What is your more recent pet love/hate that you developed?

The latest pet love I developed this league is "unique based builds".

I played one of them this league, and OMG the stress free experience this is: you just level, equip uniques, buy 1 or 2 rares with a very narrow set of mods, and you go and play.

Then the extra currency goes into corruption mods on the unique!

By comparison, I now rerolled an EK Ignite, and I levelled it in half a day, then had to spend another half a day just buying/crafting the right rares that work with each other, trying to balance attributes, resists, suppression, avoidance, whatever damage mods, implicits, etc.. And even then the character is not finished.

The experience of building a rare based build is so horrible.

So build makers, please please please, make more 90%+ unique based builds so that I can retain my sanity!

Finally Completed a Long Term Goal Today

Whelp. After 2500 hours in this game, I can finally say I have a collection of T0 uniques :) I've never farmed one of these in a league before, and never thought I'd have all 3 in a single league. Not sure what to do with them but my goal for this league after seeing what the wisps provided was to acquire all 3 once I realized it was actually doable. Admittedly, the Squire was only 3 Div when I bought it, not sure I'll ever see that even relatively close to that price again but hey, "when in Rome," am I right?

Slight FYI to anyone curious: The headhunter was first which I used to farm legion on a tornado shot build for a bit. Most of my currency generation just came legion & harby farming with wisps on T7 Cemetery and T9 Dunes. I never did the Abyss meta. I think on average, I had around 3K wisps a map? IDK, I didn't write it down but that feels right. I also league started Poison SRS and switched to lightning arrow / TS once I had all 4 void stones.

During hideout testing Epsi joined us with a huge life flame link as a 6th applicable character.

All the above PoBs and calculations use gear that we actually had equipped. Luckily PoB can show values higher than 2.1B, so we know our gear in the original sin setup was capable of up to 9.4B. If you are curious, the balanced setup had up to 13B (https://pobb.in/Vt-Ks8J0XYlL) and the cold to fire setup up to 15B (https://pobb.in/rpGWUVTDpNZ)

Theoretically we could've used a Militant Faith with the Inner Conviction keystone for 27% more damage, but it would've made the execution super hard, so we skipped it.

The whole project was done in --Inflation-- Affliction league (3.23 game version), with no legacy gear involved. We've spent around 100 mirrors on this project, the highest in any league so far!

Ok, but how much does this flex on poe ninja warriors? how could it compare? Lets brainstorm how much proper DPS we could have with a setup like this: lets say we drop 99% of our average damage to 150M by swapping in a skill gem that can be activated multiple times, and some gear and support character changes to add the following: 10 hits per second, 100% crit chance, 800% crit multi, -200% negative resists (cursebot), 100% increased damage taken (shock, mark), 100% chance for double damage (mine support) - this is just napkin math, I didn't PoB any of this, and I know archmage+Indigon may not be possible to sustain this - all this comes out to around 144 billion, or about 1.2 [bobs](

From negative 2 billion to positive 15 billion average character sheet Damage - project results

Towards the end of leagues we spend our leftover currency and currency accumulated from the community on projects to minmax for a single stat in the game. This league we tried to achieve the highest character sheet damage combined and per damage type.

While a certain overflowing event was previously discussed here, the details of how we got there, and a proper explanation of all the experiments, was not yet provided. Also, the overflowing of average damage / DPS at 21 million is a very common occurance, even in regular builds, which only affects the display of that stat, and not the actual damage dealt, and this project is not about that stat.

Remember when seeing all the numbers seen on the screenshots, this is a heavily restricted scenario that does not compare to ordinary poe ninja or pob, dps or average damage numbers, because our goal is the ingame character sheet number going as high as possible, which is not affected by: exposure, hexes, marks, action speed, cast speed, penetration, unnerve, shock, scorch, wither, increased/added damage against chilled/ignited enemies, extra gained damage against frozen enemies, chance to deal double damage, triple damage with elemental skills, aoe overlap, multiple trigger sources, enemies take increased damage, or even critical strike multiplier, is not applicable in our project.

