📄 Understanding Slippage: Market Reality vs Broker Myths #educational
- Huge slippage comes from liquidity providers (banks and institutions) who set the executable prices. When liquidity is thin, prices can jump (THIN LIQUIDITY: means there are not many buyers and sellers in the market at that moment) . It also happens during high volatility moments like news releases (NFP, CPI, FOMC), market opens, and session overlaps, when price moves faster than orders can be filled.
- Another cause is order-flow imbalance: too many buyers or sellers at once means there are no prices in between, so price gaps and slippage occur. This is especially common on XAUUSD which can skip levels entirely during fast moves.
- Brokers simply route your order to liquidity providers. They do not control how many prices exist in the market or central server. Even if your stop loss is at break even, if price jumps past it, the trade will be filled at the next available price.
The key point is this:
- Slippage happens because there was no price available to fill your order, not because a broker wanted it. If slippage occurs even on a top ECN broker, it would be worse on weaker brokers with poorer liquidity.

A parabolic move shows us that when price starts rising too fast, it’s usually near the end, not the beginning. These moves are driven by excitement and FOMO, not healthy demand.
Strong traders and Institutions enter during quiet consolidation phases, not during explosive breakouts or sharp moves. By the time price goes parabolic, institutions are often reducing exposure or distributing, while retail traders enter emotionally. That final surge higher usually exists to provide liquidity for large exits.
Trying to sell the exact top is risky. The safer lesson is to wait for signs that momentum is failing and structure is breaking.
IMPORTANT:
Parabolic moves don’t fade slowly. They reverse fast and painfully. So when price accelerates sharply, the smart response is to protect profits or stay patient, not chase.
