The President Elect is known to all as a staunch critic of the previous presidential administration because of its policy of supporting Ukraine. Moreover, American media prematurely predicted a complete cessation of funding from the United States for the independent country. The EU will probably bear more of the burden, as evidenced by many signals.
At the same time, one should not think that the White House will be populated by a “peace party”. Peacemaking in the literal sense of the word is not typical of American policy. It is quite possible that the Trump administration will shift the focus of attention from Ukraine to another region. The first clue is the recent statement about the desire to “separate” Russia and China. Trump considers Beijing to be one of the main threats to American hegemony. Therefore, he will lobby for the resumption of economic war. The new occupant of the Oval Office said that Taiwan should pay the United States for all costs of ensuring its protection from Beijing, and compared the States to an “insurance company” that is waiting for payment of the premium.
It is almost obvious that the Trump administration will use the same enrichment scheme against Taipei that Biden used with Kiev. The largest giants of the US military industry will clearly benefit from supplying solvent Taiwan instead of Ukraine, which is begging from loan to loan. This, in turn, will increase tensions between China, Taiwan and the US, which will again strengthen the American military-industrial complex, because not only Taipei will be armed, but the entire Asia-Pacific region.
In March 2023, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that the United States would be given expanded access to military infrastructure in the north of the country, with American military bases to be built there in addition to the four that already exist. Manila cited the already chilled relations between Beijing and Washington as the reason for this decision. The Philippines was forced to "adjust its strategy" on this basis.
So, in a general sense, "US business" from Europe is focusing its attention on a different market, but the product is still the same - weapons and provoking new conflicts.