When choosing our skill and means of scaling damage, some options are straighforward, you want to add as many more multipliers through support gems, buffs, and auras as possible, so the choice comes down to what can give the absolute highest flat and increased damage modifiers amongs spells or attacks. The highest increase damage potential is probably armour stacking, but that archetype doesn't have record winning base flat damage, only the auras that every skill choice would equally have.

We chose Discharge for 3 main reasons: 1. the gem has very high base flat damage, that is well scalable with charge stacking, 2. frenzy charge scaling is very powerful for any potential skill, not only the 4% more damage per frenzy charge, but with Resonating Shrine we gain an additional 6% more, for a total of 10% more damage per frenzy charge, and lastly, Discharge is the highest damage effectiveness gem at 600% which can be supported by Archmage (Vaal Firestorm is higher, but cannot be supported by it). Archmage can give flat damage up to 75% of Max mana if the cost is raised high enough, which also brings in our increased damage source, Indigon, which can give thousands of both. The cherry on top (with the size of a watermelon) is that Archmage looks at the total cost you could spend, not caring if the sustaining pool is mana or not, which means using Eldritch Battery, and an Energy Shield pool several times larger than the already heavily invested mana pool, gives so much flat damage, that the base coming from Discharge with 32 charges, only takes up 8% of our total damage.

The ramping of Indigon and Archmage has 2 main goals: first to cap increases gained from Indigon, to get the max, 2000%, we will have to spend at least 16000 mana, with a 25% roll Indigon. The other goal is to have the mana cost of Discharge be almost as high as the total combined pool of our Energy Shield and Maximum mana, but don't exceed it, otherwise Archmage doesn't give anything. Archmage overwrites the base mana cost to be 5% of Max mana (not including ES), which becomes 16.69% with the many support gems supporting it, for a base 2221 mana cost. To increase this to our total pool amount, we need roughly 5000% increased mana cost, which is gained from Indigon by spending roughly 17k mana, which is designed to be very close to the requirement of the first goal. Luckily archmage doesn't care if your pools are full or empty, it only looks at the maximum you have. Ramping Indigon would be problematic with having this much ES, because indigon only ramps if the resource you spend is mana, and not

Spectral modifiers cannot be scoured, annuled or taken away by any kind of reforge (harvest craft, chaos orb, essence, aisling...).
Spectral Items can be imprinted, split and can receive influences.

Spectral Modifiers can be added or rerolled into another random one of the same tier using a Ghastly Orb.
Ghastly Orbs can be dropped (fairly common) and bought in the **Ghostsmith's Workbench** building.
Ghastly Orbs outcomes can be moderately fine-tuned using the **Ghostsmith's Workbench**, for a price in Spectrelates.

Spectral Modifiers can have their tier randomly increased by 1 tier (up to tier 1), or decreased by 1 tier (down to disappearing, below tier 4) using a Threshold Orb.
Threshold Orbs can be dropped (fairly rare) and bought in the **Ghostsmith's Workbench** building.
Threshold Orbs outcome is relative to the current tier of the Spectral modifier (the lower it is, the higher the chance to increase it and inversely).
Threshold Orbs outcome can be moderately fine-tuned using the **Ghostsmith's Workbench**, for a price in Spectrelates.

**Spectralised maps and Spectral Atlas passive skill points:**

As mentioned earlier, the **Entranced Oracle** building at tier 3 allows you to spectralize a map.

Spectralise map is a crafting option that allows you to spend Resources and Spectrelates in your bank to inhabit the map.
A spectralised maps have a green, light mist covering them and added tombs, graves... decorums that is not terrain.
Additionally, spectralised maps have added rare necromancer monsters, increased number of packs and increased pack size.
Enemies within have a high chance to be spectralised, causing them to inflict a charge of Specral Curse on you on hit, in addition to their hit initial damage.

These spectralised enemies and added rare necromancer monsters do NOT constitute a Spectral Rally encounter by themselves. You will not get Spectrelates and league specific drops out of these monsters.

