the GSI zip has been completely unmaintained for well over 5 years by now and making a new port for these modern devices isn't even that much more work anyway since you still need to build a custom kernel with possibly extra patches anyway

you don't build it in Halium tree at all with android 9+ treble stuff, Droidian/Ubuntu Touch have their own ways to build kernel standalone

modern treble devices follow OS-specific steps to port (Ubuntu Touch / Droidian), anything else you're also on your own and look at the existing ones for reference if you wish to utilize it elsewhere
