Yep, same for making games: don't cry someone is doing good in the industry, learn from them
Читать полностью…After all these years I've tried Battlefield Hardline as a single player game... and it's quite good for something that has been released a decade ago with medium-budget!
Online is dead, but if it's gonna be on sale for $5 or if you have it already — can recommend!
Instead of “yet another military conflict”, we are now in the middle of suburb gang wars as a young cop. The result is extremely linear, but solid.
Imagine Social Network where nothing is real (well, like in any other) but this time ALL your followers are AI!
Users can make a fake user profile and be anyone they want to be, tune AI bots and talk to them. We are definitely in a cursed reality!

Google rolled out their new AI assistant Gemini and forcibly disabled certain features of the old Assistant.
For example: Gemini can't search your screen on demand so Google decided that... old assistant also shouldn't and disabled this feature for everyone. Now whether you allow Gemini or not, screen search button does nothing.
It's evolving, just backwards... #Google #Android
“FAB” CONTENT MARKETPLACE LAUNCHES IN OCTOBER; PUBLISHING PORTAL OPENS TODAY (LINK)
FAB:
— Will replace UE Marketplace
— Will support Godot
— Will replace Quixel Store
— Will replace Sketchfab
— And ArtStation Marketplace
⚠️ The majority of NEW Megascans will be paid for everyone (including UE users) but until the end of 2024 THEY WILL BE FREE FOR EVERYONE. Get ready to get as much as you can in October.
Fab will be a one-stop destination where you can discover, buy, sell, and share assets. It will offer an 88/12 revenue share that puts creators first, enabling them to build real, sustainable businesses on Fab.
The biggest issue is their legal agreement: https://www.fab.com/cla — it grants buyers with very limited rights and too many obligations.
Final Fantasy XVI has been released on PC! The game was critically acclaimed but turned out to become a commercial failure for Square Enix on #PlayStation. They even suggested that they will not make exclusives anymore.
Will see how it goes, but right now it seems there are not so many players at launch... but at least it's №5 in the top sellers list!
According to Steam forums, a lot of players are unable to download it yet and some regions are banned completely. Which explains the low player counter for now.
UPD: Eventually, the game is doing good with 10K simultaneously playing fans and the counter is growing every minute.
Digital Foundry accidentally posted their early Patreon video even earlier. Long story short: PS5 Pro isn't truly a 4K console (again), the majority of titles will run in 864-1440p to be upscaled with PSSR.

The most recent Assassin's Creed Shadows trailer became a meme due to paid bot girls in the comments, horse moonwalk and other visual glitches.
But people are also concerned that Japan at that time was already fairly far from Chinese influence and still a lot of elements in the game are in fact Chinese!
— Some buildings in the game are made in the Chinese architectural style of the Tang Dynasty, which clearly does not correspond to Japanese culture;
— One of the shots showed a xun flute — a traditional musical instrument of China, and not Japan;
— In the trailer's soundtrack, you can hear melodies played on a guzheng — another Chinese instrument.
And even the grip of the pen is not accurate (it is also supposed to be different for Japan).
Here are some of my shots from The Crew 2, that is still one sale (-98%) and they promised to make it offline. I'm level 1024 in the game and have hundreds of vehicles!

Go wishlist Little Misfortune on Steam, 'cause despite awkward controls, it's an impressive sarcastic horror story, I finally played it and the writing is very good!

It's a nice device to play indie games and old projects on the go or on the couch. I have been using similar devices since 2017 and perfect as a companion gadget (when you have a good gaming PC and want to be mobile from time to time).
Did you know, that you can run games in 4K even if your screen can't? On NVIDIA the feature is called DSR and it's available in Nvidia Control Panel (3D settings).
When 2.25x scale is enabled, games will be able to run in 4K and then be downscaled into native 1440P or 1080P. It clears all aliasing from the image (both geometry and materials), but requires a lot of compute power to run (since it's literally running in 4K). Which makes it perfect for older games.
Also, AC Syndicate looks insanely good in 2024. And it's not blurry even with native resolution. Not sure how they managed to make it 8 years ago.
Just played Dying Light 2 with ray tracing on Ryzen 6800U handheld at 60 FPS. Those weren't real 60 frames, but it was still awesome for a handheld.
Will probably make a video about "how and why". It may be a huge thing for anyone with medium-grade computers.
Yep: you can download more FPS now! 😅
There was Unite 2024 (#Unity conference) and they announced way more than just the end of Unity Fee:
— They are now focused on making it solid — all the DOTS and other modules will be integrated into the core, URP and HDRP are going to merge into one scalable pipeline, and more.
The engine should not be a mess of semi-usable blocks. But the majority of big changes are planned for Unity 7. While Unity 6 is aiming to make it finally easy to move from one version to another without breaking literally everything in the project.

Meanwhile, Switch 2 is fully defined and will hit the mass production soon. The official announcement is expected this year and sales should begin in Q2 of 2025.
According to factory rumors: Switch 2 has 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM at 7500MT/s, 256GB of storage at 2100MB/s, HDMI 2.1 support, and the design very similar to the original Switch.
Overall, it makes the device more capable than Steam Deck or even XBox Series S.

Also, can we stop for a second and praise the moment: the best-selling PlayStation game of this year is a 100% "Nintendo game", something "true PS fans" were supposed to hate — IT HAS GAMEPLAY!

Absolutely valid for game industry: if you are a producer, game director, or any other project's leader, ask yourself — are we actually enjoying it?

Ubisoft's botting situation is INSANE (INB4: Asmongold. Everytime I post him is just because he has the most condensed idea of what I'm trying to show. And he is also the fastest when it comes to making a short video about something. If you have a better option, just post in the comments.)

It seems that Annapurna Interactive has literally become an empty shell:
The publisher of Stray, Edith Finch, Outer Wilds, and dozens of other games was under pressure from the main Annapurna (that also makes movies) and all the crew left. The owner of the whole thing was forcing the game division to fully integrate into the movie making wing, while they wanted to be independent.
🤔 Oddly enough, the issue will not affect the deal with the Remedy and Control 2 release since this game was already operated from within the Annapurna Pictures division.
Still one of my favorite #GodotEngine plugins: Little Camera Preview! It works well with Godot 4.3 (despite only marked for 4.2)

Remember the insane idea by #Unity, called "Runtime Fee"?
It was announced last Autumn that developers will have to PAY PER INSTALL OF THE GAME. And since developers are not EARNING PER INSTALL, it caused loss of about 30% of their customers. Then they fired John Riccitiello, made "improved runtime fee", and finally, a year later, it's failed miserably. Even more clients left, and they are giving up on it.
Instead, they raised prices:
— Pro: 8% raise, $2200 USD/annually
— Enterprise: 25% increase
