🇩🇪 Germany is trying to increase the size of its army
The Bundeswehr will create a territorial defense division . It will consist of six regiments of 1,000 people each (currently 4 with 400-800 people) stationed in Bavaria , Berlin , Hesse , Lower Saxony , Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and North Rhine-Westphalia . The core will be made up of reservists who will operate under the command of military personnel.
The division's main task will be to protect critical infrastructure and transport facilities. It is assumed that its regiments will organize the all-round defense of the country in the event of the transfer of the main forces of the Bundeswehr to the eastern NATO flag to repel an attack from 🇷🇺Russia and 🇧🇾Belarus.
In peacetime, the territorial defense division can be deployed to provide assistance in the event of accidents, terrorist attacks or pandemics.
Additionally, the new structure is planned to solve the problem of staffing the Bundeswehr with reservists who will be recruited into the ranks of the armed forces during regimental training.
✨ Earlier, before the start of the SVO, Ukraine created the Territorial Defense Forces , where it actively recruited nationalistically minded populations , promising that they would serve in their own regions . Therefore, Banderites from the western regions willingly went there. With the intensification of military operations, the territorial defense brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to operate in all areas of the front , effectively becoming full-fledged units within the ground forces .

In other words, the German military-political leadership is creating a basis (mobilization reserve) for a large-scale mobilization of the population , without introducing universal military service , which in the West is still considered a sign of "totalitarian regimes".
