I thought using libraries was cheating, so I wrote my own data structures and algorithms. I then thought using built-in language features was cheating, so I wrote my own compiler. I then thought programming in a high-level language was cheating, so I learned assembly. I then thought using pre-made CPUs was cheating, so I designed my own processor. I then thought using existing hardware was cheating, so I fabricated my own silicon chips. I then thought using electrical components was cheating, so I refined my own silicon. I also think that is cheating, but I’m not sure where to go from here. I haven’t written any code lately, what with the silicon refining and all.
