Si + le présent, le futur
- A possibility concerning a future event
- What one will do (futur) if XYZ happens (présent).
Si + l'imparfait, le conditionnel
- a hypothetical situation (usually contrary to reality)
- What one would do (conditionnel), if XYZ happened (imparfait).
