According to Politico sources, the decision was made by the head of the Pentagon's policy department, Elbridge Colby, after an inspection of ammunition stockpiles, which revealed concerns about the reduction in the overall number of artillery shells, SAMs, and precision-guided munitions.
The decision to refuse part of the military aid promised under the Biden administration was initially made in early June, but has only now come into effect.
