chat. It's that same feeling of killing brutus in the gauntlet, honestly. I understand that the general idea here is that all of the content should be accessible and completeable by anyone playing the game but if every single league is you kill all the ubers right away and mirror a few items there's nothing left to even do and the game will die out.
The 10 div explosions we saw back in archnem blew people's minds the first time, like we all lost our shit collectively. Now a 50 div 200 scarab bomb is like 2 seconds of shock and then the realisation it's the 50th one we saw this week. I was just really disappointed this time around with the state of drop rates and currency-fueled power creep. It felt pointless to make a new character when the experience was marginally similar to PoB (with the extra of you can walk them around a bit and simulate your 50 million dps before you get bored, i guess): completely faceroll the campaign with minmaxed twink leveling gear and a mageblood ready to swap into at level 44, then sit in 5ways and buy an entire gear set for a mirror and a guarantee you can do any content you want. Nothing left to upgrade, no content you haven't already done. I might as well sit in PoB and slide all the mod sliders to the end because it's all completely feasible to find on trade or clown emoji server, and if not i can just sit and spam hinekora's locks on an item (like we're currently seeing with streamers chewing through hundreds on items) until i get what i want.
This gets me a lot of flack mentioning it to friends or in global chat, but I genuinely tried out ruthless for the first time this league and i'm having more fun than i did in the base league. Every time something drops i get excited and want to share it, and everyone else is just as equally amazed as me. It feels like an actual ARPG and not just a sandbox. When i take down an uber i'm sure as hell going to feel the weight.
I'm not saying ruthless is the answer, because it's really not for everyone (and GOD DAMN please make maps sustainable without forcing me to spec every atlas node for it jfc) and that's completely fine, but the game genuinely needs to dial back because a repeat of this league will cause unfixable damage in the long term, and players need to stop pushing for that before they find out that what they're asking for isn't actually what they want.
I sound like him right now, i guess he was right all along.
TLDR;
***GGG knows that having a league like this here and there lets their players go and explore all the content they never did despite knowing they will cop backlash the next league. They do it infrequently for a reason, and take the shit so you can enjoy the game.***

This map goes for as low as 40c and if take your time to actually read the mods, you might just realize that this is um... quite good.

You don't need any sextants, You don't need any scarabs and you don't need any atlas.
However, the wildwood is still in t17s and you can juice this up as much as possible. Purple is bad, blue and yellow is good. It's not abyssal spire, it's the entire map.
You will need a very strong character probably.

Uniques excluded for the most part, didn't get any $$$$ unique. Ventors not ID, Greed Embraces excluded. Basically all uniques excluded.
I also "bought" from myself 13700 alts for 15 div, 2400 fuse for 4 div and 2 TWWT for 27 div. One of which ID adrenaline, cull, crit multi :o
Didn't get small aura 84, they're 60 div atm. Didn't get any of the "special t17 drops".
Pretty consistent with what I normally get, but i only bothered to record these last 20 maps for data.

So, i really like some of the sound design in this game. however its all so compact and unbalanced.
Basically i want to hear mobs attacking me, delirium sound effects from popping the little bubble things that spawn mobs, opening my portals etc..(sound effects) but the annoying metal banging sound for unique items etc are also in sound effects, so if i put the bar on 1%ish, mobs attacking and stuff is nice and quiet but still good to hear but then killing a rare mob that drops alot of uniques will make the horrible metal bang (its not a loot filter sound) and its soo loud compared to the other sound effects
How do you deal with sounds ?
do you play with the effects turned off completely and only have loot filter / voice sounds on ?

