The world prepares for war as global military expenditure sees steepest rise since the end of the Cold War:
- The world needs leaders who can appreciate the security concerns of their adversaries, negotiate peace, and initiate arms control.
- Instead, we have leaders who believe they are a "force for good" fighting evil; security concerns of adversaries are dismissed as "propaganda", diplomacy is seen as appeasement, and the bad weapons of our adversaries must be countered by our own "good" weapons.

I visited the National Aerospace Park in Tehran with other academics and journalists. Iran's powerful deterrent in the form of missile defence, missiles and drones are key to its security and survival. The facilities also hosts drones captured from the US and Israel. Brigadier-General Balali outlined how Iran manages the security dilemma in the region.

International security has been reduced to a poker game where bluff and bluster replace strategic thinking:
- The "Coalition of the Willing" threatened to deploy troops it does not have, in order to keep the impossibility of NATO expansionism on the table. Calling for the deployment of "peacekeepers" from NATO countries to "assist" with a future ceasefire is an effort to sabotage a ceasefire as Russia would never accept it.
