting role). Maybe some thought Serge Gnabry would be on the bench following a stinker against Aston Villa, but Kompany chose to keep Sané on the bench,I’ll say this, if the red kits had white lettering and numbering and coloring, I would like them better. It felt like Bayern Munich was more content to just hold the ball and possess it during the early part of the game. While they got forward, it was a very patient approach.Bayern completely dominated play in the early going, but were not precise or efficient in the final third, despite having some good looks (The prime example was Joshua Kimmich sloppily coughing up possession in 10th minute with a bad pass after a very careless Eintracht Frankfurt turnover). Like Bayer Leverkusen and Aston Villa, Eintracht Frankfurt seemed content to pack it in and absorb Bayern Munich’s pressure, while waiting for the perfect moment to strike on a counterattack. A belief is growing that this is how you frustrate and manipulate Bayern Munich into playing if you want to be successful against them.Olise had a terrific curling shot in the 14th minute, but it was saved away for a corner. That corner, however, would produce the first goal for Bayern Munich. Müller handled the ball cleanly and instead of just hammering a shot through traffic, he deftly slid the ball to Kim Min-jae for an easy goal in the 15th minute. You could argue that Bayern Munich has been missing that kind of unselfish play in the final third for a few weeks now. The extra pass was not something we have often seen of late. The goal seemed to spike the creativity and movement for Bayern Munich. It was that kind of life that was missing — at times — during the previous two matches. Müller turned in a very solid effort, which should strengthen his campaign for more playing time. The lead, however, would not last all that long. Omar Marmoush stayed scorching hot with a terrific goal — you guessed — that was born out of a counterattack. It was the perfect storm for the goal — Aleksandar Pavlović got nutmegged on the long-range pass from Ansgar Knauff, Marmoush made a darting run to the inside of Guerreiro and the blind shoulder of Dayot Upamecano, and finished the ball ever so perfectly to beat Manuel Neuer. It was poor anticipation from Guerreiro and maybe a bit too much of ball watching from Upamecano, but the primary culprit for the goal was Guerreiro. No player in the Bundesliga is probably making himself more money right now than Marmoush. If the last three games have taught me anything about this Bayern Munich squad, it is that they will be infinitely more stable when Josip Stanišić returns. He is more disciplined and positionally-aware than anyone else Bayern Munich has played at right-back. Echoing that, Marmoush smoked Upamecano at midfield, drove all the way down to the box and slid a pass to Hugo Ekitike, who calmly slid a ball by Neuer. Kim…

Bayern Munich pummeled Eintracht Frankfurt for 90 minutes but left the pitch with a 3-3 draw and a measly point to show for their efforts. Bayern will head into the international break barely on top of the table, tied with RB Leipzig but leading on goal differential.“When was the last time Bayern ran six kilometers more in Frankfurt?” Max Eberl rhetorically asked Sport1’s Stefan Kumberger (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “When did Bayern play so dominantly in Frankfurt? Never! They were second in the Bundesliga and we crushed them. The only thing that really pissed us off is the result.”Has Vincent Kompany been exposed? Why has Harry Kane stopped scoring? Eintracht Frankfurt - Bayern Munich Photo by Uwe Anspach/picture alliance via Getty Images Who else misses de Ligt? Bayern Munich’s defensive struggles have once again come to haunt the fans and team alike as the Bavarians conceded a late equalizer to draw 3-3 against Eintracht Frankfurt. Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany has already established that he likes to focus on the positives, and has once again avoided openly criticizing players. After the match, Kompany was captured (via @iMiaSanMia) discussing the team’s situation and recent dropped points, explaining, “We played against Leverkusen who won the league with 90 points last season and a very good Frankfurt team that started the season very well. I can only say that the way the games went was what we had to achieve. Of course we can talk about the goals we conceded, or we can talk about the chances we created. At the end of the day, we coaches have to improve things step by step. Of course there are things that are not perfect, but I have to focus today on all the things we did so well. For those who remember last year, this was a dangerous game for us. Today I can’t say that I’m not proud of the team. I’m happy to look at the details we have to improve, but I’m happy we don’t have to change everything.”Looking at how things went over the course of this game, and both of Bayern’s previous matches against Bayer Leverkusen and Aston Villa, there is a general sense that the side from Munich has been unlucky and looked the better side on each occasion. While there are areas to improve, a lot is going right at Bayern. The season is a marathon, not a sprint, Bayern can afford a few slip-ups along the way.Has Vincent Kompany been exposed? Why has Harry Kane stopped scoring? Does Manuel Neuer need a replacement? If you’re asking those questions, we discuss all that and more in the newest edition of our podcast!
