We are powering #Mapflow imagery integration. The leading service used to apply the Mapflow AI-mapping algorithms is #Maxar #Securewatch. The point is that the imagery streaming model is very cost- and time-effective for a number of applications. Combined with the feature extraction models it drastically speeds up the whole mapping and analytical workflow. Regarding data access, it's almost like Netflix compared to the good old DVDs.
In the past month we started partnering with HEAD Aerospace Group and SkyWatch to maximize the results of available sources for our clients. However, there is still an ongoing process of integration to get things working smoothly.

#30DayMapChallenge, Day 14: #Hexagons
The density map of #Ulanbaator yurts (Ger” in Mongolian). (Our office is not in the yurt, so we have walls to hang posters)
The interesting fact about the #dataset is that it was created by ML model detecting yurts in satellite imagery.
If you want to read the story behind the dataset - check Alexander's blog. He wrote in detail about the model development and published the data on Github.

One more map for today's #30DayMapChallenge, Day 5: Map about #Ukraine. 🇺🇦
This is the area near Kharkiv (50.0705, 36.4820), switching between different stages of processing of #Sentinel-2 satellite image:
1) NDVI (colored with Ukrainian flag color palette)
2) TrueColor
3) Field mask extracted from the same Sentinel with enhanced resolution
All was done in #QGIS (using #Mapflow-for-QGIS plugin to download Sentinel and apply the field mask extraction). For the resolution enhancement we used #Skycues who provided us with the testing account.
Having said that the crop field segmentation model is still in the experimental mode and requires time series and manual validation for stable results, it can be combined with high resolution (or enhanced one) to achieve better accuracy.

#Grid city patterns. This will be the map for Day 2 of #30DayMapChallenge.
The category is "Lines".
Actually, the place was suggested by one of the Mapflow users who shared the result of roads segmentation in his post (it's Balcarce, Argentina - seems that they do like grid structures).
The roads extraction in Mapflow is translated through the following stages:
- raster mask of roads in satellite image
- skeletonization of raster mask to get centerlines of the roads
- vectorization to get GeoJSON
With this Road model we got stuck in experimental mode - so don't take it very seriously, cartographers can do much better.
However, you can find city patterns and analyze their characteristics very fast 😉. E.g. we got the total length of the street network within the admin boundaries of Balcarce as 262 km.

Demo processings were updated to help new users to get used to Mapflow AI-mapping capabilities.
Now the Demo project contains more relevant examples including samples of commercial satellite Data providers available as streaming services for imagery analysis through Mapflow API - like Maxar #SecureWatch or Jilin imagery provided by HEAD Aerospace.

Did you know that November 16th is the Icelandic Language Day?
So, today we have prepared a map of Viking expeditions during Early Middle Ages.
As for todays` #30DayMapChallenge - in a totally minimalistic style, only the routes... and Iceland! However, even in this style, with this impressive expedition range you can see Europe coastal line, main rivers and even a touch of America.

#Mapflow AI update: enhanced buildings polygonization
One of the issues with buildings simplification is that not all buildings can be polygonized with our heuristic algorithms.
In the latest Mapflow update we have significantly reduced the fraction of unsimplified polygons by adding a generative-adversarial neural network (GAN) that post-processes the individual building masks to refine their shape – see more in our Medium post.
This is included in Simplification option, which now costs 3 credits per square kilometer: it is worth it! For API users, this step is also included in the default Buildings model.
We have released a new version 1.6.5 of #Mapflow for #QGIS Plugin!
No breaking changes, but lots of small issues to make your work more comfortable:
🌏 The most important is that now you can upload area of interest for the processing directly from the plugin interface, or create a new AOI from the visible map extent (see video)
🌍 Previews from Quadkey and TMS basemaps ('Providers' tab) now works properly, and WMS was removed as nobody used it anyway.
🌏 "Use cache" option is removed as it did not work properly. We are reworking this feature on our side, and will return the option as soon as we're done.
🌎 Raster provider imagery search for #Maxar and #Sentinel now clears previous search results (not previews!) when adding new results to the map, in order to not overflow the workspace. If you want to keep the search result in your project, you can duplicate the layer before the new search.
🌍 ...and other minor improvements that can make login, usage and error handling easier.
Belated #30DayMapChallenge, Day 4: Green 🍏
This place shows the guitar-shaped forest in Argentina that the farmer manually planted in memory of his wife.
You can easily google the story.
We were interested in applying the #forest mask extraction #Mapflow model to this area. Here is the resulting map that we got.

Mapflow can leverage your building mapping, especially with our new method of simplification. We added GANs for building contours refinement to get better looking #polygons (the announcement is coming soon). In these sample maps, the polygons refined are marked in orange.
Geoalert team is taking part in the mapping challenge.
Starting today we will be posting one map every day in accordance with the list of daily categories.
The theme of day 1 is "Points".
Here you see the heatmap based on Mapflow.ai free processings for the current year (the commercial accounts are excluded from this map due to NDA reasons). The map was developed in #QGIS using the conversion to centroids (still the original AOIs of the processings are presented as polygons) to visualise it as a heatmap. The rest is simple – the resulting heatmap is weighted by the cost of the processing which is relevant to its area. Cartodb is used as a basemap.
This is one of the ways you can analyse users aggregated data, especially when it comes to geospatial / mapping services.

The correct answer to the previous #GeoQuiz (/channel/geoalert/343) is Bukhara. The view from the water tower (designed by engineer Shukhov). The interesting notice about this that the sign reads the incorrect destination. According to the Google Earth it makes 3,704 km from Minsk to Bukhara by walk. Not to say that it makes less by flight (as the flights usually follow so called geodesic line - the shortest distance on the sphere / surface).
