meme-tech wise, this AI stuff is all experimental and interesting.

It is also (potentially) not hard at all. There is a simple code snippet called "Game of Life" which could possibly be doing something similar as the $worm coin. Would give 60/40 odds of it being a real AI training agent, 60 against favorable scenarios