You can spectralise Minister's Lair and Overlord's Throne Hall maps to essentially create Uber version of the bosses they contain.
Completing each of these maps in their spectralised version for the first time grants you 1 Spectral Atlas skill point.

Spectral Atlas skill points can be used to allocate unallocated small Atlas passive skills, or to increase by 100% the effect of an already allocated small Atlas passive skills.
These Spectral Atlas skill points can be reset for free.

**Storehouse (12 tiers):** increase you maximum amount of stored Resource.
* **Shinygrabber's Shop (3 tiers):** answer 3 vague questions, get a vaguely relevant unique (from a pool of regular uniques down to tier 2 at max building tier).
* **Entranced Oracle (3 tiers):** using Resource, Spectrelates or both, allow you to generate a random rare or legendary atlas map with an Overlord encounter in it, a random Minister's Lair map, or to spectralise\* a map.
* **Ghostsmith's Workbench (3 tiers):** using Spectrelates, allow you to buy league specific items and to enhance probabilities for league specific crafts\*.

\*More info on that in the "League mechanics and rewards" section.

From the Altar at the center, you can fill a Divine Vessel with Spectrelates from your bank in order to create a Spectrelates Vial.
You can also consume a Spectrelates Vial in the same Altar to add the contained Spectrelates in the bank.
Adding Spectrelates to your bank in this way can not go above your bank limit.

**Dethroning the Overlord:**

In order to dethrone the Overlord, you will need to obtain Minister's Lair maps and open them.

Minister's Lair maps can ONLY be obtained through **Entranced Oracle** craft, and their tier is set at the highest map tier you've currently completed in the Atlas.

These maps are small thematic (Cemetary, Gravetrough, Burial Chambers, Bone Crypt...) maps devoid of league mechanics.

However each of them contains Spectrelates and a unique boss - called \[name\], Minister of \[sin\] - at the very end.

Minister's Lair maps disclose which boss they contain in their description. Also, they can be witnessed by The Maven.

Starting a boss fight spawns a set amount of Spectrelates in the boss arena, and Spectrelates of the map start heading toward the boss arena. Hence, a good way to reduce the difficulty of the boss fights is to kill map Spectrelates before starting. The bosses are still necromancers so keep in mind that killed Spectrelates will be periodically raised back as minions.

As long as you are considered as fighting the boss, a thick spectral mist covers the map around the boss arena, inflicting 1 charge of Spectral Curse per tick if you find yourself in it.

There are 7 different bosses, with a shared set of moves in common that I am not detailing, plus with each their own quirks:

* **Abalef, Minister of Sloth:** Abalef and the Spectrelates he spawns and drag into the arena do not move. Abalef casts big, highly telegraphed AoEs dealing ramping damage. Keep in mind that going through Spectrelates yourself also affects you with 1 charge of Spectral Curse.
* **Odoyak, Minister of Gluttony:** Odayak coats itself with the Spectrelates. While having his coating and relative to his coating's toughness, he radiates spectral energy around him, periodically affecting characters around him with a charge of Spectral Curse.
* **Solenta, Minister of Pride**: Solenta spawns a lot of Spectrelates and easily afflicts charges of Specral Curse. Every now and then, she will strip the Spectral Curse out of you and consume it, granting her buffs relative to the number of charges you had.
* **Toledano, Minister of Greed:** Toledano constantly pulls the Spectrelates towards him. When he has gathered a certain amount, he projects the Spectrelates in an Innocence-like beam inflicting 1 charge of Spectral Curse per tick as long as you're in it. The used Spectrelates are gradually dropped on impact (player, obstacle, end of arena) as the beam is fired.
* **Zangras, Minister of Wrath:** at the start, Zangras coalesces the Spectrelates into a weapon that he wields. leaves a few Spectrelates in their wake, while absorbing the scattered Spectrelates it hits. You can not damage the Spectrelates of its weapon, but you can kill the ones periodically dropped.

**Main lore:**

Amongst the many accursed creatures that inhabit the twisted lands of Wraeclast and beyond, there are some whose nature is particularly mischievous.

