5th ANNUAL IACC BIJAN GHAISAR AWARD

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗔𝗖𝗖 𝗕𝗶𝗷𝗮𝗻 𝗚𝗵𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 was established in 2018, by 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗻-𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 (𝗜𝗔𝗖𝗖) to honor service to the Iranian-American community in the Washington, D.C. metro area. The award recognizes those who are making significant contributions to their community through their time, actions, talents, and dedication.

Join us for an online support group led by Valia Shoja, MA on the current events that have disturbed our sense of safety and created a tremendous amount of stress for many of us. Many have experienced confusion, fear, helplessness, and overwhelming anxiety.
By sharing your experience in a safe and confidential setting, you can gain insight from learning from each other’s experiences, recognizing distress and its effects, and learning healthy coping strategies for dealing with the grief of a traumatic event.

Dear Community Members,

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we write to inform you of the passing of Mr. Farzad Shabestari, one of the first volunteers of Iranian-American Community Center/Pars Place.

Farzad was passionate and proud of his heritage and deeply shared IACC's vision. He had a great sense of determination to make his presence count towards building a strong community. In 2020, Farzad was recognized as Volunteer of the Year by the community. IACC will always be grateful for his unwavering support, dedication, and endless efforts. Our community has lost a great member.

Details of the memorial service on Sunday, November 6th can be found in the poster.

Farzad's positive, helpful spirit, and infectious smile will live forever!

Iranian-American Young Professionals - "BE OUR VOICE" Walk

In light of the recent Woman, Life, Freedom movements in Iran, we are coming together to express our support and raise awareness at the National Mall in D.C.

Please join us on Sunday, January 29th for a walk to "Be Our Voice”. The walk starts at 1 pm from the Washington Monument towards the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. Please wear all black in solidarity of those we have lost in fighting for Freedom in Iran.

Generous with their time and talents, these volunteers brought light and life to many community endeavors through their leadership of the Young Professionals Program at IACC. We are proud to recognize these altruistic individuals for their valuable contributions to Pars Place's Young Professional events during 2022. They work tirelessly as a team to bring our community together especially during these difficult times.

The Volunteer of the Year Award is to recognize whose superlative service serves as a shining light of selflessness. We are grateful for these young professionals who tirelessly work together for our community center and everything that they have done for Pars Place.

DAF CIRCLE WITH JALAL KIMIA on December 5th, 12th, and 19th!

Drum therapy is an ancient approach that uses rhythm to promote healing and self-expression.

Pars Place in collaboration with Jalal Kimia holds a weekly drum/Daf Circle.
We encourage guests to join and connect not only with their own selves and emotions, but to also connect with a group of people possibly facing similar challenges in life. Group drumming alleviates isolation and alienation.

No experience is necessary! We invite you to join the circle and express yourself!
