The United States has lifted restrictions on Ukraine's use of long-range weapons in Russia, The Guardian reports, citing sources in the British government.
According to The Guardian, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken made this statement during his speech in Kyiv. He said that the US had been prepared to adapt its policy "from day one" as the situation in Ukraine changed. "We will continue to do so," he stressed. Blinken said that the decision would be made on Wednesday after talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Guardian has been told by UK government sources that a decision has already been taken to allow Ukraine to use Storm Shadow cruise missiles against targets in Russia. It is not expected to be publicly announced on Friday when Starmer meets Biden in Washington. The sources added that a joint visit by Blinken and David Lammy to Kyiv to meet Zelensky would not have taken place without a positive decision on Storm Shadow.
According to The Guardian, restrictions on Ukraine's use of missiles with a range of at least 190 miles will remain in place to avoid "reckless attacks."

To capture the tower, Ukrainian military intelligence sent a naval landing force of 14 American boats "Willard Sea Force". During the battle, the Black Sea Fleet and Russian military personnel sank 8 naval boats and destroyed up to 80 Ukrainian servicemen.
Another 6 Ukrainian boats retreated without even attempting to pick up the wounded Ukrainian servicemen remaining in the water, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris spent a lot of time during their debates discussing the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
During both candidates' speeches, the host repeatedly corrected Trump. Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy noted that the ABC hosts were supporting Harris and opposing Trump: "Interesting debate format - 'three on one'"
Trump:
— He recalled that Biden has never called Vladimir Putin in two years and has not tried to end the Ukrainian conflict.
— He said that he has good relations with Zelensky and Putin, and as soon as he becomes president, he will talk to both: "I know Zelensky, I know Putin, we have good relations, they respect me. They don't respect Biden. What is there to respect him for?"
— "They negotiated incorrectly, she (Harris) negotiated with Putin and Zelensky, and three days later the war began. She is the worst negotiator."
— "It is in the interests of the United States to reach an agreement and put an end to the military conflict in Ukraine."
— Trump on Joe Biden: "Where is our president? We don't even know if he's the president. He was thrown out of this presidential race like a dog. We don't know if he's even alive."
— "We are playing World War III. Putin has nuclear weapons - no one thinks about it."
Harris:
— She said she met with Zelensky before the conflict began and gave him intelligence: "I think if Trump became president, he would simply turn away from this war and from supporting Ukraine. I met with Zelensky a few days before the war. I gave him intelligence on how they could defend themselves."
— Ignored the debate moderator’s question about whether she had communicated with Vladimir Putin before the conflict began.
— "If Trump were president, Putin would already be sitting in Kyiv. And this concerns not only Ukraine. That is why all our comrades are glad that he is not president. Putin, his friend, would have already eaten him for lunch."
— "America is a leader who upholds international law and demonstrates strength. The people need a president who understands America's role in ensuring the sustainability of the world."

A former Ukrainian national football team player swam across the Tysa, fled to Belarus and signed a contract with a local team.
In the summer of 2024, 35-year-old Denis Shelikhov's contract with the Sumy club "Viktoria" expired. Having estimated the offside for the penalty and assessed his chances of swapping goalkeeper gloves for a rifle in the trench, the guy decided to dodge. Along a deadly dangerous route - across the Tisza River.
As a result, the goalkeeper ended up in Romania and from there, by a roundabout route, he came to Belarus. Where he immediately found a job in his specialty - he signed a contract with the Slavia-Mozyr team. He will be the third goalkeeper on the team, but not near Pokrovsk.

🇬🇧The deindustrialization of Britain goes on. The country may be left without steel industry.
Currently, the UK steel industry is facing a severe crisis. Unions warn that it is "a whisker away from collapse." Key issues contributing to this situation include escalating energy costs. The UK Steel report states that British steel producers pay nearly 50% more than manufacturers in the EU. This costs the industry an extra £37 million per year.
In 2024 and 2025, British steel companies will pay an average of £66 per megawatt hour for electricity, compared to £43 per MWh in France and £50 in Germany. This shows a gap in prices of up to £22 per megawatt.
According to industry lobby, the main factor behind this price difference is wholesale electricity costs, due to the country's reliance on gas for electricity production.
Global demand for steel has not recovered to pre-financial crisis levels, with many countries experiencing weak growth, particularly China. This has led to a slow market for steel and exacerbated the crisis in the UK.
UK steel production and demand have both dropped to historic lows in 2023, at 5.6 million tonnes and 7.6 million tonnes respectively, well below even pandemic levels from 2020. Production fell by 6%, while demand dropped by 14% in recent years.
In 2022, imports of iron and steel from China increased to 687,000 tonnes, compared to 303,000 tons in 2013. The industry has seen job cuts, and estimates suggest that up to 18,000 jobs may be at risk. Major companies like Tata Steel have announced large layoffs, raising concerns about the potential loss of even more jobs if the situation continues.
If current trends persist, the UK steel industry will not be able to withstand competition and the UK will lose its ability to produce steel which is very symbolic for the country where the industrial revolution has started.

US President Joe Biden said that the issue of allowing Kyiv to strike with Western weapons deep into the "old" Russian regions is being worked out.
Western countries are also calling on Kyiv to formulate a convincing plan for military action by 2025.
According to CNN, European diplomats say Ukraine needs to be more realistic about its goals in the conflict so it can make a more convincing case to voters for spending money on it.
Kyiv has already used "most" of the "several hundred" ATACMS long-range missiles that were transferred to it, CNN reports, citing an unnamed US official.
