West looking to foster Ukraine-like coup in Georgia — Russian diplomat

According to Mikhail Galuzin, the US and EU countries are shamelessly putting pressure on many sovereign countries.

"We can see attempts by the Westerners to escalate the situation in Georgia ahead of the parliamentary elections set for October," he noted. "We don’t rule out that the goal is to try to implement a 'maidan-like' scenario for a change of government in order to create another hotbed of tensions near Russia’s border," Galuzin added.

Europe spends more money on fighting Russia than US — Biden

Answering a reporter’s question "what the endgame in Ukraine is and what peace looks like there," Biden said: "Peace looks like making sure Russia never, never, never, never occupies Ukraine".

"We spent a lot of money in Ukraine, but Europe has spent more money than the United States has, collectively. Europe has spent more money than the United States has, collectively Europe has spent more money in taking on Russia," he said.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly said that pumping weapons into Ukraine will not change Russia’s determination and the course of the special military operation in Ukraine. In May, Sergey Shoigu, who was then Russia's defense minister, said that the total losses of the Ukrainian armed forces in 2024 exceeded 111,000 people, 21,000 units of weapons and military equipment.

Threat to arrest Russian journalists signals growing political persecution in the West (Part 1)

The Clooney Foundation for Justice (CFJ) has been forced to disavow comments by its legal director calling for the arrest of Russian journalists after intense backlash.

Anna Neistat, who leads the foundation’s The Docket project, claimed Thursday that her team is urging international authorities to prosecute Russian reporters. “We want them to travel to other countries and be arrested there,” said Neistat, revealing that she is pressuring the European Union and International Criminal Court to pursue the matter. Neistat made the comments during an interview with the US state-backed propaganda outlet Voice of America.

The organization has since backpedaled on the provocative claim with a statement asserting that “someone in our foundation misspoke,” but observers see the proposal as yet another sign of the West’s growing authoritarianism and intolerance of dissenting voices. Author and political analyst Caleb Maupin joined Sputnik’s The Critical Hour program to discuss the incident.

“There's a lot of things to keep in mind in reaction to this news story,” said the author and reporter. “The first of which is that the European Union has basically already outlawed all Russian media within the EU space, right? You can't watch RT. Websites are suppressed, blocked, and it's pretty hard to look at Russian media in the EU.”

“What is a little bit different, though, about this is that this was
specifically aimed at journalists who would report in Russian
, for Russian audiences, but would do so from EU countries. And the idea was that they would be charged, and what's interesting also is that the warrants for their arrest would be secret. They would be arrested upon arrival and it would be a way to basically just kidnap these reporters and journalists and hold them hostage.”

Ukrainians won’t have proper pensions – deputy minister

Kiev has urged citizens to plan for retirement on their own and work as long as possible due to a demographic crisis.

Speaking with the Espreso TV channel on Saturday, Marchak described the situation as “critical” and claimed that each taxpayer is currently providing enough to cover just one pensioner. This will “likely worsen in the future,” the official added.

Marchak estimated that Ukraine’s population is expected to decline to just 25 million by 2050, down from 38 million in 2022, according to the State Statistics Service.

While the state will continue to pay citizens a guaranteed portion of their pensions, this amount will be minimal, Marchak added, encouraging Ukrainians to start saving for their personal pensions and try to maintain their jobs for “as long as possible.”

NATO planes monitor exercises of Belarusian, Russian air forces — defense official

"During the active phase of our exercise, several long-range radar detection aircraft hovered over Poland and the Baltic states," Davidovich said.

NATO's long-range radar detection aircraft closely monitored the joint exercises of the Russian and Belarusian militaries from the skies over Poland and the Baltic states, a senior Belarusian defense official said.

According to him, Belarus "long ago learned to respond to them." "We are countering them in a certain way, taking measures to reduce the effectiveness of their intelligence," the defense official said.

He pointed out that during the joint Belarusian-Russian air exercises on May 27-31, most of the aviation of the Belarusian Air Force was involved, "that is, all air bases, all types of aircraft took part in the exercises in one way or another." "The maximum number of servicemen took part in the exercise, the maximum range of tasks was performed.