The Necromancers, using corpses as their dolls and death as their stage have existed since time immemorial, as soon as the wicked thought of toying with life sprouted into the most devilish of hearts.

Practitioners of this atrocious craft, each rejected from their original kin, have in time come together and honed their respective skills.

Throughout countless centuries, dynasties of necromancers have established themselves, each with a rank relative to their unholy prowess.

At the very top can be found the 7 Ministers and, above them, reigning supreme: the Overlord.

# League Mechanics

**Spectral Rally:**

Spectral Rally is an in-map activity in which you will find league-tied spectral enemies - called Spectrelates - spread around the map wandering or doing an activity (cutting wood, digging rocks, gathering water, building sheds, processing resources... depending on the map you're on, it'll help you find them), as well as a local boss, called Regional Despot.

The Regional Despot is a rare necromancer monster which constantly revives those Spectrelates.

Engaging him in combat will start rallying all nearby Spectrelates towards him.

These Spectrelates, which you will see throughout this league, are ghost monsters that you can damage and kill. They are fairly squishy but draw their strength from swarming you. They have the particularity to not directly deal damage, however they will periodically try to go straight at you (much like rhoas) and go through you, afflicting you with 1 charge of Spectral Curse\*.

Killing the Regional Despot frees the Spectrelates linked to him, allowing you to gather them (the same way you would with Affliction's wisps) and add them to an encampment that you control: The Spectrelates Shelter. The Spectrelates you've killed prior to this also join The Spectrelates Shelter.

**\*TL;DR:** Spectral Curse is a scaled degen time bomb.
**\*Full Version:** Spectral Curse is a 10 second curse that turns a portion of your health or life-guarding energy shield (whichever is greater or remaining) into a spectral life/energy shield, proportional to the amount of spectral curse charges on you. Each new charge you gain refresh the timer. Spectraled health resource (life/es) is consumed as normal health resource when no normal health resource remains. Regenated health resource at any point (whether naturally or through flask) is not spectraled further than the current max amount you are currently suffering from Spectral Curse.

At the end of the timer, you lose Spectral Curse, and the spectral health resource evaporates at a speed relative to the number of charges of Spectral Curse you had. As such, it is not damage you are dealt, meaning there is no way to mitigate this.

Numbers wise, Spectral Curse charges affect your health in a combination of flat and percentage values in an increasing manner.

What should I do after a couple hundreds T14+ maps without finding the King in the Mists?

That's a really genuine question. I've been following the Neversink's advice and I've done diagonal moving since I accepted the War for the Wildwoods quest, but I've done around 200 maps (T14+) with no luck and I don't know what to think when reading " With this strategy you should be finding him around once in 15-20 maps " . I usually do not belive in random conspiracy thoughts like 'i'm bugged' but I'm starting to become a little paranoid ..
Anyway as I said it's a genuine question, what should I do? I bought my 3rd charm a month ago and its dusting in my stash -.- I would like to play at least a few days with my complete character lol

ES, so we use weapon swap with the Mahuxotl shield, which deletes all our ES, we use a separate skill to consume most of our mana, then swap back. Arcane cloak is not affected by Eldritch Battery, so we could still use it after swapping back to the main weapon, but it also brings inconsistency spending different amounts of mana.

When making the gear for the project we didn't know how far the game can handle it, we didn't have much testing before, so we didn't have a very specific goal in mind, our expecations were uncapped.

Our execution rotation in short: pick up shrines (up to 4 beneficial, 3 really good, Resonating, Impenetrable, Massive, Brutal), Sigil of Power, weapon swap to delete all ES, get any amount of charges from support, summon worms, Discharge them to proc EO, use ramp skill as long as the mana runs out, weapon swap, Arcane cloak, RF, Vaal RF, flasks. Depending on when the Arcane cloak is activated, or the timing of bonuses gained from supports, there is some variance in the results.

In our first attempt we tried to balance out our damage evenly distributed between the damage types. Most of our damage coming from Archmage as lightning means that the damage partially needs to be converted to cold (with 1 Call of the Brotherhood ring), then a portion of that to fire (1 Pyre ring), and for chaos we used gained as extra modifiers from a shaper weapon mod and the atziri flask.

