The world is the result of your mind. Know your mind. Then see the world.

You will realize that it is not different from the Self.

You are the Self. You are already That. The fact is that you are ignorant of your blissful state.

Ignorance supervenes and draws a veil over the pure Bliss. Attempts are directed only to remove this ignorance.

The wise and the ignorant both perform work. But there is a clear difference in attitude between the two. The wise act without attachment to the fruits of work. The ignorant act with attachment to the fruits of work.

The wise are not entangled in work because they have no sense of doership.

The ignorant are caught in the meshes of work by thinking that they are the doers.

The wise work for the welfare of the world. The ignorant work for their own satisfaction.

What are the marks of an earnest disciple?

There is an intense longing for the removal of sorrow and the attainment of joy, and there is an intense aversion to all kinds of mundane pleasure.

‘I’ and ‘mine’ constitute ignorance. If you think about it deeply, you will find that what you call ‘I’ is none other than the Atman. Think about it. Are you the body? Are you bones, flesh, or something else? You will conclude that you are none of these.

How can people who are slaves to their senses expect happiness?

Happiness comes in the state of perfect freedom, not in slavery; that freedom again can be acquired only through the practice of self-control.

15. If one realizes the unity of things everywhere, one always remains tranquil, inwardly cool and pure like space without the sense of ' I '.

16. If inwardly one is cool the whole world will be cool, but if inwardly one is hot (i.e. agitated) the whole world will be a burning mass.

When I chanced to go to the Ashram again, I went to the hall. No one else being there, I gathered courage and asked, “What is atma?”

Bhagavan replied, “To remain without thinking is atma.”

Then he looked at me and I felt my mind melt away into nothing. No thoughts came. Only the feeling of immense unutterable peace was there.

Man’s real nature is happiness.

Happiness is inborn in the true self. His search for happiness is an unconscious search for his true self.

The true self is imperishable; therefore, when a man finds it, he finds a happiness that does not come to an end.

Jnāna is the characteristic of Śiva, and bhakti of Vishnu.

One who partakes of Śiva's nature becomes a Jnāni, and one who partakes of Vishnu's nature becomes a bhakta.

SECRET OF HAPPINESS

If bliss resided in objects there could not be bliss in Samadhi, because in Samadhi there is no relationship with objects. So is the case with the bliss of deep sleep.

All those who are immersed in sensual pleasures are deluded. Wealth, power, sex-relationship, name and fame have no real capacity to make one happy.

Life is characterized by incessant change, and nothing here seems to have the nature of reality; nothing here can satisfy man completely. Ponder day and night over the unreality of the world.

Think always of the real, eternal blissful Atma, your innermost Self.

There is no joy in the world comparable to the delight found in the pursuit of the spiritual ideal.

It is in God alone that you have all your desires finally fulfilled and obtain supreme peace, bliss and satisfaction.

22. The Self is pure Consciousness, eternal, omnipresent, immutable and self-effulgent like the light of the sun.

23. The omnipresent Self, the substratum of all, is non-different from the effulgent Consciousness like heat from fire. It can only be experienced (not known).

24. Pure Consciousness without intellect, the Supreme Self, the illuminator of all, the indivisible, pervading (everything) within and without, is the firm support (of all).

25. The Self is absolute Consciousness. It is pure awareness, undecaying, free from all ideas of
acceptance or rejection and not limited by space, time or genus.

26. Just as the air in the universe pervades everything, so also the Self, the Lord, abides bodiless (in everything).

27. The Consciousness which exists in the expanse of earth, in the ornaments, in the sky and in the sun, exists also inside the worms lying in their shells under the earth.

28. There is neither bondage nor liberation, neither duality nor non-duality. There is only Brahman always shining as Consciousness.

Morality is the gateway to religion. Those who leads a moral or virtuous life attains Moksha, Immortality and ever-lasting bliss.

Practice of ethics will help you to live in harmony with your neighbours, friends, your own family members, fellow-beings and other people.

The ethics of the Hindus is subtle, sublime and profound.

The basis of Hindu ethics is this:

“There is one all-pervading Atman. It is the innermost soul of all beings.

This is the common, Atman or Self that exists in everything and in everyone.

If you injure your neighbour, you really injure yourself.

If you injure any other creature, you really injure yourself, because the whole world is nothing but your own Atman or Self or Pure Consciousness.

This is Hindu ethics. This is the basic Vedantic truth that underlies all Hindu ethical codes.

The Atman or Self is one.

One life vibrates in all beings. Life is common in animals, birds and human beings. Existence is common.

This is the emphatic declaration of the Upanishads.

This primary truth of dharma is the foundation of morality or science of right conduct.

