Needless to say, we suck at telling stories and that’s why ETH/EVM DeFi is so far is just on-chain money recycled. No net normie users.

As to answer your question, there are a ton of projects who have great product AND marketing/content teams. I will mention three where I also know people in Marketing:

- Base
- Solana
- Pendle
- Merit Circle

Base had been a L2 homerun with their overall professionalism and people like Jesse who tell great stories.

Then Pendle, Solana and Merit Circle; their have a growing user base and TVL/FDV multiple trades at a premium. ETH and ETH DeFi trades at huge discounts.

1. Apples and oranges. They are going for M1 money and centralized with 100x more infrastructure.
2. And, to beat them, doesn’t mean that Frax should copy them. They actually might lose market share in the future due to their naming convention.

In 10 years, maybe the top stablecoins don’t even have USD in the name. My point, you, nor I, have enough data to say 100% what is the right play.

Let me share a personal anecdote: my sister is a doctor in Philadelphia and was looking to out some money in fixed income. I live in Europe so couldn’t handhold her in that moment but send her links to Frax Bonds (I already had set up wallets etc for her).

She clicked, connected her wallet and then wrote me “what do I do with this”

This is the “Permissionless” DeFi we have build. A non finance savy doctor cannot navigate DeFi and use it. We really suck at onboarding.

Marketing and education is PART of “Permissionless-ness”.

Solana gets it, Ethereum community (generally, at large) doesn’t.

Fair point, but also those companies/projects have totally different fundamentals than Frax. Some of them are younger and also burn through a lot of their tokens sustaining that marketing activity, so it is not sustainable 🤷‍♂️