The first unusual thing is that the combined damage doesn't add up properly after the sum of the elements exceeds 2.1B, it displays a negative number, or if the sum exceeds 4.2B, the combined shows a positive number, lower than 2.1B. In the second attempt we swapped to 2 Call of the Brotherhood rings, to make most of our damage cold, and with that came the second unusual sighting: when a single element exceeds 2.1B, that element is not shown on the character sheet at all, and is not added to the combined damage total either: https://i.imgur.com/tK9j5ZW.png We had enough damage for this to show even in hideout.

In the third experiment we added cold to fire support gem and went back to a map with shrines aiming to make 2 elements disappear: cold and fire, but it turned out we had enough damage to overflow even chaos, resulting the character sheet just showing lightning, and combined damage being exactly equal to that: https://i.imgur.com/UInNWaD.png Note that ignite and poison DPS numbers are still shown, even when having no damage which can inflict them on our character.

After that we attempted to push the first setup further by optimizing the execution far enough to overflow all 4 damage types at once, we got really close, and got this weird result: https://i.imgur.com/TfQl8jh.png The only value overflowing, was the maximum (Y) value of fire damage, but it didn't make the whole line disappear, (presumably) because the minimum value was still valid.

The last thing we tested was converting everything to a single type, chaos damage with Original sin (could have used Avatar of Fire as well, but thats like so free), and as we already expected, it means all damage numbers just completely disappear from the character sheet: https://i.imgur.com/zbDz1ND.png (except poison, so it's still visible something fishy is going on, not to be confused with a Quin screenshot)

Do these unusual values actually work as seen? What happens if you hit something with it? We don't know, we've never went to test it. Some people speculate the damage is actually lost if overflown, some that it is just capped like the DoTs at 35 million (2.1B per minute), and some can even think it can be handled further if they coded it that way, just as the good old negative 21 million is just

**Scrapped ideas:**

It was more a section for myself, but I figured I could leave it in the post:

* PvE and maybe even PvP (Spectrelates Shelter raids) using your Spectrelates as a commanded army -> too ToTa and hard to balance.
* Fairgraves memory of the Spectral Bounty -> added to another league idea
* Spectralised invitations, legion emblems, simulacrums... -> too much

**Last words and what's next ?:**

If you're one of the brave souls whose eyes reached these lines: thank you so much for your dedication and attention, it means a lot to me.
I really hope you enjoyed this read. It has been a wild ride for me.

Next post should be about new support gems opening new alternative gameplays where I try to import PoE2 philosophy into PoE1 without forcing it on the player.

Getting hit by a slash direcly triggers your current Spectral Curse then refresh it with 3 additional charges.
* **Anadalia, Minister of Lust:** Spectrelates do not attack you, instead they are gravitating around Anadalia. Anadalia will try to embrace you for the whole duration of the fight. The closer she is, the faster the Spectrelates gravitates.
* **Kisyris, Minister of Envy:** Spectrelates can also go through Kysiris. You share your Spectral Curse with Kisyris.

These boss drop the map Spectrelates, and has a chance to drop league specific items as well as an 1/8 chance to drop an Audience Token.

Minister you had not killed yet also empower your Spectrelates Shelter as mentioned earlier.

Audience Token can be used in a map device to ensure a Spectral Rally encounter in your map, but most importantly, it can be used at the **Entranced Oracle** shop Tier 2 for a fair amount of Resource and Spectrelates to generate a Overlord's Throne Hall map.

**The Overlord boss encounter:**

The Overlord's Throne Hall map is smaller than a Minister's Lair map, is composed of a corridor leading straight to the boss arena, and is jam-packed with Spectrelates.
The Overlord himself awaits you on his throne. He talks for a bit (taking inspiration from his idol, Izaro, on this matter) and then it starts.
The Overlord boss encounter is cut into 3 phases. Going from one phase to another and killing the boss clears your ongoing Spectral Curse.

