Self Chain, rebranded from Frontier, has been active since 2019 and continues to evolve. The distinction between circulating supply and bonded tokens in the Cosmos ecosystem is crucial, as they are designed to be different.
The $FRONT token was a utility token for a wallet, while $SLF is a Layer 1 blockchain asset securing an entire network. The recent supply modification was DAO-approved, made in the interest of all parties involved, and supported by new investors and node operators. Exchange listings and coordination have been ongoing since early 2023.

The cost of producing Bitcoin now exceeds its market price on average, raising serious questions about the sustainability of mining operations under these conditions. Only a handful of miners, particularly those with substantial cash reserves, can continue to operate profitably. This situation suggests a deliberate strategy, possibly orchestrated by powerful interests, to squeeze weaker miners out of the market, paving the way for a price recovery.
U.S.-based miners currently dominate, controlling over 40% of the global hash rate. Yet, despite the hash rate reaching record highs, Bitcoin's price remains stagnant, a deviation from historical patterns where rising hash rates typically led to price increases. This time, the involvement of influential players like BlackRock—who may have a vested interest in controlling the Bitcoin network—adds a new layer of complexity.
In my view, this isn't just a typical cycle. The dynamics at play suggest that we are witnessing a fundamental shift in the market, one that could redefine the future of Bitcoin mining. A miner capitulation now doesn’t necessarily signal market weakness; instead, it might be part of a larger, strategic realignment. Comparing this cycle to previous ones may no longer be relevant, as the forces driving the market have evolved.