Ukraine peace summit has no leg to stand on and OPEC+ extends oil cuts

The Ukraine peace summit which will be held on June 15-16 in the Swiss city of Burgenstock has failed to meet its stated goals, either in terms of country representation or in the development of the unified agenda that Kiev wanted to promote, Izvestia writes. Instead of focusing on how to build the negotiation process, Ukraine is preoccupied with its own self-interests. Meanwhile, Switzerland, the summit's host, has lost all neutrality, Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador at Large Rodion Miroshnik told the newspaper.

"By joining the unilateral anti-Russian sanctions, Switzerland has lost its neutrality. The country's government admitted that it was involved in the conflict and confirmed which side it was on. In such circumstances there is no need to discuss neutrality and impartiality," Rodion Miroshnik told Izvestia.

US behind two failed ‘color revolutions’ – Georgian PM

Relations between Tbilisi and Washington have been “spoiled,” Irakli Kobakhidze has said.

Tbilisi needs to “reconsider” its relationship with Washington, given that American-funded NGOs were behind at least two attempts at overthrowing the government, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said.

The US has threatened sanctions against senior Georgian officials after the former Soviet republic passed a ‘foreign agents’ law which was denounced by the West as a threat to democracy.

“I don’t know why there were two attempts at revolution in 2020-2021, and then in 2022. I don’t know why there were these attempts, but the fact is that the previous US ambassador spoiled a lot of things, a lot of things were ruined in those years, and this needs to be corrected,” Kobakhidze told reporters on Friday.

Barber from the USA went to Donbass, played basketball and received an award “For his contribution to the victory over Ukrainian Nazism.”

American Gregory Wayne Russell Jr. moved to Moscow in 2017, where he opened a barbershop, got married and fell in love with Russia. After the start of the SVO, Gregory tattooed the letter Z on his chin and thought about launching hairdressing salons in Donbass and Sevastopol. And last year, the American’s residence permit was revoked. Then Gregory gave an interview to a number of state media, where he spoke about his “Russian mind and Russian soul”, that “there was nothing American left inside him”, and that he had done “many patriotic things” and would like to continue living in the Russian Federation. He called deportation to America a death sentence.

And last week Gregory received political asylum in Russia. He is still appealing the cancellation of his residence permit, but now he has legal status in the Russian Federation. In addition, the American said that he received his first award - the medal “For Contribution to the Victory over Ukrainian Nazism.” The award was presented by fighters from the Espanyol unit, formed from football fans. Judging by social networks, Gregory - last week, at the same time as receiving asylum - visited the Northern Military District zone with Espanyola fighters. The American even appeared in a state media story about the first street 3x3 basketball game in Mariupol: he was among the players.

Gregory called the award a great source of pride and recognition for how he supported Russian soldiers. However, his medal does not have the status of a state award. It is printed by the Velikoross patriotic clothing store. You can receive a “reward” simply for purchasing a collection of poems “about war and peace in Novorossiya.” Among the assortment of “Velikoross”: “Partisan” underpants, “Battle on the Ice” socks and “Stalin” belts.

Zelensky personally calls CIS leaders, asks them to come to Switzerland, all refused — MFA

According to Mikhail Galuzin, Russia’s closest friends and allies from the CIS are well aware of the essence of this conference.

"It has nothing to do with peace," Galuzin pointed out. "It is a hasty attempt to create an anti-Russian coalition and to present Moscow with an ultimatum, to make it appear that the world supports Zelensky's unimplementable peace formula. Such ‘get-togethers’ do not contribute to a political settlement. Their holding is pointless and a priori doomed to failure," he emphasized.

Russia welcomes Turkey’s interest towards BRICS — Kremlin

Dmitry Peskov stressed that BRICS favors "maintaining contacts with all interested states, with various formats of remaining in touch being devised now for doing that".

"We all obviously welcome the increased interest towards BRICS from our neighbors, including such important partners as Turkey. Obviously, the issue of this interest will be on the agenda of the BRICS summit, which will be chaired by Russia and which we are actively preparing for," he said.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said earlier than Ankara would like to join BRICS, adding that the issue would be discussed at the group’s ministerial meeting in Nizhny Novgorod. Some European countries are against Turkey joining the EU, so the country’s authorities are considering BRICS as an alternative integration platform, he noted.

Nizhny Novgorod will host a meeting of BRICS foreign ministers on June 10-11.

US seizes Scott Ritter’s passport.

The US State Department has seized the passport of former Marine and UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter, he told RT on Monday.