During the first phase, The Overlord alternates between the Minister's mechanics at random.

During the second phase, The Overlord uses his own moves and unhinges his Spectrelates, creating a continuous and unending swarm of Spectrelates plunging onto you.

When you kill him, he pulls all the Spectrelates onto him in order to be raised again in a Spectral Form.
At this point, the Overlord holds a Spectral Curse at 30 charges that will displel in 10 seconds, killing him.
He also gains 1% attack and cast speed per number of Spectral Curse charges you do not have, capped at 30%.

If the Overlord hits you with a spell or attack, he will extend his Spectral Curse for 3 seconds while applying a Spectral Curse at 30 charges on you that lasts 10 seconds.
If you already hold Spectral Curse however, his hits will reduce your Spectral Curse duration by 3 seconds instead.
If you hit the Overlord during this phase, you will have high chance to lose Spectral Curse charges according to the amount of damage you've dealt and the distance at which you were from him.

Dying and waiting, getting or standing outside the arena stops the boss' Spectral Curse timer. No cheesing.

So essentially you have 2 methods of winning:

1. Manage to dodge all the boss' hits for 10 seconds straight.
2. Manage to mitigate the damage you take when your Spectral Curse procs until you kill him.

The Overlord drops lots of Spectrelates directly into your bank as valuable league specific items.

Defeating him for the first time also empowers your Spectrelates Shelter as mentioned in the Spectrelates Shelter section.

He also has a lower chance to drop Spectral Infusion Unique Quartz Flask (foiled when Uber\*) and Overlord's Crown Gemstone Unique Viridian Jewel (with beyond max rolls only possible when Uber\*).

**Spectral Items:**

Spectral Items are rare armours, weapons and jewelries that have 1 Spectral Modifier which is written in green. 1 being is the maximum amount of Spectral Modifier.
Spectral Items can be dropped by any league monsters that are rare and above. They can also be bought in the **Ghostsmith's Workbench** building.

As a way to mitigate this impending doom beside "reduced curse effect" mods, hits you deal to packs of Spectrelates have a chance to lower your current amount of Spectral Curse charges.
These chances are increased by the current amount of charges on you, the amount of Spectrelates you've killed at once AND by the distance you were from these Spectrelates you've killed.
I have no numbers on this, all and all the idea is that the general advantage ranged build have at avoiding Spectral Curse by dodging and clearing Spectrelates would be matched by close range builds.

**The Spectrelates Shelter:**

The Spectrelates Shelter is a location you can access from the campaign maps UI (the same you would The Mine Encampment).

At first, it is just an empty space the size of a hideout where your Spectrelates wander aimlessly, surrounded by forest and with an Altar at the center.
Although gathered Spectrelates have been freed from the direct control of the Regional Despot, they are still under the greater influence of the Ministers and of the Overlord.
This lingering influence inhibits your Spectrelates Shelter development in many ways, but will be gradually removed the further you progress in the league mechanic.

At the start, you can have 200 Spectrelates, out of which only 50% can actively gather different resources at a 60% rate, all bundled together into a Resource currency which is used to improve the Shelter, up to 500 Resources.

Your max amount of total Spectrelates, max amount of working Spectrelates and their efficiency are tied to buildings, building tiers and league mechanic progression
Your max amount of Resource is solely tied to a storage building and its tiers.

In order to create a building, go to the Altar and select a building. Pay the cost in both Resource (most of the cost) and Spectrelates (least of the cost).

The Spectrelates you payed are released from your total Spectrelates population an such will be true for every substantial Spectrelates expenses.

The buildings are built instantaneously, and in a general manner, every transaction will be immediate. You will never have to wait for anything to be created.

**Possible buildings are:**

* **Tombstones Field (8 tiers):** increase your maximum total Spectrelates population.
* **Totem of Unbinding (4 tiers):** increase the rate of working Spectrelates. It also allows you to convert Spectrelates into Resources at a disadventageous rate.
* **Statue of Past Glories:** (4 tiers): increase your Spectrelates work efficiency.
