"I wrote this to my MP today: Dear Michelle Donelan,
Probably what I say is of little interest to you but as a Conservative for 50 years, former Conservative Unitary Councillor and Melksham Town Mayor (and 45 years in electricity generation from power plant management to audit and consultancy), I will tell you why I can never vote for your Party again.
Even at the last General Election I voted for you in order to keep Jeremy Corbyn and his cranky "green" lefties out of office despite David Cameron's own decent into suicidal "green" policies as a pseudo-Conservative. I noted of all the three mainstream political parties Conservative played down anthropogenic climate change in the manifesto unlike the LibLab's shameful climate extremism.
We wanted out of the EU and at least David Cameron gave us the referendum, bless him but Boris did it in name only. Leaving the EU to my mind meant we would drop their lefty obsession with "human caused" adverse climate change and other 'anti-British people' policies and seek to make Britain great again. Alas it has done no such thing.
We now find Boris as obsessed as Corbyn and Clegg with the changes in climate which have gone on for 4.5 billion years (for example he takes the words of a truant school child, Greta Thunberg as carrying more weight than those of scientists such as Profs Judith Curry, John Christy, Richard Lindzen, Will Happer, Bjorn Lomborg, Tim Ball. and Bob Carter [sadly deceased] and many more).
Nonetheless even if human emitted CO2 (the UK just contributing c 1% of world human emission) was to be a "problem" the "solution" of wind, solar and electric vehicles is much worse for the British people than the "problem." I do not refer to just the current energy gas price problems (which would not have existed if we had been fracking for our huge indigenous reserves) but the long track record of huge enforced consumer subsidies to the wind and solar barons whose "assets" (read liabilities) provide only intermittent, unreliable and uncontrollable weather-dependant energy.
There is no climate crisis! It is a political and MSM construction to command and control the people. If anything should be done it is to lobby China to reduce its CO2 (plant food) emissions. They build new coal power plant at the rate of one per month at least (I was involved with the Kyoto Protocol, the last international climate fiasco before Paris so I saw what was going on there).
I will stop there although this is a very wide topic and this government has failed to meet the primary objective any government should hold dearest, Cheap Reliable Power for the People (gas and electricity). Proposing to take away our principal source of heating (our domestic and commercial gas boilers} and not even having the reliable planned new power station capacity (nuclear, gas, coal and hydro) to maintain reliable supply 24/7/52 even without electrifying road transport, is the very last straw for me.

The Coronvirus Act review went through without even a vote. Their excuse was to protect the NHS of course and the whole debate was a farce with few in attendance. What this shows us is that we need to keep rising, keep making some noise and keep going, no matter how tired we are.
