The Sunnah for the Lunar Eclipse Happening Tonight
The lunar eclipse prayer is, unlike the solar eclipse, a normal Nafl, rather than being a Sunnah Mu'akkadah.
It's also prayed like two normal Rak'ahs, and the recitation in them is out loud.

Allāh Ta'ālā give us the ability to act on this noble Sunnah tonight and increase our reward on this Friday night of Ramaḍān.

11 Ramaḍān Late Night Majlis Campaigns Maghāzī
A great part of the Sīrah and Maghāzī was how the companions, Allāh be pleased with them, and the messenger of Allāh ﷺ dealt with internal friction between sincere people, as well as the imbalanced tempers of people who are still under the process of receiving their Tarbiyah or spiritual rectification under the prophetic tutelage.
On top of this, a great challenge which was separate but not unrelated, was how to deal with insincere hypocrites who were skilled at hiding their hypocrisy behind a seemingly genuine veil of belief. The messenger of Allāh ﷺ knew who they were and what their schemes were, but that was because he was privy to revelation.
He didn't act to decisively based on the knowledge of the unseen, because that would not have given us a sunnah for how to deal with such people; we would not have, in subsequent generations, the benefit of unseen knowledge, therefore we need a sunnah to follow that we are able to follow.

Just because a person is on the path of righteousness does not mean that he will not be tested.
Rather than crying about difficulty, or questioning why is it that the Muslims are being put through difficulty, the messenger of Allāh ﷺ and his companions stood to face the challenges posed to them with courage.
Their war with the idolators of Quraysh indicated a type of open season that the different tribes of Arabs had against them.
Yet they still did not back down
Even though they lost people along the way, but they very quickly showed that they were forced to be reckoned with and not to be underestimated.

14 Ramaḍān Late Night Majlis Uḥud Aftermath Maghāzī
War is politics by other means.
By this standard, far from being a defeat, Uḥud was a solid success; but in the midst of the commotion it wasn't readily apparent.
Rasūlullāh ﷺ saw it and showed it to his companions and they increased in faith.
They were not shaken in faith, but rather even those who made mistakes, saw their rectification and those who stayed firm, increased in their rank.

12 Ramaḍān Late Night Majlis Uḥud Maghāzī
The story of Uḥud is a complex one.
Although, the outcome was far from a complete victory in a conventional sense, even in its shortcomings and failures, the glorious virtues of the companions and their intense love of Allāh Ta'ālā and His messenger ﷺ shine through when narrating its gut wrenching and heart rending happenings.
The creed of the Ahl al-Sunnah never was that the companions are infallible: that status only belongs to the profits and messengers, upon whom be peace. Rather, we believe that they did make mistakes, but that they also repented and that their repentances were accepted, both in Uḥud and at all other occasions.
It is not a stretch to say that their mistakes were more beloved to Allāh than our self-righteous deeds that we think of as perfect.
They learned from their mistakes and grew. And those mistakes were not repeated over and over in the future. Rather, we see that their rectification steadily progressed until they became the army of saints, that brought the word of God to the nations.
But rather than looking at them as sanitized finish products, sometimes it is good to scrutinize the process, so that we can also take inspiration despite our own imperfections, and courage despite our mistakes, that if we keep trying to push and be better, we can also grow and fulfill a destiny better than the cage of our current reality.
