Taby from Health Workers and Allies for Palestine reports that People travelling towards Ismailia’s traditional toll were met with an unexpected and overwhelming military checkpoint. The scene was shocking—armed forces, police, and heavy security were everywhere.
Internationals were stopped regardless of nationality. People were:
✔️ Forced out of vehicles
✔️ Passports confiscated
✔️ Belongings seized (including bags with all their cash—essential in Egypt, where cash is king)
✔️ Never reunited with their possessions
Many were left stranded and out of pocket, with no way to continue their journeys. This was a terrible and unjust situation for those affected.
