After a historic year of highly rated game releases, 2024 (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/2024-upcoming-games-release-schedule/1100-6518504/) has some big boots to fill. Game of the Year contenders were plentiful in 2023, while dozens of quality games across a wide variety of genres were also released. So far, 2024 is off to a strong start as we've seen strong sequels and beloved classic games given the remake treatment. Barring any major delays, it looks like another year of genre-defining and must-play games are on the horizon as there are high expectations for upcoming titles like Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, to name a few.Just like last year, we'll be keeping track of the best of the best. The final piece of new content in the Skyline Valley update is the fresh seasonal rewards. The season is based around summer camp and you're joining the Pioneer Scouts for the occasion. As a result, there are dozens of new cosmetics available in the Season Pass and plenty of new content to purchase in the Atomic Shop. You can also earn seasonal rewards through the new Daily and Weekly Challenges in Fallout 76.Fallout 1st members get the Season Pass for free while everyone else has to purchase the Season Pass to access all of the new content. Skyline Valley is chock-full of a new enemy in Fallout 76 called the "Lost." These enemies are "electrically-super charged" ghouls who are extremely hostile toward anyone approaching them and are quite tanky, so tread lightly. The Lost have several different enemy types, including Engineers, Welders, and more. You can find them just about everywhere in the new region, but they are most prevalent at Skyline Valley's major points of interest.The Lost play an integral role in the Vault 63 questline and the Skyline Valley experience. One of the main storylines in the Vault 63 questline is to figure out why the Lost have gone so mad.
Skyline Valley public event and region boss
The primary highlight of the new Fallout 76 update is, of course, the Skyline Valley region on the map. Found at the very southern part of Appalachia, this region is in the middle of Shenandoah National Park. When you approach the region, you won't find too much amiss; as you continue exploring, though, you'll discover that nothing is right about Skyline Valley. There's a dark red glow to the region, complete with a swirling vortex storm in the clouds above and mysterious stars in the sky.While the region isn't much bigger than other large points of interest in Appalachia, there's a ton to see and do in Skyline Valley. You can be at any level to enter the region, but you'll find level 20-50 enemies all over the place, so make sure you're prepared.

Gladiator 2 (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gladiator-2-gets-november-2024-release-date/1100-6511162/) won't arrive until this fall, but Peacock's new original series, Those About To Die, is reviving the gladiatorial games a few months early. The show is based on the novel of the same name by Daniel P. Mannix, which was also used as the basis for Ridley Scott's Gladiator and its sequel. However, the first full trailer for Those About To Die reminds us more of Starz's Spartacus series than the Gladiator movie starring Russell Crowe. Anthony Hopkins has top billing in this series as Emperor Vespasian, which is also his first leading role on television since HBO's Westworld. Vespasian doesn't have a lot to do in the trailer beyond introducing the games with a possible hint of madness in his face and voice. But instead of focusing on the emperor, the trailer introduces the show's supporting cast.Although the trailer doesn't spend enough time with any single character to learn too much about them, they all share a common goal of finding glory in the arena. Even the lower class citizens of Rome believe that they can increase their fortunes by pushing the games into greater spectacle by flooding the arena or unleashing wild animals against lightly armed gladiators. Later this year, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is finally answering the call, and we recently visited Bandai Namco at Summer Game Fest to get our hands on the future of Tenkaichi.Our hands-on session allotted us about 30 minutes of Versus Battle gameplay, where we could choose a team of up to three warriors--for both ourselves and the CPU--and a stage to fight in. The available roster for our demo included more than 50 characters, with the selection ranging from multiple forms of Goku and Vegeta to others with just one form, like Majin Buu and Hercule Satan.One notable wrinkle in roster selection from past Tenkaichi games has returned: Unlike in Dragon Ball FighterZ, where no restrictions exist, Sparking Zero will disable all forms of a selected character after they've been chosen. For example, if you choose Super Saiyan God Goku, you can't then select Super Saiyan Blue Goku as your next character. This is because Sparking Zero, like Tenkaichi games of the past, allows you to shift forms up or down in the heat of battle, so once you select one form of a character, you technically select them all. When you're not busy fighting the Lost or completing Vault 63 quests, you can participate in a new Public Event or fight the new World Boss in Skyline Valley. The Public Event sees you protecting storm chasers who are attempting to capture worthy pictures of the region while the Region Boss can only be defeated with the combined might of several brave souls. You can check your map to see when the Public Events are happening and when the Region Boss is active.
Pioneer Scouts cosmetics
During your time in Skyline Valley, you can complete an all-new questline that uncovers the true location of Vault 63. This questline features a dozen new quests and takes you all over the new region of the map. You get to enter Vault 63, meet the people living there, and discover the truth about why Skyline Valley is behaving so strangely. To start the Vault 63 questline, you must be level 25 to start the new quests in Skyline Valley. If you're under level 25, you can still explore the region, but the quest won't be unlocked for you yet. If you're over level 25, you'll get a new quest automatically added to your quest log in Fallout 76 after downloading the Skyline Valley update. According to the developers, the Vault 63 questline should take roughly 20 hours to complete.
