Staking Season 8 has begun and will run until 2pm CEST on September 9th. 🏁

1️⃣ Unstake from Season 7: Head to stake-s7.hoprnet.org
2️⃣ Stake in Season 8: Visit stake.hoprnet.org

The base APR remains at 1.25%, and the boost cap for NFT boosted stake remains at 250,000 HOPR tokens. NFTs from Seasons 6-8 are valid in Season 8. ✅

Season 8 will run for a truncated 45 days. Why? We’re excited to share more soon, but the eagle-eyed amongst you might have already spotted something new on the horizon… 🕵️

Network rewards continue as normal, but to continue running your node you must transfer your network registry NFT to the Season 8 staking contract, along with at least the minimum of 2,000 HOPR tokens (1,000 for AVADO and DappNode users).

The next network reward period starts right away, so make sure you restake as soon as possible if you want to keep earning from your node!

We’re thrilled to announce that our Monte Rosa release has been running stable for 32 weeks now with over 150 community-run nodes 🔥🤝

Now that the network is consistently stable, it’s possible to resolve an outstanding governance decision from our second experiment: “Grants for Node Runners and HODLRs”

From the budget for that proposal, 13,500 DAI were ultimately allocated to the first 100 node runners, with a further 13,500 allocated to the next 300 from the waitlist

As part of the second HOPR governance experiment, 27,000 DAI were allocated to HOPR node runners and HODLrs (13,500 DAI in each category). It’s now time to distribute those rewards! 🤑

The first 100 node runners in the HOPR network are each eligible to receive 135 DAI. The rest will be split between the next 300 positions on the HOPR waitlist (at the time when the network reached 100 nodes).
We have used the data from https://hopr.network.org, the network registry smart contract and the network registry waitlist to compile a list of 400 addresses.

We removed several deprecated components to clean up the codebase, notably ones to do with Avado and the cover-traffic daemon.

It’s time to check in on the HOPR Arrakis vault ⏰

We’re six weeks into the trial of Automated Liquidity Managers, as voted for by the HOPR community in our fifth governance experiment 🗳️

Around $300k from the community treasury was allocated to @ArrakisFinance to manage in one of their Arrakis Palm vaults 🌴

Although this represents just 5% of the community holdings in the Uni v3 pool at the time, the Arrakis vault has facilitated 13% of volume during the trial

The first month of the trial was smooth, with the vault almost keeping parity with just holding the assets (in addition to providing plenty of liquidity for other token holders)

Unfortunately, the weekend’s market turbulence affected HOPR as well 😩
This is reflected in the data, with a quite large drop in vault performance versus holding.

Of course, this isn’t unexpected impermanent loss is an intrinsic feature of providing liquidity, and the goal of the community liquidity provision isn’t primarily to make moneyHopefully the PALM system can close that gap as the market starts to recover 📈

It’s too early to deliver a verdict, of course, and there are many confounding factors: the bear market certainly isn’t helping liquidity pools thrive 🐻

The seventh governance experiment resulted in a significant investment in future HOPR products 🧑‍💻

This had the (intended) side effect of reducing the depth of the liquidity pool, in turn making the Arrakis vault a much more significant player

How does HOPR’s new governance scale into the web3 future? 🔎

As the HOPR ecosystem grows, more and more entities will need to access governance in different ways. 🔥

We plan to expand and improve on the tools we use to manage the governance while retaining the core flow:

🗳️ Vote

As token holders, you’ll always be able to participate in the governance of HOPR, but the new system will allow you to focus your attention on the parts of HOPR you care about most. 💛

We think it also should help reduce legal liabilities where appropriate: individual entities using the new governance system will be incorporated (or not) in the most appropriate forms and jurisdictions for their use case. 🤝

As participants, legal risks should hopefully be mitigated because it will be clear that this is NOT an overarching DAO with everyone working together towards a narrow goal. 🛑

Instead it is a true ecosystem comprised of independent actors and entities working separately, albeit with shared values. 🎯

Although it’s very different from what’s come before, we feel this approach is the best fit from both a legal AND web3 perspective. 🚀
