Having said that, however, he is older than the current head coach Vincent Kompany at 38 and will turn 39 before the season is over. Clearly, the club needs a successor in the goalkeeping department at some point in time. Which might be why Bayern are keeping an eye on FC Köln’s Jonas Urbig, commonly labeled by many of Germany’s biggest goalkeeping talent, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:Bayern have been scouting Köln goalkeeper Jonas Urbig (21). Talks took place, but no concrete offer was made. Urbig is seen by the DFB as Germany’s biggest goalkeeping hope for the future. Julian Nagelsmann is already keeping an eye on him and has concrete plans for himJonas Urbig’s contract at FC Köln is set to expire in 2026. In the event of the contract not being extended, signing the goalkeeping talent in 2025 may represent a good deal for the Bavarians. Of course, VFB Stuttgart loanee Alexander Nübel, who recently signed a new contract at Bayern until 2029, was another young goalkeeping talent who was sold dreams of being No.1 at Bayern. Bayern Munich had Bayer Leverkusen center-back Jonathan Tah on their transfer target list for much of the summer leading up to the window, but a deal never materialized. The two clubs couldn’t agree on terms for the towering defender to join the Rekordmeister, and the blame has been placed on Leverkusen’s front office for refusing to let Tah leave, despite Bayern’s clear interest.Funds from a potential sale of Kingsley Coman were earmarked to help finance the Tah transfer, but the French winger rejected lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League to remain in Munich. In terms of defensive reinforcements, Bayern ended up only bringing in Hiroki Ito from VfB Stuttgart, who has been sidelined with an injury since mid-preseason training camp in Tegernsee.According to Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Tah is still likely to leave Leverkusen next summer, possibly on a free transfer. His contract expires on June 30, 2024, which means he can, in theory, sign a pre-contract with another club as early as the January transfer window.Leverkusen is already resigned to Tah’s departure, with no plans for a contract renewal, despite missing out on what could have been a substantial transfer fee from Bayern last summer.Per Plettenberg, Bayern still maintains interest in Tah, though it remains unclear whether they will make a move for him in the summer or attempt to secure a deal in the winter. However, they now face competition from other top clubs, including Barcelona and several Premier League sides, all eager to acquire Tah’s services after Leverkusen’s remarkable season and Germany’s decent showing at the EUROs.

Bayern Munich maintained its perfect start to the Frauen-Bundesliga season so far with a narrow 1-0 win over FC Köln on Saturday.For a team sitting second to bottom of the table, it was a solid performance for the Köln visitors and perhaps not the most inspiring of displays from the defending champions heading into the season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League opener vs. Arsenal FC this week.Samantha Kerr, Sydney Lohmann, Carolin Simon, and Jovana Damnjanović all started as Lea Schüller led the line for the Bavarians. Both Schüller and Damnjanović had good chances that went wide in the first 20’, and Damnjanović offered a fruitless penalty shout after a slick turn and drive in the box resulted in a jumble of legs and a tumble to the turf. But the match remained scoreless through the first half.Köln set up a golden chance early in the second half through Taylor Ziemer, whose tough dribbling inside the box resulted in a ball laid on a platter for teammate Dóra Zeller — but the Hungarian international blazed her shot over the bar.Misses like that paved the way for an eventual Bayern breakthrough. It was another moment of individual brilliance, this time from Klara Bühl. The Bayern winger won the ball in an aerial contest, took a few touches, and fired home from outside the box into the bottom corner. 1-0 to Bayern — now on to the UWCL.

Musiala was said to be “open” to a contract extension, but his salary cost might be higher than anticipated. With add-ons, Musiala is said to want €25 million per season: FC Bayern remain in very positive talks for a contract extension with Jamal #Musiala ✔️The 21y/o superstar is also very open to extending his contract beyond 2026. David Raum has been the main left-back for Germany in Julian Nagelsmann’s team. Unfortunately, the injury bug has continued to affect the squad, with yet another player missing the October international break. Germany has now seen potentially five starting players that will miss the window in Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, Niclas Füllkrug, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, and David Raum.In his place, Robin Gosens is making his return to the German national team. Gosens is now at 30-years-old, but not out of the fixture, playing Serie A football for Fiorentina at the moment. However, he has not exactly been in the same form as previous. Bayern Munich loanee Paul Wanner is having a nice season so far with Heidenheim, but questions about next season are going to be inevitable.German outlet kicker (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) quizzed the young attacker on where he stands on a couple of subjects — including whether he foresees himself at Bayern Munich next season and how confident he is with competing for playing time should he be on the Bayern roster for 2025/26:Paul Wanner on whether he wants to be ready for Bayern at the end of the season: “First of all, I want to play the best possible season at Heidenheim, I’m not thinking about the end of the season yet. We’ll see where I stand by then” • How is your self-confidence? Do you say: I will establish myself at Bayern at some point Or, with a view to the players there and possibly Florian Wirtz as a new signing, think about where you would actually play? Wanner: “Bayern only have very good players, but still I would say that I’m confident. But now I have to play in the Bundesliga for Heidenheim for a year and perform to the best of my ability.” • Does a return to FC Bayern only make sense if you realistically expect a high number of appearances? Wanner: “I think so, otherwise I would be back at the point where I was before. It only makes sense if I’m part of the short list [first team squad].” That last part is very interesting as Wanner is making it known he is not taking a step back from first-team football. The wild card for Wanner is, indeed, Wirtz.