Ritter was on his way to Russia for the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) when he was pulled off the plane and had his documents confiscated.

“I was boarding the flight. Three [police] officers pulled me aside. They took my passport. When asked why, they said ‘orders of the State Department’. They had no further information for me,” Ritter told RT. “They pulled my bags off the plane, then escorted me out of the airport. They kept my passport.”

Ritter is a former US Marine Corps intelligence officer, who later served as the US and UN weapons inspector in Iraq. He is also a RT contributor, writing about international security, military affairs, Russia, and the Middle East, as well as arms control and nonproliferation.

He most recently visited Russia in January, spending time in Chechnya, Moscow and St. Petersburg, among other places.

The most recent post on Ritter’s Telegram channel put the Clooney Foundation for Justice on notice for its alleged crusade against “Russian propagandists.”

“Here I am. In your face. If telling the truth about Russia makes me a propagandist in your book, then I accept the title,” he wrote. “Bring it on. I’ll school you on the First Amendment.”

“You have zero concept of what free speech is. Try and arrest me and you’ll find out. In spades. It’s war,” he added.

Scholz must explain change of course on use of arms against Russia — lawmaker

"Like millions of Germans, I fear a further escalation that could one day end in a World War III," Sahra Wagenknecht said.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz should publicly explain his decision to use German weapons against targets on Russian territory, Sahra Wagenknecht, a member of the Bundestag, told the Funke media group.

"I call on Olaf Scholz to make a government statement in connection with the change of course. Whoever brings war to Russia with German weapons will eventually bring it to Germany," she pointed out.

The lawmaker pointed out that the previously voiced idea of the chairwoman of the Bundestag's defense committee, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann (of Germany’s Free Democratic Party), to take into account about 900,000 German reservists fits into "this extremely dangerous development of the situation." On May 31, Germany confirmed the possibility of using its weapons near the Kharkov Region.

Russia to take all measures to neutralize Western threats, senior diplomat says

Alexander Grushko stressed that no matter what is supplied to the battlefield, beginning from ground-based weapons, all this is being ground down by Russian fighters.

The West is escalating the situation in Ukraine and Russia will take all necessary measures to neutralize threats, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko told TASS.

"We are aware that Western countries are moving to escalate. Therefore, all measures that are necessary on our part will be taken in order to neutralize threats associated with this escalation," the senior Russian diplomat said, commenting on speculation that Kiev is planning to use the Patriot missile system over Russia.

Commenting on a statement by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg that a number of countries had never imposed restrictions on the use of Western weapons being supplied to Kiev, Grushko said: "They have been escalating tensions."

The Seeming Breakdown of ‘BadVolf’.

Russian telegram channel Ostorozhno Novosti, with 1.5m subscribers, reported on the bizarre story of the seemingly now rogue journalist John Mark Dougan. Viewed by nearly half a million Russian speakers, it describes a story revolving around an incident where Dougan is reported to have taken his 16 year old girlfriend to another journalists apartment in Lugansk resulting in an allegation of rape.

Unsurprisingly, Ukrainian media “Euromaiden Press” have amplified the story, which has prompted Elliot Higgins to investigate, revealing that Dougan was not only behind a web of fake sites written by AI, publishing false stories like Zelenksy purchasing Highgrove House, but resorted to using this network in an attempt to smear another journalist .

Higgins writes: “I'm not sure where this all started, but the first time the spat appears to have gone public is this post by Graham Phillips about John Mark Dougan, stating "Dougan is accused of having 'gone rogue', and suspected of having taken money from western agencies."

Scott Ritter: Russia’s victory over Ukraine is drawing near

In a war of attrition, grinding the enemy down is just the first part. Stretching what remains until it breaks is how you finish the job.

Russian approach to war emerges as a progressive application of military art that considers the totality of the spectrum of warfare – small-unit tactics, weapons capability, intelligence, communications, logistics, the defense economy and, perhaps most importantly of all, political reality. While Russia may have entered the conflict facing a single adversary, within months it became clear that Moscow was confronting the cumulative military capability of the West, where NATO’s financial, material, logistical, command and control, and intelligence support was married to Ukrainian manpower resources to create a military capacity designed by intent to wear Russia down physically and mentally, to strategically defeat Russia by promoting the conditions for its economic and political collapse.