Morality has Vedanta as its basis.

"What is the use in knowing about our previous births? It will result in unbearable sorrow and chaos. You are unable to bear the sorrow of this birth itself. Apart from this, if we add the baggage of all our previous births, then the load becomes unbearable.

Out of unconditional love, God has erased the memories of our previous births. So without bothering about the past, if we realize our true nature, and be with it, is more than sufficient. That is the full use of this birth."

Again, there is a motiveless love, pure devotion, a love of God that seeks no return.

In this love, there is no desire; it is nothing but the pure love of the Lotus Feet of God.

Philosophy of Lord Krishna:

To You, O Govinda, who is of the form of this universe, who is the cause of its preservation and destruction, who is its Lord, nay, who is the universe itself - I prostrate.

Although every name of Krishna is distinct and potent in itself, four names are supreme.

They are ‘Krishna’, ‘Vasudeva’, ‘Damodara’ and ‘Govinda’.

Krishna –

1. He radiates magnificent in blue/black color. This color connotes infiniteness – infiniteness of breadth and depth - like sky & sea. Every color submerges into black. Hence, Krishna is one into which everything merges.

2. ‘Krish’ means ‘Sat’ (eternal existence – that which is permanent at all times); 'Na' means Nivritti i.e. 'Chid-ananda'.

Hence, Krishna means ‘Sat-chid-ananda’ – Existence – Consciousness – Bliss, which is the nature of Brahman.

Another meaning of Krishna is - The omnipresent cosmic energy that conjoins different things and puts everything together – the energy or cosmic force that is keeping all the galaxies and planets in their orbit and is holding them together, and the same energy that keeps everything together in our body is called Krishna.

Vaasudeva –

Vaasudeva – Made of two words ‘Vasu’ & ‘Deva’.

‘Vasu’ means living.
‘Deva’ means self-effulgent consciousness.

Hence, Vasudeva means self-effulgent consciousness, the light of Brahman and it exists in everyone as Atman.

Sun, moon, stars, fire, and lightning, shine by the light of Brahman.

Brahman or Vasudeva is subtler than the subtlest grain or atom. It is also bigger than the biggest, such as Earth.

Brahman or Vasudeva is the abode or support of this world with all its inhabitants. He is life, speech, mind, and all the instruments.

Brahman is the Prana of Pranas, mind of minds, ear of ears, eye of eyes. Prana, mind, eye, etc., derive their power and intelligence from Brahman.

Damodara –

1. One who is tied with rope around His stomach.

2. One who contains all the worlds inside His stomach, means he holds the entire universe inside him. The primary cause and basic support for the existence of the world is the Damodara. This also shows that he is the source of all the worlds.

Govinda –

Govinda contains the syllable ‘Go’. Govinda is one who is - known by ‘Go’, The Lord of ‘Go’, Protector of ‘Go’.

According to Vedas, different meanings of the syllable ‘Go’ – Veda Mantras, Mother Earth, Cows, Sense Organs, Sun rays & Pranas (Life force energy).

Hence, ‘Govinda’ is known by Veda Mantras. He is the Lord of Vedas. And, He protects ‘Vedas’ and the dharma proclaimed therein.

Wishing everyone a happy Krishna Janmashtami.

SECRET OF HAPPINESS

Everyone is seeking happiness. No one wants pain, sorrow and misery and yet the deluded, ignorant man ignores God, the Source of all happiness, and runs after the worthless, perishable, mundane objects. Is there happiness beyond the senses and the mind? Yes; it is the true everlasting bliss of Atman or the Supreme Self.

Renounce the material pleasure of life and find the eternal bliss that lies in your heart, in the peace of the Soul.

True happiness has nothing to do with money, possessions or other material objects. You cannot buy happiness. It has to come from within. Conquer Trishna (craving) and attain the everlasting peace of the Eternal.

Effect of Food on Mind:

food turns into physical energy which in its turn is turn into mental energy that leads to spiritual illumination. Impure food not only unhinges the physical body but also irritates and provokes all kinds of undesirable humours which are detrimental to self-control. Some kinds of food like meat, garlic, and spices induce physical aberration like indulgence in sex and irritability of temper, cruelty in word and deed, and other discordant impulses. They are all obstacles to spiritual progress.

Just as a loose nut in a complicated machine brings it to a standstill, just as a train meets with disaster if one of the sleepers is taken off, even so the whole system of spiritual life is disrupted if care is not taken about food. If the food is pure, the mind is pure; if the mind is pure, liberation is attained. The Lord here mentions that regulation of food is also a yajna. There are five conditions to determine the quality of food (1) purity (2) moderation, (3) righteous earning, (4) offering to the Lord, and (5) timeliness.
