Ministry of Defence today signed a contract with Bharat Electronics Limited, Bengaluru for the acquisition of Electronic Warfare Suites and aircraft modification kits as well as their installation on Mi-17 V5 helicopters, along with associated equipment, for the Indian Air Force at an overall cost of Rs 2,385.36 crore.
The contract, under Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured) category, was inked in the presence of Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi. 🇮🇳

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh today reviewed the maritime security situation and operational readiness of the Indian Navy during the inaugural phase of the first Naval Commanders’ Conference of 2025 in Karwar. He commended the Navy’s contribution in strengthening India’s maritime security.
"21st century is Asia’s century. It is our responsibility to ensure peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. India stands for a free, open and rule-based order. There is a need to assess changing circumstances and ensure planning, resourcing & exercising accordingly," he told the Commanders. 🇮🇳

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh today flagged-off expeditions to Mount Everest (8,848m) and Mount Kangchenjunga (8,586m) from South Block, New Delhi. The Indian Army’s Mount Everest expedition, comprising 34 climbers, will follow the traditional South Col Route. The joint Indo-Nepal expedition, which aims to scale Mount Kangchenjunga, will feature 12 mountaineers from the Indian Army and six from the Nepali Army.
A joint NCC expedition to Mount Everest consists of five girl cadets, five boy cadets, four officers and 11 permanent instructors staff. Scheduled to commence this month, the teams aim to reach their respective summits by May 2025. 🇮🇳🇳🇵

INS Tarkash, a frontline frigate of the Indian Navy, has successfully intercepted and seized over 2,500 kgs of narcotics in the Western Indian Ocean. Deployed for maritime security operations, INS Tarkash is actively supporting Combined Task Force 150, which is part of the Combined Maritime Forces, and is based in Bahrain. The ship is participating in the multi-national forces joint focus operation 'Anzac Tiger'.

Tiger Triumph 2025 | As part of the ongoing India-US Tri-service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief exercise at Visakhapatnam, troops from the two Armed Forces undertook a series of joint training activities, including Army Martial Arts & Yoga sessions at HQ Eastern Fleet Sports Complex, Mountain Warfare drills at INS Karna, Combat Free Fall Jumps from IAF C-130 J and USAF C-130, and Slithering ops from Mi 17 V5 helicopters.

Warrant Officer Ramkumar Tiwari lost his life during a training exercise in Agra due to a parachute malfunction. The parachute failed to open in time, resulting in fatal injuries.
Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh with the crew of Indian Ocean Ship SAGAR which set sail from Karwar today, a pioneering effort aimed at bringing together the navies and maritime agencies of the Indian Ocean Region on an Indian Naval platform. The mission will serve as an opportunity to provide comprehensive training to sea-riders from friendly countries and marks an unprecedented collaboration in maritime security.
The ship, during its deployment, will visit Dar-es-Salaam, Nacala, Port Louis and Port Victoria. The crew will undertake training exercises and apply knowledge gained from various professional training schools at Kochi. 🇮🇳
Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh also inaugurated modern operational, repair and logistic facilities constructed under Project Seabird worth over Rs 2,000 crore at Karwar. The facilities include marine infrastructure designed for berthing ships, submarines and harbour craft, an armament wharf, two piers specifically equipped for refits, marine utility complexes and residential infrastructure.
It will boost the sustenance of assets operating off the West Coast, and augment the Navy’s efforts in maintaining a future-ready force. 🇮🇳
The first edition of Naval Commanders' Conference 2025 begins tomorrow with Phase-I in Karwar. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh will flag-off Indian Ocean Ship 'Sagar', inaugurate multiple maritime infrastructures & support facilities under Project Seabird, and interact with Naval Commanders.
Phase-II will be held in New Delhi from 7th to 10th of this month, wherein Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of the Army Staff, and Chief of the Air Staff will engage with Naval Commanders. 🇮🇳
DRDO and Indian Army conducted four successful flight-tests of the Army version of Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha. The trials were carried out against high-speed aerial targets. The missiles intercepted the aerial targets and destroyed them, registering direct hits.

Project Sanction Order under Make-I category for the Design and Development of 6MW Medium Speed Marine Diesel Engine has been inked between Indian Navy and Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited. The signing took place in the presence of Secretary (Defence Production) Shri Sanjeev Kumar and Vice Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan in New Delhi.
The prototype diesel engine with indigenous content of over 50% will be developed at a cost of Rs 270 crore with 70% funding from the Government. 🇮🇳
