At its October 4 event, Google will reportedly unveil the Pixel 2, which Droid-Life just dropped details for well ahead of the device’s announcement.

The report claims the HTC-made device will start at $649 for the 64GB model and $749 for the 128GB model. That puts it in direct competition with the Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8, both of which will have been available by the time the Pixel 2 is officially unveiled.

Droid-Life’s report doesn’t reveal many other details about the Pixel 2, though previous rumors suggested the device will sport a squeezable frame, an improved camera, and no 3.5mm headphone jack. Colors will reportedly include a pale blue, black, and white.

Specs for the device haven’t been unveiled, but we can likely expect a Snapdragon 835 chip, 3 or 4GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel camera and a screen approximately 5 inches. According to the newly leaked images, the device looks pretty much identical to last year’s Pixel with a few style refinements here and there.

We’ll know more when Google takes the stage on October 4.

The iPhone X and Galaxy Note 8 won’t be the only premiumly-priced smartphones this holiday season. When Google unleashes the Pixel 2 XL, the device will reportedly retail for $849 with 64GB of storage, while the 128GB model will be a whopping $949. And it won’t feature a 3.5mm headphone jack.

This confirms it: phones are getting mighty expensive.

Droid-Life provided pricing information and new images of the device, which will allegedly feature an edge-to-edge display, a squeezable frame, and an enhanced camera experience. Other big details, such as when the Pixel 2 XL will be available, weren’t unveiled in the report.

You’ll notice that the white and black model features what looks to be an orange power button. That’s an unusual and surprising design decision from Google, but not an unwelcome one. Out of the two colors shared by Droid-Life, the white model really stands out.

The upcoming device is expected to feature a 6-inch display and similar technology that showed up in the HTC U11, such as the squeezable frame. While we don’t get to see the front of the Pixel 2 XL in the new images, the screen is expected to feature minimal bezels and display corners that are rounded.

Google is holding an event on October 4, when the company is expected to announce its new Pixel models, a smaller version of the Google Home, and more.
