Defence Ministry has given approval for proposal to buy 9 maritime surveillance aircraft for the Indian Navy and 6 maritime patrol aircraft for the Indian Coast Guard. The Additional Solicitor General informed the court that the petitioner had written to the UN Secretary General. The court directed the petitioner to withdraw the letter and expressed disappointment over the approach to the UN after invoking the court’s jurisdiction. The petitioner, Uday Pratap Singh, agreed to withdraw the letter, and a short affidavit is to be filed by Tuesday.
