for v3.4 kernel there is technically a solid reference at https://gitlab.com/ubports/porting/community-ports/android9/oneplus-one/android_kernel_oneplus_msm8974 for going the halium route still at least right now if you want to try anyway with that

yes, that's what we call 'cherry pick', that merges commits from higher kernel versions into old ones.

you might need to cherrypick from upstream. all moorefield devices including zenfone2 have very old kernels, 3.x may not be enough

technically on the side I'm working on something myself but since you're against systemd I doubt you'd care much about something using even pieces of it like udev/sysusers/tmpfiles, aand it's too early for me to comfortably try getting others to look at since almost everything is in flux anyway

which device? you shouldn't do this on any treble-compatible device (because they can use an already existing generic halium systemimage)

well, they *were* x86_64 (at least for ZE551ML, which used Z3580).... based on Intel moorefield (x86_64 instruction set) with 32-bit PAE

intel spec
and the kernel too. But official ROMs have both variants (32/64-bit userspace programs and/or kernel)

v3.0/3.4 kernel, really legacy if you use halium and best to consider mainline kernel port at this point depending on how well it actually works on your specific model

for Ubuntu Touch only images for that arch are PDK which includes no hybris components, so you won't be able to use android vendor drivers. and I assume mainline kernel on this device also doesn't exist/work even close to properly

A halium image, gsi or not, does anything by itself on a phone?, I am working on my kernel, some basic mods works, binfmt_misc for example, enabling all lxc subsystem is not that easy. Now I am not sure if there are some virtualization isue or halium container isue on my phone.

wrong place to start looking for nieches of super-nieches in, there's only a handful of Halium-using distros in general and this really ain't the reason to choose one. obviously with the know-how if you do it yourself you can get it working on any distribution you want, but afaik nothing established for that exists except previous AlpHybris/postmarketOS libhybris stuff which never got fully done and are now inactive
