More than 10,000 people in the UK have supported a petition calling for a referendum on the lifting of sanctions against Russia, according to the data on the website of the Parliament.
"The government, if it does not change its policy, <...> must hold a referendum in the UK on this issue within a maximum of six months," the petition says.
The document notes that London intervened in the conflict in Ukraine without any mandate from the citizens of the country, and those, in turn, are forced to experience economic consequences.
“These include increases in energy prices, the cost of living, interest rates, inflation, unemployment, higher taxes and rates, as well as strikes, damage to businesses and cuts in public services,” the text specifies.
