🅰️ : For me it never was an active decision to go into programming. Concerning my bot here... it started as tiny project with me trying to find out how I can ping resting guild members before battle. While having ~ zero idea about programming. I just wanted to play around. And that's still how I see me working on GeckoBot: I play around and create features or improvements of features.
In my work life I work in IT (I started an apprenticeship last year), ut it is not about programming and instead about server administration or network configurations

🅰️ : When I played the augmented reality game "Ingress", there were two factions playing against each other while moving through the real world with your phone. I picked the faction with the green color theme (other was blue), cause it is my favorite color. Then I wanted my favorite animal there in my name, but all names I wanted were taken already. At one point I got really grumpy about this fact and then exactly this name was free, coincidentally. Haha. And I'm still grumpy sometimes^^

I added a BS-shop or rather guru shop search to the possible crafts from considering the following selection of stock:
A) guild stock alone (List: ⛺️/g_crafts, single craft details e.g /g_a103)
B) guild stock + user stocks of guild members (List: ⛺️+📦/gp_crafts, single craft details e.g /gp_a103)
C) own personal stock of the telegram user (List: 📦/p_crafts, single craft details e.g /p_a103).
I already presented the lists with craftable items from the different stock selections here before (the ..._crafts-messages), but now the specific messages for the item crafts got an upgrade, aka the commands with the item IDs in the end:
A) /g_a103 B) /gp_a103C) /p_a103 show what resources are missing to craft in this case a Manticore Armor when taking the different stocks into account. Below is a list of currently open shops and as you already know from my regular shop search, links with contact info and the BS-channels (as far as known to me and my database). If you want to use these views of crafts, please active the API with the command /auth in the first place.
Next step is adding withdraw links of course! Will be done! I won't forget, trust me. And now enjoy some more golem hunting!

🅰️ : It is not like I started with a big project. In fact I wrote a super tiny bot, I even hardcoded the guild's info. Only to ping guild members when a roster is sent to guild chat before battle. A simple check of the message that is sent, reading out user names and their action state and then send a bunch of messages.
But! It then started to grow. I had more ideas what I could do. At one point other guilds asked if it could work for them too... and it got bigger than I ever expected. But in the beginning it was me just having no idea about it all trying to get a simple thing to work.

🅰️ : Well. The sad answer is: 1. In like 8th class in school we had a bit of IT and used Java, but it was only half a year and we never learned anything about how to use classes or other great concepts.
Then I worked at the German Aerospace Center for a while and my supervisor told me to do all data analysis with python (which I never used so far, in fact I never programmed.) He did not care about that.
When I started studying physics, we did all data analysis in python (and I was confident with that already thanks to my previous work). Later, when I switched my studies from physics to business informatics: guess what we used? python! And now, after the studies did not work out, I started an apprenticeship in IT.. and we use python!
TL;DR: Basically everyone in my life so far wanted me to use python. That's what I do. Python!

🅰️ : Yes, absolutely! I certainly found another level in playing the game. Not only playing itself, but creating actual tools for the game as another "purpose" of the game to teach me things. I think I started thinking more about how to organize a guild in terms of "what information do I really want from my members", so I could generate views with my bot fulfilling exactly what I was looking for as guild leader. I hope these tools are useful for other guilds, too.
And about my personal life... well in times of Corona it's a great hobby to sit at home and work on software. But it's a lot of fun too, especially when I get positive feedback about my work.

🅰️ : 61% of the users of my channel are Spanish-speaking (check out the attachement 1️⃣). I'm really enthused about how willing many of the Cubans were to learn English and enjoy the company of players worldwide. I made quiet a good amount of friends from Cuba now and I don't want to miss them. And the stories that Cubans tell me sometimes are eye-opening about what luxury we have here in Germany and how I should appreciate many things more. For example there was a storm in Cuba and power was turned off for a whole region in Cuba. Ouff!

😊Sooo! Concerning the poll from earlier, I decided the easiest thing would be to give every guild the choice how the rights are distributed. To search through guild member's stocks, there are three options now:
A) Guild leader only
B) Guild leader, Squire, Bartender and Treasurer
C) Everyone (Guild leader, Squire, Bartender, Treasurer and Member)
The guild leader (verified as leader vie /auth aka API) can go to GeckoBot's settings and pick a setting according to his wishes.