This is the final update of Affliction and primarily contains a total rewrite to the unique section.
In addition I am also "unofficially" releasing my own personal MF filters for those who are interested. I still maintain that it's better to create your own MF filter from Uber so you know exactly what is being shown and what isn't (and it should be easier after this update) but you can find them on my item filter page. Please note that there are two filters which are meant to be used together - one to check for belts/pauas and another for everything else that doesn't show belts/pauas. These filters are exceptionally strict and hide the majority of uniques as well as a lot of other minor drops. Also please note that these MF filters are mostly based on the 3.23.3 version and do not necessarily contain all the changes in this update.
#Unique Section Changes:
- Now more logically separated into low, medium, and high value (LV, MV, HV) set value items and variable value (LVV, MVV, HVV) items. Fiery-themed colors (brown, yellow, orange) for set value and watery (blue, cyan) for variable.
- Removed soundless Variable League Specific (VLS) block and consolidated all items into one soundless block
- Adjusted font size and background color on a number of tiers to make them more appropriate to drop rate and value
- Lots of bases have changed tiers and unique rarity tier is now more heavily weighted in determining value (i.e. ultra-rare uniques will never be placed too low regardless of trade value).
#Major Changes:
- Compass down a tier. Vaal orb, chisel and chromatic up a tier since they never seem to drop in large stacks
- Hid the majority of incubators in Uber
#Minor Changes:
- 6L white weapon backgrounds are now curated instead of droplevel filtered. Removed pink background highlight from corrupted 6L (this was a remnant from when it vendored for a divine)
- Changed 6s white socket bow icon/color theme to grey
- Fractured jewellery bases now use white moon icons
- Adjusted some IDcraft flags
- Armor scraps and chance orbs are now considered same as trans/aug/whet for stacksize value determination
- Added additional highlighting to the higher tier tainted currencies
- Added DisableDropSound to a number of blocks that should have had it ages ago
- Uber filter now hides Simulacrum splinters under 3 stacksize
- Fixed 84 quicksilver flasks being tagged via the silver flask highlight
- Fixed a number of blocks in the map section not having lines in the standardized order
- Removed all of Racing Options $ Overrides (Section 0) in Strict & Uber except the unique one, they only served to grief ctrl+f in those filters
- Removed currency overrides (Section 0) from General as the additional General-only blocks at the top of the main currency section should naturally handle this and not require any further editing

Hot take (or not so hot?): Asking for more leagues like affliction is bad for the health of the game, and the "weight" idea was right all along. long post warning
I wanna preface this by saying I think it's great everyone has been able to interact with all content and kill all bosses, get some loot explosions, and live out their offmeta stupid character dreams. I had fun doing it too.
I think the main long term impact that a vast majority of people aren't seeing here is replayability. It does seem like more are joining this train of thought at this point in the league though. I will use my own experience here and say that i lost all enjoyment for the league after i did everything available, built some ridiculous characters and had a few mirrors sitting around ready to rot in standard. The reason cw has the philosophy of "the weight" that he does is for the sake of replayability and is what made PoE what it is today. It's the reason people still consistently play and still consistently have goals to achieve, and come back every league to give it a go. I never understood the weight and was with the crowd that disagreed all the way up until affliction league.
I'll make a comparison here to survival and creative modes in minecraft, which most people have played. If you played survival and after you killed the ender dragon (or whatever tf the boss is these days, been a while) it turned on creative mode, would it even really be fun after that point? Where does the goal go after that? I remember seeing people build these crazy huge structures and railways that traverse the world and fight despite huge odds to reach goals they've set and went "wow, that must have taken a lot of willpower and effort". If someone was in creative mode and killed the ender dragon with a sword by flying around after it, (while amusing), it would probably be pretty pointless considering they're invincible and can fly.
When next league rolls around i think everyone is going to be super hyped to try out all the new stuff, but as soon as they steam roll the new content the rest of the content has no value because it's been replayed into oblivion - **reddit will straight away post the player retention stats plummeting and say it's a shit league** (i mean it could be but let's be optimistic) when really it's just the fact that people have no goals left they didn't already achieve a month prior. Often the response is that there isn't enough loot or "creative mode", but if that was to happen two leagues in a row (it could take more, ritual was pretty fun i'll give it that) the retention would likely look the same. I think it's hard to set goals now like 500 delve or kill all the ubers when you've kind of already done it (50 times in a row presumably); the game just becomes a challenge completion time sink. I personally couldn't come up with a goal that wasn't just solveable by throwing my unlimited currency at it continually.
The reason this is important to stress is that harvest/ritual league was said to be one of the best by players, and one of the worst by GGG which was met with overwhelming criticism. Kudos to them for sticking to their guns.
As a side note - I know people hate nerfs, but it's a similar concept where you're incentivised to try new things and test yourself to see if you can do it. I **WILL** however agree with the fact that balance mixups are what we really need and there are a few underperforming gems/archetypes that need attention, despite a lot of occasions that seems to be overlooked in hopes players will fix it with the new items/systems etc. Most just need a numbers touch-up.
Anyway, what makes this overall concept really apparent to me is ecstatic players back in the day celebrating they killed uber elder or maven etc for the first time after x leagues. They put in the effort, gained knowledge and skill, built a better character and took down a bigass boss. It had satisfaction and weight to it, they really tried for it and succeeded and everyone hit them with "gz!" or "wow nice bro!" in

Been buying Unid TWWT jewels for a while now. Just as a currency sink and to appease my gambling habbits. After roughly 40 jewels in total this league we hit a pretty epic one. Don't think its the most valuable roll but its definitely synergistic.
